Adelaide was more than excited. The wedding was less than a month away and she finally had her dress all prepared. That evening there she stood, in her house with Nicodemus - her soon to be step son - outside the door waiting for her to be completely dressed. Once the dress was on her body the blonde smiled in her mirror. Her heart was racing with excitement. "Niccodemus if your father is down the stairs you can come in." She spoke, loudly enough for the sound to be heard through the door. She was stroking down the fabric, taking deep breaths. It felt so surreal that she was there in a wedding dress. The doctor had decided she'd never be able to be married - but when Nicci and his father showed up that day something changed in her life.

Lately she'd been struggling to contain her excitement, and had been experiencing heat flashes, as she was in that moment. The older woman was sure it was the amazing feeling of finally being married, almost married. Adelaide placed a hand over her fluttering heart, and felt the way it beat so hard beneath her chest, the way it thudded over and over and over again - nearly bringing her worry. Her skin prickled with goosebumps and in the flash of a moment the room was ice cold, and where Adelaide was standing once, she was on the floor, weak in the knees she wanted to call out for Yossarian but she felt so weak, so nervous and prickly - everywhere. Something was wrong.

Nicodemus was in high spirits. There had been a lot of trouble in his family for the past few years, and not to mention with school, that he was endlessly happy to have something going right for a change. They had been discussing a wedding for a while now, but his father wanted to wait for the 'right time' like a proper old person. Emily was having trouble, Nathanial passed on - these things just made it seem inappropriate to have a marriage in his father's eyes, but Nico saw it the complete opposite. Weddings brightened everything in life. He turned towards the door and threw it open once he was allowed in, and smiled brightly.

"You look nice!" he complimented, closing the door behind him to insure his father didn't accidently see. They were all superstitious, and it would truly dampen the wedding spirit if such an important step wasn't adhered to. He tugged the dress a little at the back where it was bunching up awkwardly, but otherwise the Gryffindor had to agree that his step-mother looked lovely, and his dad would be so happy to see her on their wedding day. He had turned around to gt her veil for only a moment, before he heard her calling out. The young man panicked, and dropped to her side with shaking hands, and cradled her head. "Ad-Addy?" he called, trying to get a response but not finding one he could recognise. His heart was slamming against his chest as anxiety took over and he looked around the room. The door reminded him of his father's existence. Perhaps it would have been more prudent to find a healer, but the Gryffindor had failed is apparition exam and wasn't thinking straight regardless. He leapt up from his future step-mother's body and rushed to the door, calling for his father to come immediately.

adelaide's skin was soft but clammy, and for around twenty seconds she was completely unresponsive. Her mind could only try and call out, and move her lips, but fail mister ably as she attempted. The woman tried to stir, feeling Nicci's hands at her head and hearin him call Yossi. She didn't want him to see her like this, on the floor in her large wedding gown. It was to no avail though, all she could do was lay there, and crack her eyes open, desperately trying to regain breath.

Whilst a staunchly traditional man, the screams of his son were definitely not excitement over his future mother's dress, and he was quickly on the move. He rushed past Nicodemus, feeling like he was taking far too long to climb the stairs and reach his fiance. For all he knew, she was a healthy woman. She had her scars from a hard past, but so did everything, and he definitely wasn't expecting to find her on the floor gasping for breath. Had she hit her head? Was the dress too tight? Was it something else? The man was a historian, not a healer, and he had no magic to provide, anyway. His son was lingering in the doorway, close to hyperventilating himself, and Yossarian was struggling to pay attention to either of them, let alone both.

Using a tone he would soon come to regret whilst his emotions calmed, he ordered Nico from the room to contact his uncle for a healer. Yossarian cradled her head in his hand as if he were handling a baby bird and gripped her hand to try and convince her that everything would be fine. He didn't believe it, himself, but he was here to try and reassure and help his fiance. He had never felt so powerless in his entire life than when staring down at the woman he loved, and not being able to help her when she needed it.

Adelaide could hear the room around her, could feel the floor on the parts of her back and arms that were exposed, everything felt hot against her body and all at once breath came to her, and then all at once left her - and she felt as if she were gasping for breath, when in reality she was only sipping air into her lungs gently. Tears formed in Addy's eyes and she opened them to see Yossarian above her. She forced air out in what was meant to be a laugh. "You... aren't supposed to see me in my dress. Idiot." She said, her hand reaching up for his face in her mind, but in truth it didn't move, and never felt his skin. Adelaide had felt this once before. She knew she was dying. This time though she knew it was time. In the back of her mind she could hear a voice call out to her. She wasn't ready - but similarly she was. Adelaide looked up at Yossi. "You are... amazing. Don't.. forget that." She spoke with labored tone. "Yossarian Magonus.. I..." But the words could no longer be forced, as a final flicker crossed over Addy's eyes and she lay still, in her fiance's arms, in a wedding dress too beautiful to be worn only once.
