Chloe looked around and sighed. She had just finished having dinner in the great Hall and she had been trying to get to get back Tovar’s Ravenclaw Tower. However, she must of taken a wrong turn somewhere, because now she was in a place she didn’t recognise at all.

Nervously, she looked around, trying to figure out which way she needed to go to get back to the Ravenclaw common room. Perhaps she could ask someone where to go?

Slowly, Chloe walked towards another student. “Um, hello?” She said, nervously. “I’m lost and I need to get back to my common room. Could you help me, maybe?”

Jerara had retreated away from the prefect's meeting, only staying as long as it was necessary for him to do so. The teen had watched Tristan leave the room without saying a word to him, without so much of a hint of a hint of a smile. He felt like going after him, demanding he at least acknowledge him properly, but Jerara hadn't thought the fight worth it. Instead he'd just left the very first moment he could, without too much of a goodbye to October and headed back up to the stairs. He'd taken a book with him to the meeting, which he was pleased about since he didn't even have to head back to the dorm to get one. It was instead just as he'd settled himself and opened the book to read that the head boy had been interrupted, a younger girl had wanted to find her way back to the common room.
"Sure I can," She was clearly a first year and he as head boy knew his duty. Maybe Tristan had deserved it more than he had for all the times he'd helped kids like this girl, or in the connections he'd made with people that Jerara had made with books. Jerara had worked hard for six years, his 12 OWLs were to show for it, he deserved this. The sleepless nights revising hadn't been for this but he had still worked hard to deserve this. He pushed down his frustration and gave a little smile to the girl, "Let's go," the head boy folded the page in his book and got to his feet, "What house are you in?" Jerara said with a friendly tone. Maybe he wasn't as good at socialising as Tristan but Jerara could be nice when he wanted to. "You'll get used to this place soon enough, it just very very big,"

Chloe smiled, relived that this boy was going to help her find her way back to her common room.

"It is really big here," she said. "I thought I was getting used to making my way around here but I must have taken a wrong turn." She smiled. "Thank you for helping me. Oh - and I'm in Ravenclaw."

Jerara looked at the girl as he slipped the book into to his back pocket. He cast his mind back to first year, he'd spent a lot of time in the library and gotten lost a couple of times, but he'd been so prone to all of the exploring to find good reading spots that he'd quickly gotten used to the place, just as he imagined this girl would too. "You'll get used to it, trust me," the head boy assured her and he returned the little smile she gave him. "Oh ravenclaw! I'm in Ravenclaw too, so I definitely know the way and if it helps you weren't far off," Jerara motioned in a certain direction before heading off, "I'm Jerara, how are you enjoying Ravenclaw?" he didn't hold out his hand to her to shake since they were walking in a certain direction. This girl didn't know anything about what was going on within Jerara's new head boy life, she wouldn't know that he could assume most people didn't think he deserved it when compared with Tristan. It was almost nice to be head boy and do something to help a younger student without that thought lingering over his head.

"I'm really enjoying it so far," Chloe said, following Jerara down the hallway. "I'm just getting used to it. I love the common room, it's so beautiful and we have such a good view." She frowned

"I'm trying to make friends too. I lived in a place with no other wizards of witches my age so I was pretty lonely and it'd be great to be able to talk about spells and books." She paused, then turned to Jerara. "Oh! I almost forgot! My name is Chloe."

Jerara smiled a little as she spoke, he remembered the first few days at school, that overwhelmed feeling as he tried to get to grips entirely with a world he had only just been introduced to. The teen had come a long way since then, but he could at least agree with her that the common room was nice and the view was pretty incredible. ”It is a good view,” the teen replied with a fond smile agreeing easily with her. He could also understand the desire to make friends, especially as a new student. He hadn’t been particularly good at it, but he’d tried and he was at least friendly with people now. He had maybe lost his only real friend because of his new position but it wasn’t his fault that this had happened. ”We’re friends now Chloe,” the boy replied using her name which she had just given, ”I love talking about spells and books. In fact it’s one of my favourite things. I can show you a really cool spell that I know how to do,” The head boy offered to her with a little smile.

Chloe's eyes widened excitedly. So far, she hadn't really had anyone to discuss or practice magic with. Her parents had refused to let her try out some spells with her new wand at home so she'd only started practicing spells yesterday. So far, she had practiced Lumos and was working on the Hovering Charm.

"I've been reading all of my spell books and I tried out a couple of them. I'd love to see your spell too," she said excitedly.

Jerara felt a little smile cross his features as she seemed genuinely excited for him to show her a spell, and with all the classes he had there were plenty for him to pick from. Maybe all 10 of his NEWT classes had come in handy, with plenty of him to pick from, he deserved his position just for all of the classes he did, being social wasn’t the point of school. Being so wrapped up in this fight with Tristan, in wanting to learn everything, he'd forgotten perhaps the simple joy of just being able to do a new spell. ”Once I’ve shown you my spell, you can show me your best Lumos?” the head boy figured that having her do a little magic would be good too. Jerara took out his wand and held it lightly in his hand, he thought about a little yellow canary bird, imagining it in his head then said, ”Avis” a little canary bird suddenly appeared in front of them. He held out his hand and the bird settled on it, it was singing loudly, chirping away happily, he held out his hand and the bird upon it to the girl, ”Pretty cool right?” Jerara had really enjoyed the conjuring magic of 6th year transfiguration, he loved that he could do it too. He was good at magic and doing magic, all and every kind was something he enjoyed, ”Do you want to show me your Lumos?” the head boy asked.

Chloe watched in amazement and delight as the small canary bird flew around before settling on Jerara's hand. He held it out to her. She carefully reached out and stroked the top of it's fluffy yellow head. This was the reason she loved magic - the joy and happiness it was capable of.

Chloe pulled out her wand. "I'll try my best," she said. "I think I've mastered it though..." She held her wand out in front of her and concentrated. She forgot about Jerara and his she had gotten lost and focused on her spell.

"Lumos!" she said. A white light started to emit from her wand tip, bathing her face in the light. She held it there, smiling, before she lowered her wand and said, "nox."

Seeing Chloe’s amazement at his spell gave him a very strong feeling of vindication, he, the head boy as chosen by the head mistress, was helping a younger girl find her way and amazed her with magic. He deserved this position, Tristan be damned. If it cost him his only friend in the school he would just have to pay that price. He would just need to focus on his magic, his reading his exams and doing what was necessary for him to hold on to this position. The teen looked at the girl as she tried the spell, managing to both turn the light on and off, ”Wow, that’s really good,” the head boy said sincerely, ”For a first spell before classes have even begun, that’s very impressive. You are definitely a ravenclaw,” he complimented. He was sure that other students in the other houses maybe managed just fine, but he thought it was still worth of appreciation and a few compliments. ”Which class are you looking forward to most?” he asked. He still had the little canary bird in his hand, but didn’t want to vanish it in front of the first year.

“Thank you!” She replied, happy that she had managed to produce such a strong light. As they walked through the halls, she thought. She was really looking forward to Charms...and Transfiguration...oh, and Flying Lessons. To be honest, she was looking forward to all of her subjects.

“I’m excited to do all of them,” she said to Jerara who was still holding the small bird. She wondered how long it would take take for the spell to wear off. “I’m really excited for Charms and Transfiguration though. Who teaches those subjects?”

Jerara smiled at her, not unsurprised when the girl seemed excited to do all of them. He’d been keen to do all of them, had done all of them for three years. The head boy moved the bird so it sat satisfied on his shoulder. It was a little thing and he’d let it go free soon. ”Charms and Transfiguration are good, the spell I did to conjure the bird is transfiguration,” he knew that wasn’t what she’d asked, but he thought it would still be a good thing to tell her about it. ”There’s only one charms professor, Professor Haden, he likes being called by his name though, Misha. He’s a very relaxed professor, good but relaxed. There are two transfiguration professors, the one you’ll get is Professor Summers, he’s a very good professor, don’t be daunted by his lectures, they are necessary. The second transfiguration professor is for upper years like myself, she’s Professor Burke, she’s a good professor too, less theory heavy which makes sense in the latter years,” Jerara hoped that answered her question and would be happy to answer any more that had to do with it.
