Good evening (or morning, or afternoon, or any other relevant time)

As many of you are aware, each month, we like to shine the spotlight on one of our members and celebrate one of their characters. We had a slight hiatus last month as we didn't want that spotlight to get lost amongst all of the start-of-year craziness however, this month we have a fantastic member to make up for it.

This month we are spotlighting none other than @Lucy Montague played by the increadable Sarah.
Congratulations Sarah
We are impressed by how active Lucy has been in roleplays already despite only being a second year and how simple, beautiful and coordinated her biography and Aesthetic are (as are all of Sarah's, I really recommend you check them out).

we sent Sarah a questionare so that we can all get to know the person behind the character and some pretty cool processes on how they develop their characters (that i am absolutely going to borrow)

What was your initial thought when you were contacted about being spotlighted?
I was really surprised! Really pleased too! I wasn't expecting it at all.

What was the inspiration for your character?
I wanted to do someone who was completely different from my first character, Demetrius. That was my main starting point. I then did a tarot spread, which I like to do for my characters, which put some of the bigger details together. She's also somewhat inspired by some people I know in real life - because I'm not a social person by nature, I sort of emulated them in a way.

What is your favourite RP that your character has taken part in?
Picking just one is hard, but A Little Visit with Deus was a lot of fun. It's them just messing around in the Conglomerated Arts room basically, having an impromptu jam session.

What is your favourite aspect of your character?
I like how enthusiastic she is. Lucy really looks forward to the things she looks forward to. She carries that enthusiasm really well, and it's fun to write.

Your least favourite aspect?
This one's hard. I think she takes things for granted a lot. It isn't really something I've delved into on the forum but it's there.

If you could meet your character in real life would you want to? Why or why not?
Yeah, I think she'd be fun to hang out with. We could both play violin together and I think that'd be a neat thing to do.

What do you feel your strength in developing characters is?
I think I'm good at taking disparate aspects of a character and drawing them all together into one cohesive whole.

Your weakness?
I get a bit too attached to trivial details sometimes in lieu of the bigger picture.

What would you recommend to those looking to further develop their characters?
I think tarot is a really fun way of developing characters! Just do a three-card spread with past, present, and future and see how that guides you. You don't have to be an expert on it either, you can just use your intuition from the images that show up and create your own meaning. If you're confused by a result, I just draw another card and see if that clears things up.

What are you most looking forward to on HNZ in the next several months?
The Yule Ball is coming up next month! I'm excited for that.

What is your favourite part of HNZ?
I love watching characters grow and change - mine and others - and seeing how things develop. It's just really fascinating to me and I love it.

please join me in wishing Sarah a huge Congratulations or ask any burning questions you may have.

well done

Woo congrats Sarah! I love Lucy (lol) and I thoroughly enjoy reading her threads! I really like the tarot spread idea for character development, that's a really unique and interesting way of doing it. Fitting for this space too! Definitely curious to see how her taking things for granted will impact her later on but I love her enthusiasm and how bright she is.

My question is, is there anything specific you're hoping to delve into or achieve with Lucy as she grows?

Thank you so much, Camilla! And that's a very good question. I think Lucy is getting a good number of friends, which is what I'd hoped for her initially. I don't have much planned; I'm not really used to thinking long term for characters which is something I'd like to work on. The one thing I do sort of want to delve into is that her parents are both healers, and want her to be a healer, so I'm looking at see if Lucy will break the mould and do her own thing or just comply with her parents and take that route as well. Also maybe have her have a slightly rebellious phase? I'm not sure how that'd work but I like the idea of it. Thanks for the question!

Congrats Sarah! Lucy is great fun, I've really enjoyed reading her threads.

Congratulations Sarah, I really enjoy Teddy and Lucy threads, she's a great character!
