Starting at a new school was terrifying, even for the most brave and confident of students, and no matter how much someone told you it was all going to be okay in the end, it was still nerve wracking to be faced with a huge number of new changes and people around you that you were expected to just take in your stride and accept, all in a very short amount of time.

With that in mind, Maggie had set herself up on the end of the Hufflepuff table, clearing away enough space in the hopes that she' be able to entice some new classmates into what she'd call a good afternoon. Dungeons and Dragons had been one of her favourite games to play growing up, and now she had a whole new handful of people to potentially play with. Once the places had been set, her eyes scanned the room for people who would want to join her. Maybe no one here liked playing games, but she wasn't going to not try, and it would be a great way to break the ice with the others.

In the her hand held five coloured cards, each face down so that no one could read them before they'd chosen their character. These would represent the five new friends, or Champions, that Maggie hoped to find that September day in the Great Hall. Once she'd gathered enough people their journey would begin, and the young Hufflepuff hoped she was going to be able to do a story justice. "Hi" she smiled as a student walked past her into the Hall. It was difficult for her to start talking openly to anyone, and waving the cards around in the air she tried to get someone's attention. "Do you want to play a game?" She asked, hoping that at least one person would say yes.

So I've been thinking for a while now that I'd love a character who loves to play D&D - Introducing Maggie :D

If you would like to take part, please roleplay your character picking one of the coloured cards (Unlike within the roleplay, you can look at these out of character before deciding, but it's first come first serve so please make sure you don't pick one already in use). The purpose if this is just to hand out the cards randomly, so once your character has theirs they're free to tell others who they have chosen. Although this will largely be a story telling game, there will be a few stats involved so please don't change these. Additionally, please could you note what Alignment you would like your D&D character to be out of the following: Lawful Good/Neutral/Evil, Neutral Good/True Neutral/Neutral Evil or Chaotic Good/Chaotic Neutral/Chaotic Evil. It will be up to your HNZ character how they want to portray them - Characterceptionnnn

Throughout the game there will be a few decisions to be made by dice roll! Please use this random dice generator when instructed to by Maggie. This is just meant to be a fun game rather than stress over winning or losing!

Lets see how this goes :r

It was his third year at Hogwarts, and Alistair still didn't feel like he was entirely ready to face another year of school, of living in a castle full of hundreds of other people, another year of full moon nights spent uncomfortably locked up underground. It was never what he had dreamed his life would be like, but it was what he was slowly growing used to, and he hated how familiar it was all becoming. He just wanted to get through the next few years as quickly as humanly possible - if humanly was a word he thought he could still use. What the werewolf needed was a distraction, something to keep his mind off of his own stresses and fears long enough to help him through another four years of being stuck somewhere he didn't really want to be.

A distraction came, surprisingly, in the form of a young girl waving her arms about as Alistair walked by the Hufflepuff table, and he stopped abruptly, looking around in case she was talking to someone behind him, but no, it didn't seem to be the case. "Hi." Alistair repeated back to the girl, looking quizzically at the little set up she had spread across the table. "A game? What kind of game?" He'd played exploding snap, gobstones, wizards chess, but he hadn't seen anything quite like this before. With nowhere in particular to go and little better to do, he tentatively sat down on the bench and listened to the girl, and reached for one of the cards, picking up the blue one. It was the colour of Ravenclaw house, and Ravenclaws were smart, allegedly, so he thought maybe it was the smart choice to do. Eyeing over it, he frowned in confusion. "I picked a goblin! But whats a mage? Is it like a wizard? I thought goblins weren't allowed to use magic?" He asked, not entirely aware of how made up the game was, and completely mistaking the hobbit for something his mind actually recognised. Would he have to pretend to work at Gringotts? He had so many questions.

As the student stopped in front of her, Maggie wondered if he was about to tell her she wasn't allowed to be playing in the Great Hall, and she'd have to pack up her things and head back to the common room or student lounge. Surprisingly however, he seemed interested at the idea of a game, and she watched him pick out the blue card with a small smile. "You have chosen Comeme Took. He's a Hobbit" She clarified, wondering how this boy had never come across such creatures before. She was a muggle born and had been brought up on famous fantasy books and films, and couldn't imagine anyone not knowing about it. Maggie nodded when he asked if it was a mage "He is a wizard. You can pick one of these for his weapons" She added, holding two smaller additional cards out for him to choose from. "When you fight you will fight with this" She explained. "When more people have joined I will talk you through a story, and you and your friends will have to try and win." Obviously she couldn't say too much about what the story was until the other had arrived, it would be an unfair advantage. "It is up to you if you want to work as a team or not. Oh, and you also need to pick an alignment" She hoped she wasn't talking too quickly. "Is Comeme a good or evil character? It is a roleplay game so the story will change a little bit depending on it" She smiled at him, realising she'd never properly introduced herself. "I am Maggie Ryan by the way. First year Pufflehuff" She added, completely unaware that she'd gotten it mispronounced. Glancing up and around the Great Hall, she hoped more people would join so they could soon begin playing. Maggie had spent a while figuring out what story she was going to do, and couldn't wait to get started.

Perry was hungry and decided to go for something to eat in the Great Hall. When he entered the large area he saw a girl setting up what looked like a game. Perry loved games and hoped it was something a muggle could do. He hated all the magical ones and desired back to stratego and monopoly. When Perry walked up to the girl she asked if he wanted to play a game. Perry nodded and sat down. There was already another boy and thus he waited for his turn to pick some card. He had heard of the game, but never played it. It did sound and look like all the MMRPGs he did on his computer, so it wouldn't be as difficult.

His hands rose above the black and the orange cards. He opted for the black one since it looks more mysterious. Who knew what it was going to be. He turned the card over and looked at it. It said Elf and ranger something he used to play in his online games.''Wicked, does that mean I am going to be a cool elf ranger now?'' Perry twirled the card in his hand and waited for the girl to explain his card.

Geo was sat eating her lunch at the Hufflepuff table when a younger girl caught her attention near the end. She didn't recognise her and figured she must be one the new first years, but she watched with interest and she had prepared the end of the table into what looked like a small family gathering. Perhaps she had siblings here and they were having an update? A few minutes passed and by the time Geo looked up once again, two of her classmates had joined the younger girl, and were sat picking out coloured cards. Finishing off her food, she stood up from her space on the bench, and walked further down the hall to see what exactly was happening. She gave Perry a smile, and while she knew the other boy from her lessons she couldn't recall his name. "What's this then?" She asked, lifting herself up to sit on the table, overlooking the event from above. This clearly wasn't the family event she had initially believed it to be, and instead they were talking about elves. She glanced over Perry's shoulder to see what he meant, although that didn't little to explain her confusion. If they were going to be roleplaying, Geo had enough on her plate without trying to get involved with someone else's fictional life, but it could be good entertainment and she needed something to keep her distracted from the guilt she still felt about Jess. Picking up a handful of grapes from the table, she glanced to the other boy she didn't know. "Have you played this before?" She asked.

Maggie smiled nervously as another student approached the group. Both boys looked slightly older than her, and she wondered whether they were first years or not. As the second boy chose the black card, Maggie offered out the two additional mini cards that corresponded with his chosen character. She nodded eagerly at his question, glad that the game was beginning to get traction with the other students, and looked up as a third older student joined them. "This is Dungeons & Dragons. Do you want to join us?" She asked the girl, holding out the remaining three coloured character cards. It would have been a lie for Maggie to say that having so many students around her was already beginning to get overwhelming, but this what she was here for, and she wanted to stick it out and see it through.

The older girl declined her offer, seemingly more interested in watching her friends play than joining in herself, which was perfectly fine for the younger Pufflehuff. With three places remaining she hoped that a few more would join them. "You should pick your alignment too" She added to the second boy, before exchanging names with him. She had a lot of new faces to learn and Maggie hoped she could keep up. As they talked amongst themselves, she continued to wave the cards in the air for any passing student as they came in and out the Great Hall.

Alistair listened intently as the girl explained his role, though he was quickly perplexed as she explained he wasn't a goblin as he had thought, but a hobbit. "A hobbit?" He queried, looking over the card again, and the little image it contained. That didn't sound right, he'd certainly never heard of a hobbit before, and made a mental note to ask one of the librarians about them later, in case it was something he'd missed in one of the history lessons. It was a little exciting, learning about this new creature, and he wondered if perhaps it was a distant cousin of a goblin, or maybe even the pukwudgies he'd grown to be familiar of back in America. It was his sister's house at Ilvermorny, and he thought that the creatures looked alike enough. Introducing himself quickly as Alistair, a third year, the youth asked for a moment to sit quietly and process the information before he could come to a decision, as another two students joined them. Both he recognised from some of his classes, but, and like with most other students, they was some he'd never really spoken to before. The girl certainly stood out in his year, however, and he knew enough about her to know her by name at least. The boy on the other hand, he struggled with. Percy? He didn't want to risk getting it wrong out loud, so he just gave them a small smile in greeting.

If he wasn't confused enough already, the other boy's card choice had him questioning if Maggie actually knew anything about magical creatures, but before he could question it, he was surprised to hear Geo direct a question at him, and he shook his head in response. 'This is my first time. I haven't heard of this game before." He admitted, though he couldn't help eyeing Perry's card and its obvious flaw. "I didn't know House Elves could look like that?" He said aloud. He didn't want to embarrass the girl for getting the detail wrong, but he couldn't help but ask about it, since it seemed like it was becoming a common theme to be getting the races wrong. It would be awkward if next someone drew a centaur, and she started calling it a mermaid.

Alistair looked more confused after Maggie had tried to explain what a Hobbit was, and while she could understand that some people had never played Dungeons and Dragons before, she hadn't expected students not to have any idea what she was talking about. That much was obvious when he questioned Perry's elf, and she glanced back to the blonde boy with a slight frown on her face. How else could she explain it? Perhaps he was just as perplexed at the thought of muggle games as she was at facing the real world that was now her new school. Maybe he would be able to help her navigate through what was now considered to be her norms, but for now it was her turn to help him. "These elves are not like.. house elves" She wasn't quite sure exactly what he meant by a house elf, but judging by his tone it obviously wasn't what he thought Perry's character was. "Have you never ever seen the muggle films and games about elves? They are immortal and have pointy ears" She said, although the latter was obvious from the image on Perry's card. Clearly there were some difficulties they were going to face before the game even set off, but Maggie had the patience to reiterate the characters if that's what it took. Taking a break from trying to find new players, she sat down next to Alistair and pointed at the other cards in her hand. It wouldn't hurt for him to see the others since he'd already chosen. "There is lots of characters and races in this game. Do you have much experience with muggles?" She asked him, wondering if he was essentially the opposite of her. She was going off topic, but she was curious and it would make more sense. "Dungeons and Dragons is a game that you roleplay. Everyone has a character, normally a mix of different skills and heros, and then I will ask you what your character would do in a scene. Like.." She paused, trying to come up with an example that would help him to understand "You have a mage. It is mainly a wizard." She pointed to Perry "If his character got locked up you can decide if your mage would free him or not. The alignment helps you to decide that. If they are a good person then they are more likely to help but if they are evil" She glanced across to the other student in play and shrugged, suggesting he'd be screwed. "You should not think of it too much. It's meant to be fun" She smiled at him, wondering if she was scaring him away more than encouraging him. "You will get a goal and everyone will have to try and reach it. With or without teammates" she added, wondering whether the group was going to band together to win as a team or sacrifice one another to claim victory for themselves.

Matt was hungry. He was already in his third year, and it was the year where he had the chance to choose his electives instead of simply doing all classes - even the ones he enjoyed the least. Matt knew he had to try harder and it was what he was going to do, after he'd eaten something he would get a head start. However, upon entering the Great Hall and on his way to the Gryffindor table, Matt got sidetracked as he noticed that a couple of his classmates were huddled around something. His curiosity got the better of him and so the now third year approached the group, realising that there was a much younger girl explaining something to them. Only then did Matt see the muggle game on the Hufflepuff table. He reached the group just early enough to hear the last part of what the young girl was saying. "What's this about teammates?" he spoke up, always interested in seeing others participate in something, presumably a game, together. It was fun talking to people and people he mostly already knew no less. Matt squinted at the cards and not entirely sure of the rules of the game he picked a random one, since everyone else had one of their own, but in a different colour. It was the orange card and when he scanned it he grinned. "Awesome. I have the dwarf." He looked at the others. "How does this work? Has the game started?" he asked, hoping that it hadn't been explained many times before already because Matt himself never liked to repeat himself all the time.

Arvel had been watching one of his fellow first years set up a game on the end of the table for some time, though he'd yet to summon the courage to approach. As more students gathered around, however, it occurred to him that he might be missing out on something fun, and cautiously he made his way over, eyeing up the cards distrustfully. If this didn't turn out to be fun, he might be stuck playing the world's most boring game for the next six hours. Still, he didn't really have anywhere else to be. "I'll play," he said, picking up the purple card and turning it over. Oh, great. He was going to spend the next six hours pretending to be a girl. What kind of name was Cytri, anyway? Muggles had the weirdest ideas about magic. Arvel took a look at the alignment sheet, deciding fairly quickly what sort of woman his character was going to be. "I'll be neutral evil. Do I get a weapon?"

The Lancaster boy blinked slowly as the younger girl tried to explain that these elves were not in fact house elves, but some other elf all together. There was so much to wrap his head around, and he could only shake his head and feel a little awkward as he was questioned on whether he'd seen any muggle films and games, or even interacted with muggles much. It was always frowned upon in his family, to stoop to such a low level of entertainment, or to associate with the non-magical kind, but this genuinely looked fun, once he understood it a little more. He had so many questions, like how these so called elves could possibly be immortal, and even more as he was shown the other cards - a dwarf, a boar that somehow stood on its hind legs and had human hands, for some reason. Perhaps it had been transfigured by a witch? He didn't know, and he felt dumb for asking so many questions that to Maggie, and perhaps even the others, were so simple. The magical world was normal to him, and all of this muggle stuff felt so alien, yet everyone else at least seemed to understand it where he couldn't.

More students joined in, and Alistair was a little surprised to hear that someone wanted to play as "neutral evil". Did that mean he should be evil too? Was everyone else going to choose evil, and they'd all have to fight each other? He wanted to play a good character, but now he wasn't so sure. The whole chaotic to lawful spectrum was another problem. He wasn't so sure he understood the "laws" of this bizarre game world to play lawfully, but he wasn't certain he could be good and chaotic. "I think I'm going to be neutral good." He said aloud, finally, hoping that maybe other people would also choose to be good with him. That left one last part of his character creation, and the youth bit his lip, glancing back toward Maggie to get her to explain something to him again. "I don't get my weapons. They're both staffs, but what kind of wood are they made of? And what are their cores? This one is a "fire staff" so does that mean it has like, a phoenix feather? Or is it made of sycamore? My cousin works at Ollivanders and he said that sycamore will set itself on fire if it gets bored." Surely these were important details to have missed, considering how much he'd heard Emmett and Esme talk about different wands and how they responded to different people, so how did he know which staff would respond best to Comeme Took? The fire staff definitely looked a bit more dangerous and evil compared to the more natural ice staff, which could apparently heal people. It definitely must have had a unicorn hair core, then.

Perry opted that he was good. He didn't like playing evil characters so it was nice to be good. He still didn't get it, but he went along with it. ''I want card A'' it said bolt bow and it meant it had a damage dealing attack. Perry twirled the card in his hand and smiled. He was pretty oblivious about how this worked. Perry just didn't want anyone to notice his incompetence. The other guy questioned a lot about the game and he sounded pretty smart. Perry hadn't even thought of the materials his bow and arrow were made out of. ''I am going to be neutral good in this game'' It sounded like you had to confess such things so he did.

Having someone he knew here wasn't making it better. He only got more nervous with a friend around. Being good in this game made his feeling ease down a bit. He didn't want anyone to think he was a murderer. ''Am I done now?'' he said while looking at what Geo was doing.

Maggie's attention was quickly distracted from the blonde to another student who'd approached their table. Moving the cards back under his nose, she smiled as he picked up the Orange card. "We have not started yet" Maggie said, raising from her seat and gesturing that he should sit down. It was a good job that Maggie was a patient girl, as she ran through the rules for a third time, all while hoping that if any other students joined they would already be familiar with the game. She didn't mind explaining what was going to happen, and perhaps for some students they needed to hear it a couple of times, but she was sure that by the time the last card had an owner she would have more words than she'd said since she'd joined Hogwarts.

Maggie glanced up as a fourth boy joined the group, and holding out the mini cards to the two newcomers, she was glad that someone had finally chosen their alignment, and that the game was making progress in the right direction. "Yes you do. You are in Pufflehuff with me. Right?" She asked one of the student she'd recognised from the common room. They had never spoken before but she felt as though she's seen him around there. It was daunting to see so many students older than her, and she appreciated that she would soon be starting classes with at least one person she recognised.

Following the Pufflehuff's lead, Maggie nodding in acknowledgment as Alistair and Perry confirmed their alignment. She listened as Alistair explained the additional issues he was facing, however as he explained more about different wood cores, the first year was getting increasingly confused. Sure, she recalled one kind shop assistant mentioning something about wood cores when she bought her own wand, but she didn't understand it fully, and stared at Alistair blankly for a moment as she considered her response. "These woods do not have a mind of their own. Though if you would prefer to give it a magical quality?" She offered, always keen to try out something new. She would incorporate the staff having a personality if that made him feel more comfortable. It wouldn't change the game too much in the way of statistics but perhaps it would make for an additional amusing trait. She shrugged, wondering if she was going to be able to keep up with all this new information she was finding out about the magical world.

Alistair almost felt a little bad for having to get Maggie to explain things to him every two seconds, but it was necessary for him to get a better understanding and not look like a fool during the game. The last thing he wanted was to make a stupid mistake in front of so many people, and he hoped that he didn't have to continue asking about things as the game actually began. There was no telling what to expect, so he'd just have to find out in time. Though, as the Hufflepuff - or Pufflehuff as she called it, which he didn't feel comfortable enough correcting her on, not when there were already people present from her own house to do it for him - as she commented that his staff didn't have a mind of its own, it was his turn to stare at her blankly. That's not what he'd been told. Emmett said that all wands had personalities, and that, in a way, they could act on their own. He'd always been taught to take great care of his wand, in case one day it got annoyed with him and decided to stop working, or combust, or something else that meant he couldn't use it. He supposed he couldn't blame her for not knowing that, as she must have had such a predominant muggle background. Or entirely muggle, but he didn't feel comfortable asking her outright. In any case, muggles were so quirky and weird and he was learning a lot. Even though they hadn't actually started yet, he was having fun. "Okay, yeah. I'll do that. Um." The Lancaster boy thought for a moment, glad that he was getting to choose his own staff for a change, rather than it being the one to choose him. While he knew almost nothing about wandlore, only the snippets of conversation or advice his cousins had about the topic and their jobs at Ollivanders, he figured he knew enough to pick a decent wood and core for the staff he wanted."Let's see. Rowan gossips, chestnut drones, ash is stubborn, hazel moans." He recited a little softly, more for himself than anyone else at the table. The poem helped, since there were too many types of wood to remember. I'll pick the ice staff, but can it be made of rowan wood, with a unicorn tail hair core? Unicorn hair is for healing like the card says. I don't know any ice cores."

Geo honestly wasn't really aware of what was happening, but it sounded like fun. Everyone had some kind of set character and they were going to make a story out of it? The third year wasn't sure where all the numbers and stats came into it, but it sounded just like the younger "Pufflehuff" was just going to make it all up as she went along. Peering across to Perry as he decided his alignment, whatever difference that would make, she shrugged in response. He seemed to have a better idea of what was going on anyway. She noticed Alistair seemed a bit confused at the idea of a house elf versus an elf from the game, but even Geo, who had grown up in an orphanage had read a few fantasy books about the type of elves the first year was referring to. "Like this?" She asked, pulling back her pink hair behind her ear as it was slowly morphing into a point, trying to give him an idea of their distinguishing feature. It was fun after all to try out different things with her ability, and pointed eared Geo gave the group a small smile as she listened, hoping that the game would begin soon.

Maggie nodded as Alistair decided to add a specific wood to his staff, making a note to add the element into the roleplay at a later date. Once the others had chosen their alignments they would be ready to play, and taking a seat at the end of the table in order to face her players, Maggie waited for the final player to join them before they would begin. She hoped the game would progress as planned, and the students would enjoy playing. It was the first time Maggie had a large group of players, and that she didn't have to bother her older brother to join her, and looking around at her new friends she tried to control the overwhelming thought that she would mess it up, and focused instead of just doing her best to make sure everyone felt included.

Dungeons and Dragons was a game Gideon had only played once or twice, due to the difficulty of joining groups while he was off at magic school for the most part of a year, and those one or two times had been with local muggle children, given the further difficulty of finding wizard kids who knew about the game, let alone were interested enough to play something that wasn't inherently magical by their standards. So it was exciting to see a diverse group of students gathered around one of the tables, seemingly getting prepared to start a campaign of their own. For a second, Gideon thought to run off and find Gilly to try drag her in and join with him, but the spots were filling up fast and he doubted he'd have time to find her and get back before they were well into their first quest. Instead, he sat down in one of the available spaces and grinned at the group, familiar with some of his classmates, but less so by the two smaller children. First years, he guessed, thinking he'd seen their faces during the Sorting Ceremony. No wonder it was the first time he'd seen a group of people playing, the DM must have been freshly sorted. "Hey hey, guys. Can I hop in?" He asked, despite hearing the small girl calling out for people to openly join before. On confirmation, he looked at the lone remaining card, made a brief show about agonising over how difficult it was to pick, and finally lifted it up to see what was inside. "Sweet as, I'm a minotaur! Ah, nope, I'm a boar. With muscles. Look at those arms, damn. Drorin Schwarzenegger the Brave. He hits the medieval gym every day and chain-drinks protein shakes made by the local alchemist. His parents were killed by a traveling werewolf butcher who blew down his family house with some wind magic and then turned them into sweet smoked ham. He's out for revenge against the butcher and all wolf people alike in order to protect his bacon brothers, because their homes are made of sticks and straw." He wasn't one for the most original of thoughts, ripping the backstory straight from a muggle book with an edgier twist. "He's Chaotic...Neutral? He does both bad and good to get what he wants and fulfill his need for revenge."

Maggie turned her head and nodded as yet another older student joined them, although at least this one seemed to know what he was talking about. The Pufflehuff felt as though he spoke very fast though, and it was hard to keep up with everything he was saying, but this enthusiasm was astounding and she couldn't keep a wide smile off her face as she caught sections of his character's background. Holding out the final cards to the boy, Maggie proceeded to make sure that introductions were complete. It was make things more complicated if student didn't know each others names, although it seemed most of the older students recognised each other.

Once the game was ready, Maggie took a seat on the end of the bench, a board full of statistics and weapon choices in front of her to make it easier for them to feel immersed. The last thing anyone needed was to spend unnecessary time waiting for her to figure things out, and with all the information easily accessible they could begin. The eleven year old did her best to quieten the crowd, gaining their attention so she could properly set the scene. "The five of you are gathered in a small cosy tavern on the outskirts of the town of Westhallow, sat around a table in the corner with your ales and your..protein shakes," she began, glancing to newest member of their party. "Your weapons at your side or upon your person as you relax to enjoy what has been promised to be a care free night. The sun has gone down in the sky, and a fire burns at the back of the room, making it warm and comfortable. You have received a message that the bar man of this tavern has a quest for you, and you have gathered at this meeting point to discuss his plans. He needs a strong, brave, wise and noble team for his mission, and each one of you were specially selected to be involved." Maggie looked between the members as she spoke, hoping they could picture it in their minds as well as she could. "You are waiting for the bar man to finish his work, and to talk with you about his plan, when a large, earthy green troll, with hair coming out in very unusual places, and large grey teeth that protrude from his mouth, stumbles clumsily over to your table. He leans against it with one arm, and points an ugly finger with an unkempt dirty nail towards the smallest member of your group." Maggie stood up from the bench, leaning across the table in a similar fashion as the creature in her story, before snapping her head to look at Alistair. Impersonating the troll, Maggie did her best impression of its deep and threatening voice, "Thee 'obbits got no manners. Starin' at us from across thee room ee is, disrespectin us ee is. Wot you got to say for yerself?" Maggie's eyes bore into the Slytherins, remaining suddenly quiet as to draw upon the effect. After a few moments had past, Maggie sat back down, her voice returning to one more usual for the first year. "What do you do?" Asking the table she looked around between the group, wondering who would be first to say something, or whether they'd try to get out of the situation without their words. Soon they would be out on their first quest, but first they had to get it.

Arvel picked the Serum Dagger - obviously. Why would Cytri the Passionate want to tranquillise anybody when she could force the truth out of them, instead? They were joined by a final boy, who even managed to tease a smile out of Arvel with his ridiculous backstory for 'Drorin Schwarzenegger the Brave.' Then the game began - too soon for Arvel even to think any longer about how he was going to act. He was suddenly nervous about the idea of improvising, but Maggie's story filled him with so many ideas that his worries were almost immediately forgotten. He waited for the troll to stop making silly accusations before jumping in. "Um, I tell the troll that... it's five against one, and I really want to find out what this Serum Dagger does, so... why don't we buy you a protein shake, and just forget the whole thing happened?"

Alistairs draw dropped slightly as Geovanna casually morphed her ears - no wand, nothing. It was impressive, and he couldn't be sure it was a combination of both wandless and non-verbal magic, which he could hardly believe to be the case, or she was like one of those metamorphs. To see something perform transformative magic so easily and on a whim, he couldn't help but feel a little envious. He wished he had that kind of control over his changes, to easily just transform himself whenever he felt like it, without being forced to do so once a month. There was little time to ponder over it, however, as they were soon joined by another somewhat familiar third year, who seemed more into the game than any of them, with a backstory pulled out of seemingly nowhere. Alistair hadn't even had a chance to figure out his own character's life. He still didn't even fully know what a hobbit was, what their lives were like, what they could do. His mind was stuck picturing Comeme Took as the last goblin he'd seen when he visited the vaults over the holidays to deposit some galleons, now that he was making his own money.

Suddenly, they were thrown into a scene, hanging out as a group in some tavern when out of the blue a troll interrupted them and pointed his character out. Bewildered, Alistair's eyes widened, unaware his hobbit had even been staring at anyone, let alone a troll. "Uh, uh..." He stammered, at a bit of a loss for words at being thrown so quickly into confrontation, and how enthusiastic Maggie was as the character, though thankfully someone else at the table spoke up before he could garble out a proper response. He nodded along with what Arvel was saying, yet he wasn't sure if he was trying to diffuse the situation, or aggravate the troll further. It seemed a lot like both were happening. "Yeah, um, and I apologise for staring and agree with...Cytri. I say I'd be happy to pay for his drink, one for him and his owner." It had to be a Ministry troll, right? One of those ones that were trained by a wizard for security purposes. This was sounded like he was still in the process of being trained to be civilized, and maybe thats why it was in such a public space. Surely they wouldn't let one in a tavern on its own, so Alistair guessed his trainer had to be around nearby, too.

Matt nodded, the rules were pretty simple. "Cool, then I'll be Neutral Evil and the weapon I choose between these two is, um," he glanced back and forth between the two before pointing to the second card. "I'll go with the Dash Grenades." It wasn't long before someone else joined them and Matt recognised him from the dorms, so he nodded to Gideon in acknowledgement. The game then started and Matt listened to the story given, before two other people spoke and the Gryffindor watched what was going to happen next. He didn't know whether he needed to say something now, or wait, or what, so instead he waited for the first year's signal or a sign that it was his character's turn to act.

Gideon returned Matts acknowledging nod, and opted for the twin axes once offered the weapon cards for Dronin, as tempting as the high damage was on the single axe, the defence balance that came with the two meant he could live longer, and he figured he'd probably need it. The Gryffindor had a tendency to get characters killed off early with a mixture of over-confidence and poor decision making. "This one is Angry Alice, and this one is Fierce Florence. Giddy picked up two forks from the table to simulate his dual axes, showing one after the other. "They're the loves of Drorin's life. His heart belongs to them - them, and revenge." He stated to the group, already having a great time. The boy leaned in to listen intently as the story unfolded, and grinned in excitement as right off the bat there was drama. He looked at the two boys as they spoke, before leaning back and brandishing his forks together. "Drorin remains relaxed in his seat - enjoying his protein shake - but he purposefully flashes Alice and Florence for the troll to see, so it knows we aren't to be messed with!"

Analei was sitting in the Great Hall, trying to get some homework done. She found herself too relaxed in her dorm room; which wasn't necessarily a bad thing, but it did mean that she was prone to napping and day dreaming rather than actually doing her homework. Frustrated with herself, she moved to a place where she hoped she wouldn't get distracted. Even in the library, she was sure she'd rather seek out books to read.
Analei had found that it was a good decision. She had finally put the finishing touches on her homework, and was sure she was going to get an Outstanding for it. The blonde looked up and saw a small group of people huddled around some cardboard. Curious, she packed her things and walked over slowly, trying to get a peek at what they were doing. She heard a few words "loves of Drorin's life..." and she wondered what was going on. They continued talking and each of them had a turn to say something, but Analei couldn't, for the life of her, understand. She recognized two of the students as Hufflepuffs, but she didn't want to say anything; she couldn't even think of anything to say, and she also didn't want to be known as the weirdo that watched people. Analei quickly came to her senses and rushed out of the Hall, baffled by what the other kids were talking about.

Maggie listened as they tried to decide what to do. She was so focused she didn't even see that another student had come over to watch for a moment, and instead her eyes were glancing between Arvel and Alistair. "Roll your dice" She instructed them both with a nod. The outcome of the such would determine how the troll would react, and whether the group would avoid any further tension with their acquaintance. As they were doing so, she smiled at Gideons description of the weapons, glad that at least someone was enjoying the game.

OOCOut of Character:
Now that the game has begun you're welcome to use OSW style posts. Also please make sure your dice is set to 20. Link to dice is in the first post

The die the group was using for the game was unlike any Alistair had ever seen, far more complicated than the usual six sided die he was familiar with. He gave the die a small shake in his hand, before rolling it across the table. His face fell. "Seven. Is that bad?"
