Apparition,6,1This was an important milestone in the life of a wizard, and Irene Finch knew that many of the students looked at their license as a taste of the freedom they'd earn on their way to becoming fully trained wizards. With the registration list tucked in a folder that was under her arm, the woman stepped into the room. She called attendance, making sure that no one had snuck into the room without paying their galleons. "Good afternoon, sixth years. My name is Irene Finch and I'm here on behalf of the Department of Magical Transportation and Ministry to prepare you for your apparition exam." She said all of this briskly. Irene was not a lady who liked her time wasted and she did not feel the need to mention her relationship to Ioan. It was an uncommon enough name that she figured the smart ones would make the connection. Irene paced the front as she spoke, her heels clicking as she moved, her icy blue eyes looking all of them and none of them at once. "The headmistress has been kind enough to lift the enchantment placed on this room so that you will be able to practice apparating within these walls for the duration of our lessons."

Her voice echoed throughout the room. With so few students and the furniture against the walls, her voice carried easily. The woman focused on a student in the front, her blue eyes piercing into the student. "I will warn you from the start that your ability to apparate will have little to do with what house you are in or your blood status. Your ability to apparate will, solely, depend on your ability to focus on the three Ds: Destination.Determination. Deliberation." She enunciated each word. "There are no shortcuts. If you fail to grasp these concepts, you will fail your exam. First, you must choose your destination. Next, you will focus your determination and once you feel you are ready..." With a small step, Irene apparated next to one of the sixth years who had been whispering while she was lecturing and continued, "you must move with deliberation like so."[/color] She gave the student a sharp look.

Moving towards the front of the room, Irene continued lecturing the students. She knew that some were probably expecting to apparate today but she also knew that the foundation for apparating started with this information. Soon enough their time was up, and they had done nothing but listen. "Don't forget the 3 Ds. I will see you all next time. A word to the wise: Don't bring anything with you to the next lesson. The less you carry, the easier it will be. As a reminder, the moment you step out of this room, the enchantment will be put back in place until next time we meet. It would be very, very unwise to consider apparating anywhere on the school grounds until then." With that, she dismissed the students though she waited a few moments longer in the event that any of the students had questions.

Please RP the lesson. Remember that these lessons are so that your student can earn a license. Without it, they can't apparate!

This is just the first of only three lessons before the exam takes place.

Evelyn was excited for this new lesson. It was fun because it would be given in the Great Hall and Evelyn liked coming there. She was curious if the room had changed for this lesson. Evelyn smiled at the students around her and was glad to see lots of familliar faces. When the woman entered the blonde looked at her. She was from the Ministry and looked like such a person she thought. Evelyn thought apparition was very important and handy so she wanted to do her very best and hoped that she would be succesfull. Evelyn smiled at the woman as she stood kind of in front of the large group of students. Evelyn tried to remember the three D's and knew the woman was very serious. She said them inside of her mind for a few times so that she would know them still. Evelyn looked as Professor Finch moved all of sudden to another part of the room. It was kind of cool and Evelyn wanted to do too. The blonde looked at her full bag when Professor Finch said they could leave things in the rooms, because it was easier that you took less with you. She would try to remember for the next lesson the blonde thought. Evelyn hadn't expected that they could try so soon in the first lesson so she wasn't dissapointed, but she wished the next lesson that would change soon. Evelyn thanked the woman and left the room as the lesson was over.

The holidays were over, which meant a new semester was starting. Amber was used to all her classes by now, she hadn't taken a new one since her fifth year, but it was still a little exciting to start the first week of bunch of classes she hadn't taken in a while. The start of a new semester always felt like a fresh new beginning to the Hufflepuff. She had her new stationery and was ready to take notes on the new classes.

Apparition would be the first new class Amber was taking in a while, and she was curious about it for sure. It was exciting that they would be learning this skill now, though it was also mildly alarming. To Amber, apparating seemed like something adults could do. She wasn't ready to be counted among that group in any way. She felt a little nervous as she headed into the great hall. It was a strange place for a class, which made this entire experience even more unfamiliar. She noted with some interest that the lady teaching them had the same last name as one of the ministry candidates, which also happened to be the last name of her only ex boyfriend. Amber wondered if she was related to either of them. Amber listened closely to the woman, trying to memorize all the information she was giving. The three D's seemed very important, and Amber repeated them in her head. She listened as the woman explained it a bit more, then showed them by apparating. Amber had seen it before, but she still felt impressed. She took note not to bring anything to the next lesson. Once the lesson was over, she thanked the lady quietly before leaving the hall to go to her next class.

Noemie had had a great yuleball, she knew that the boy she liked, liked her. It was nice to know that her feelings weren’t unwarranted, she just had to figure out how to tell him too. She wanted nothing more than to be his girlfriend, she wanted nothing more than the relationship that she’d watched all of her friends get into, the joy that it had brought them, even if they hadn’t all ended well. The girl’s focus on her education could relax a little, she would still try to do the best that she could, but at the very least she could take a deep breath and let herself relax a little. She could face this semester with strength, and renewed focus. The teen was still disappointed that she hadn’t scored higher than E’s in the last semester but it didn’t matter too much. She could try again during this semester to do better and during the next, when she had the NEWTs, she would hopefully manage something better, but perhaps Noemie would just have to admit that she wasn’t an O student, but an EE student. No matter how hard she tried, she never seemed to do much better. But time would tell and she need to get to class to get the ball rolling on this semester.

This was one of the classes that Noemie had been most looking forward to, after all, it was one of the classes which helped with her future. Apparition. Noemie wanted to be able to move like that. She could only imagine all the exciting things she would be able to do once she’d passed this class. It was much like flying, though here she opted to turn up. Noemie walked into the great hall with the others and looked towards the professor or well teacher as the woman got started. Telling them about who she was and why she was the one who’d be showing them how to do it. Noemie knew the importance of this class, of passing on this occasion, because she didn’t want to have to sit it again. Her attention stayed upon the professor as the woman informed them, that the ability to do it would come down to the three things they needed to focus on. Destination Determination Deliberation. She committed them to her memory as the professor then sowed them, Noemie hadn’t expected to apparate during this first lesson but she had certainly wanted to. It was a good lesson, and Noemie left the hall looking forward to the opportunity to apparate when they got the next lesson in this. She would spend some time reading about apparition and really putting the three D’s to memory.

School had never phased Rory, it was obvious in how little he cared for the authority of the place, or how little cared for the classes he was doing. The boy knew that come the end of the semester he would be heading home and the rest of his life outside of this place would definitely begin. He could already predict how most of that would go. The teen was going for his brother, since the his younger counterpart would be coming to Hogwarts in the September. He didn’t know why Aonghas wasn’t pushing back more on the whole New Zealand aspect of it all, Rory coming to Hogwarts had been to preserve the line and when he graduated it would be fine, his brother didn’t need to come here. But it didn’t matter he had other things to think about, like his classes. There was a nagging in his mind to maybe do a bit better in his classes, he had no intentions of doing anything great with his life, but he didn’t particularly want to go into the family business, so maybe with a few extra NEWTS to his name, his father might give him a bit of time to do something else. It was just annoying that studying and classes were as boring as they were, and with that he left for the class, bringing the absolute bare minimum with him.

The fact he was doing apparition was a moment he was pleased for. There would be no more side along apparition with his sister, or waiting for someone in the family to collect him so they could go home. He’d be able to do it himself, go home and leave whenever he wanted to. He could only imagine for the time being, how much more useful it would be once he had that skill. The teen stepped into the room, he already knew all about apparition, having watched others do it and tell him how it was done, but he’d just never done it himself. It did mean that he was far more eager to do the apparition himself, more so than the learning about it. But as the woman began lecturing them, Rory could assume that they wouldn’t be doing anything more than just listening to this woman drone on and on about how they were to do it, rather than just letting them get started. It was however a rare occurrence when Rory actually did pay attention, absorbed all of the information of what she was saying, after all, he would need it. He couldn’t fail this class. He had to do well in it. So he listened, took in the information and then left for the dorm once the lesson was over to write down a few bits and pieces so he could revise for it. For the first time, truly voluntary revise.

Flavio was excited to finally have the chance to learn how to apparate. It was one of the early hallmarks of being an adult witch or wizard, and he had admittedly felt a little jealous as of late seeing his older siblings apparate freely while he wasn't able to. Doing well in apparition classes would be one of his first steps to becoming fully independent, and not always relying on the floo network or portkeys to travel, and Flavio couldn't wait to begin. He arrived to the great hall with the rest of the students in his year, choosing to place himself near the front of the group so he was able to give the teacher his full attention, and so he wouldn't mishear anything the woman said as he was sure every word would be important.

Flavio noted the woman's surname was similar to one of the current candidates running for minister, but didn't give it any further thought as the lesson continued. He listened when the woman described the three D's: Destination, Determination, and Deliberation, and tried to memorize them. Pia had assured him it was better not to bring any thing with him to the apparition lessons, but in that moment Flavio wished he thought to bring a piece of parchment and a quill to note it all down anyway, worrying that he might forget the words if he didn't write them somewhere. He was glad when the woman provided a demonstration of sorts, surprising one of the other students in the room by apparating next to them. It definitely helped him remember the three D's, making him feel confident that he wouldn't forget them so easily outside of class. Shortly after the demonstration the woman mentioned not bringing anything to the next lesson, and Flavio nodded, pleased this was something mentioned to him beforehand. He resolved to show up to the next lesson with nothing in his pockets, and kept in mind that the class wouldn't begin their attempts at apparation until then. When the lesson was dismissed Flavio went over the three D's in his mind, walking out of the hall with the other sixth years.

Apparition was one of the things Hayden had been looking forward to most during his sixth year. It would mean that in future he would be able to travel instantly of his own accord without having to be escorted by one of his parents. Hayden made his way down to the Great Hall where the lessons were being held and made his way inside. He nodded at some of the familiar faces in the room as he waited for the lesson to begin. Hayden watched as a woman, who introduced herself as Irene Finch, began the lesson. After informing the students who she was and where she was from she began the lesson and began to talk to them about the concept of the three Ds and their importance to successful apparition. Hayden listened carefully as she told them what each was and before he knew it she was bringing the lesson to an end. He was disappointed that they wouldn't be practicing during that lesson but he was confident that when they did try he would be successful.

With the first week of classes begun November was nervous for them all but Apparition stuck out the most. She hoped it wouldn't be anything like Charms, a class she vowed not to continue in any longer. Getting into the Great Hall she was surprised by the lady's loud voice coming from a small frame. November herself was rather petite and small but quiet. The lesson began and she paid attention, trying not to make comments with Flavio during the lecture. She sighed with relief when the teacher announced they wouldn't be practicing actual apparition that week. She didn't feel prepared in her mind, coming back to school after the holidays was always such a whirlwind. Three D's were stuck in her head and she knew she'd be going over them throughout the week. Maybe even in just normal everyday life she'd try the three D's, not all together of course, since she didn't want to even think about attempting apparition outside of the classroom. She followed her boyfriend out of the hall at the end of the lesson, feeling less nervous than when she went in.

As time had passed at school, little by little Ainsley had felt the awe and wonder she felt at being surrounded by real magic sap away. It was hard to keep being shocked by magic when you ate under an enchanted ceiling three times a day. But that was why as soon as she had learned what apparition was, Ainsley had yearned to learn how. Teleporting from place to place was thrillingly magical, and as Ainsley joined her peers for their first apparition lesson, she couldn't help but feel like the little wonderstruck girl who had first arrived at Hogwarts so many years ago now. She listened eagerly as the teacher introduced herself, unable to help bouncing slightly on her toes with excitement. Despite her fidgetiness she listened intently, taking in everything the teacher said and making sure to memorise it all. Three D-s were easy enugh to memorise, and Ainsley was certainly determined to get this right if nothing else. She couldn't quite help gasping as before her very eyes the professor disappeared from where she had been standing, and reappeared across the room. Ainsley's impulse was to applaud, but she knew that would probably be a little strange so she kept quiet, listening to the end of the lesson. She was disappointed not to get to try it herself today, but she committed the three D-s to memory, and made a mental note not to bring much with her for the next class. Excited to learn more, Ainsley made her way out of the room, already eager for the next lesson.

Studying had certainly taken a backseat to Quidditch for Lizzie over the last few years, but there was one skill in particular that she was especially eager to learn. Her parents had taken her side-along apparating countless times in the past, and Lizzie was extremely ready to have that freedom to travel wherever she wanted on her own. She made her way to the Great Hall with the rest of her classmates, listening as the teacher introduced herself and told them a bit about the course. Lizzie's parents had tried to prepare her for this course, so she was already familiar with the three D-s, but she made sure to listen carefully and pay close attention, a little amused to see some people startled as the woman apparated across the room. Lizzie was eager to get started herself, but to her disappointment the first lesson seemed to be nothing but a lecture. It was something though, and Lizzie did her best to actually listen, eager to get going and try it herself. Once class was over she headed out, still disappointed not to have done anything yet, but excited for the next class.
