Knox hadn't known about the magical world for too long, only having gotten his letter to Hogwarts a month before school started in September, because he'd barely met the threshold for age requirement since his birthday was in late September, technically after school started. He wondered if his eleventh birthday had been in January or something if he'd found out about magic back then and given him more time to learn all about the magical world. But instead he only had about two months worth of knowledge of this entire secret world and been thrown straight into it.

The school representative who had visited him at the orphanage had given him two Chocolate Frogs as a treat for him taking the news so well - who wouldn't be excited at the thought of being magical? But the real treat to Knox weren't the frog shaped chocolates, it was the collectible cards that came with them. Knox was a collector at heart, his own collection of seashells and Pokemon cards were proof of that, but these were so much better than Pokemon cards (it hurt his heart a little to admit that) because the portraits actually moved and left of their own free will! So the moment he saw that there were cards to collect from these candies, he became a man on a mission.

So far he had 6 total unique cards, 5 bronze and 1 silver, which weren't much, especially considering the 15 duplicate cards he had. Ugh. He'd gone a little overboard buying so many Chocolate Frogs he was actually sick of chocolate at the moment, but he did what he needed to do to collect the cards, especially knowing there were Gold cards he hadn't pulled once. Unfortunately he didn't realize how common the bronze ones were and had way too many of Celestina Warbeck, apparently a popular singer he was too young to know.

So, with his 6 unique cards tucked safely in a small envelope, Knox headed to the Great Hall for lunch and spread his 15 duplicate cards out on the Gryffindor table and asked out loud, "Does anyone want to trade Chocolate Frog cards?" hoping his voice rang out even past the Gryffindor table. He didn't know how popular or unpopular card collecting was amongst his peers but he didn't mind embarrassing himself a little if it rewarded him with something new.

Teddy felt very nostalgic watching a boy attempt to trade chocolate frog cards at the Gryffindor table, it had been a hobby of his own when he had been about that age although he wouldn't be so uncool as to bring his collection to Hogwarts. No, it was safely stored under his bed at home and he hadn't touched it in years. It was kind of nice though, seeing someone else with the hobby. "I don't have any cards on me, but which ones are you trading?" He asked curiously, leaning over to see the spread of cards he had collected.

Knox was busy straightening out his duplicate cards on the table that he didn't notice who had approached until he looked up and the younger Gryffindor tried not to be intimidated. This was the Head Boy. He suddenly felt a little thrill at the idea of sharing a hobby with someone as cool as the older Gryffindor. Knox almost felt starstruck at the idea of the older boy talking to him, but he quickly tried to recover as he glanced down at his cards again. "Um, I have like 5 extra Celestina Warbeck's I'm trying to get rid of, I have 2 extra Helga Hufflepuff's - before I got here I didn't realize she was a House founder, but now that I know I'm really hoping someone will trade me for a Godric Gryffindor - I have an extra Silver Circe I'm willing to trade for any other Silver I don't have...and a bunch of other wizards," Knox said, trying not to ramble too much, pushing his cards forward for him to see.

Being new to the wizarding world, Knox didn't know who any of the famous wizards on the back of these cards were, so he wasn't too concerned with who he got so long as it was someone new to add to his collection, with the exception of a few he'd heard of. "But what I'm really hoping for is for someone to have an Uric the Oddball because I heard he wears a funny hat in it," Knox couldn't help but grin. So far he'd asked in his classes when they were forced to introduce themselves but no one had one to trade him.

ooc: been using the wiki page for random names/card types :)
