Professor Burke was sitting at her desk, waiting patiently for her students to all arrive. On every desk there was a chalk board eraser. Some students seem puzzled when they noticed them, but no one commented. The woman smiled ever so slightly as she looked at her watch, deciding it was time to start the lesson.

"Let's get right to work. We are going to begin to vanish things this week. Shouldn't be too hard to practice on these - unlike other things to come, this week we will be working on things that don't move." She said with a hint of mystery, letting them wonder what they would be doing later in the term. Walking around, Professor Burke looked at her students, motioning to the object in front of them. "So, we are starting with erasers and will move up from there. This is a pretty straight forward spell, it just takes a bit more magic to work it than your normal transfiguration." Having made it back to her desk, she picked up an eraser.

"The wand movement is the standard three tap method. You do not need to say the item that is being vanished, but you do need to focus on it. If you are not concentrating on the object, you may vanish the wrong thing." She said, then demonstrated the spell to them. Tapping the eraser three times, she then said "Evanesco!" and made the eraser disappear. Smiling she looked up to the class and spoke again. "There are enough extra erasers for you to practice again if you wish. I will be walking around if you need any help."

With that, she allowed the students to begin to work.

Homework: RP the lesson.

Charlotte was glad that Diana wasn't in their year. She could hang out with Simon all she wanted but she could have a seat next to Simon. Too bad for her. The blonde was now focused on Diana, a while ago it was Alexis and Analei, but it was everyone that came between her and Simon. The blonde needed to let her anger out and that was fine this way. Also getting to know Shane was a nice gift and at a right time. A boy who thought of her as beautiful and wanted to listen to what she had to say. Charlotte saw right through him and figured he was just one of those boys who tried to catch up with lots of girls, and use a lot of pick up lines but she didn't mind for now. It wasn't like she wanted to get into a relationship with him or marry him. That would be stupid. She only had eyes for Simon, but never admitted to herself or him that she liked him. And she was wondering if that was wrong, or just a normal reaction. She didn't know. Charlotte wasn't really a person that made a lot of friends, she usually made enemies. The blonde walked towards her next class and opened the door.

The blonde girl took her usual seat in the front and looked at the professor. They would go to work and she payed attention. She figured they would use the chalk board eraser in front of her. The three tap method was known to her and she looked as the professor vanished the object in front of her. When it was their time she took out her wand and began with her practice. The blonde girl focused on the object in front of her and used the three tap method. And said the incantation. She managed to do it in one time, because she didn't let her being distracted by anything. Charlotte than practiced some more until she got the hang of it completly and left the room as she was done.

Simon was enjoying being back at school, he held his head higher than before, so proud of his new position. The boy was smiling to himself as he came in from his daily morning run. The teen was pushing himself to always be better, he woke up a little earlier and went for a longer run, pushing himself a little harder and harder. The boy wanted to just show that he was the best, completely worth of his position, completely ready to do whatever was required of him as a prefect. The teen was getting himself ready for the day, he took a long shower and got himself dressed. He’d been managing quite well to balance out his new responsibilities with the prefect position and his classes. Though of course this was a pivotal year for him in his classes, he wouldn’t stray far from getting perfect grades. It was more important to him to get perfect grades than it was to have the prefect position, especially since he now had it and he wouldn’t lose it unless he did something really bad which he wasn’t going to do of course. The teen grabbed the last few things for the day and headed out the door.
Simon headed into the transfiguration classroom and took his usual spot in the room. He took out his books, notes and his wand and placed them down on the table in front of him. His gaze shifted up to the professor at the front of the room as the woman told them what they would be doing some vanishing spells. The teen looked at the professor as she told them what it was they would be doing that lesson or better what they would be doing the vanishing spell on. He nodded at the method and then went to get an eraser when they were finally allowed to. He put it on his desk in front of him and then grabbed the wand. He tapped three times and then said, ”Evanesco,” the eraser didn’t disappear, so he tried it again, and again and on the fourth go he finally got it. The boy got another eraser and tried again, this time getting it after two tries. The boy practiced the spell a few more times until it was a lot easier, and then, at that point he was pretty pleased he had got it. The professor wrapped up the lesson soon after and Simon was able to leave feeling pretty accomplished.

Shane hadn’t thought that OWL year would be too much more difficult that any of the other year, but he knew that during this year he would have to put in a little more effort, he would have to be just a little bit better. Though only in his classes, outside of that Shane wasn’t needing to try much more, his out of school activities were good enough and he did not need to involve himself in that anymore. The teen was getting himself ready for the day head, school was good, it would be good. This place was so much better than his last school and he could assume that everything would be a whole lot better. The teen was trying a little more in his classes, or well, he was just doing that little bit more than he needed to. He was doing, still less work than he had at his last school, the desire to be good in that school and the work load entirely different. This school was better. The boy gathered up the books and notes and walked out of the dorm and to his first class of the day, it would be a long day but it would all be fine in the end.
Shane walked into the transfiguration classroom and took his usual spot in the room. HIs gaze shifted up to the professor at the front of the room as the woman got started. He knew they’d be working their way up to vanishing larger items but he wondered what they might end up vanishing in this lesson. He listened as the professor first told them how they would be doing it and then showed it them how to do it. The three tap method. That made sense. The teen took an eraser and got started. He tapped it three times and said, ”Evanesco,” It took a couple of tries before it worked but he was pretty happy when it did actually work. The teen grabbed a few other erasers and did the spell over a few times. Each time he did the spell it worked better and quicker. He was almost disappointed he would have to wait another week before he’d get the chance to do the spell again on something bigger. Shane did focus on trying the spell on a few items that were not erasers but of a similar size until the professor wrapped up the class and dismissed them. He packed up his things and headed out of the room.

Edmund could still scarcely believe the events of the last week. Sure, he had been the first one to escalate to spellcasting, but he and Theodore had duelled. In the middle of the hallway. Edmund had kept his first advance a harmless warning shot, but Theodore had gone in clearly intending to harm him. It ached, feeling any last hopes of a resolution between them sever. Just the thought of his brother now made Edmund feel sick. No matter how things changed in the future, nothing could ever be the way it had. Half of Edmund's very being had been torn away, and he was struggling not to dwell on it.

Edmund had been looking forward to Transfiguration since the previous week's lesson, eager to learn more about Vanishing. He took a seat as far from his brother as possible, desperate not to think about it as he prepared for the lesson. He listened to Professor Burke as the lesson began, wanting to make sure he had all of the correct information, as this was something Edmund knew without a doubt that he wanted to succeed in. He took a rubber, and when they were instructed to begin, Edmund tapped it firmly thrice with his wand as he spoke. "Evanesco!" To Edmund's satisfaction, the rubber vanished at once. He practiced a few more times, wanting to be certain he was doing things correctly, before finally packing up and leaving the classroom once the lesson was over, careful to avoid Theodore.

Jocelynn was glad to be getting back into the groove of life at the school. It was very different from her life at home with her parents. Her father being a herbologist often meant she was exposed to numerous different magical and non-magical plants at home. Their garden at home was one of her favorite places in the world and right after that was the greenhouses here at Hogwarts. She loved spending extra time there and wished the Professors would see more potential in her like her father did and have her come down with work with them on their projects. But it hadn't ever seemed like that was a thing here at Hogwarts. Spending her time in the greenhouses and gardens outside of classes often meant she was late for nearly every class.

Running into the Transfiguration class Jocelynn took her seat once again. The lecture hadn't lasted long and soon enough they were meant to be practicing the spell. "Evanesco!" She said waving her wand towards the item they were meant to vanish. It was pretty easy and she practiced once or twice wondering how the Professor was going to get all the erasers back

The second week of classes had come around quickly for Patrick. He was happy to have received his usual position in the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team as the alternate beater and was confident that he would do well in quidditch this year, even with the pressure of the OWL exams. It was a good distraction and Patrick did like to consider himself good at the sport, even if he was not the best on the team. The teenager made sure to keep all of his notes organised, making sure to only put the ones he needed for the day into his backpack before heading out of his dormitory and to his classes.

As Patrick entered the Transfiguration classroom he took his usual seat and unpacked his belongings before reverting his attention to the front of the room. The professor told them that they would be casting a spell today and Patrick couldn't help but beam at this, eager to try the spell that they were taught how to say last lesson. When told to begin, Patrick made his way to the front of the room to take an eraser and took it over to his desk so he could get started. Tapping on the eraser three times, he said the incantation. "Evanesco." he said, trying his best to focus on the object and not become distracted. Nothing had happened, but when he took a deep breath and tried again, he beamed when he watched it disappear without a trace. He tried it again on more erasers and was so happy when he managed to get the hang of it. As class had ended, the boy quickly headed out of the classroom and to his next class.

The second week of transfiguration, Chante came around just before the lesson began. Her attitude about transfiguration remains the same. Chante will always have mixed feelings about these lessons. As much as she'd like to drop it and carry on with her other subjects, transfiguration was a form of magic that may come in handy with her baking. She couldn't risk missing these lessons even if small muggle animals were used to practice on. Chante sat down at her usual seat with her applewood wand placed in front of her. It would roll down to where her thumbs rested on her desk. The board eraser was within a few inches above the wand. From what Chante could gather, they will be practicing last week's spell on these board eraser. The spells will be used for other things, and Chante just knew other things meant muggle animals.

Chante grabbed at her applewood wand and stood up to work on the spell. Their professor demonstrated the spell in front of the class then she asked that they follow suit. Chante motion the three taps on the eraser and called out, "Evanesco!" Chante desperately visualizes the eraser disappearing from her sight, she focused all her might on the spell. Chante watch as it slowly disappeared, as slow as snail moved but it vanished regardless. Spellcasting wasn't always easy for her, it usually took several tries before she got it so she was surprised it worked for her on her first try. Chante went for another eraser and did it again, this time a lot quicker. Chante took her applewood wand along with her bag leaving the classroom rather pleased with herself.

Charlie had no doubt that Professor Kingsley had been right about her needing to put more energy into her studies, but after a full week of this, Charlie already wasn't sure how well she was going to do. How did people who got good grades do this all the time?! It seemed overwhelming, every class had so much extra reading and homework, and her hand cramped from taking notes. Charlie was doing her best, but she was beginning to feel a familiar sensation of defeat creeping in. If this was how much work she had to put in just to get mediocre grades, maybe she really was stupid after all.

Charlie felt defeated at times, but she was determined to do her best in every class, and at least Transfiguration was a fun one. She found the subject for the year really interesting, and couldn't wait to learn more about it. Charlie had been hoping they would be moving on to practical work, and was relieved to be proven right, listening carefully to what Professor Burke said. When the time came to practice, Charlie picked up her wand and tapped the rubber in front of her three times, saying the spell quietly but clearly. To her delight, the rubber vanished at once. Now that was handy. Wondering what other uses she could put this spell to, Charlie practiced for the rest of the lesson and packed her things up once class was over.
