River had finished her first week here at Hogwarts. It had went surprisingly fast for the young Slytherin. She had been able to explore the Castle a little bit, finding a very cool empty classroom that would probably be of some use later on. But River had not even been outside the castle much, unless you counted Flying Class of course. Now with a free schedule and most of her readings completed for next week, the young red haired girl walked out of the castle, enjoying the crisp air.

She did not exactly know where she was going. Of course the temptations of 'out of bounds' areas thrilled her, River needed to get some footing here at Hogwarts, some knowledge of how things really worked, before she attempted such adventures. And certainly not alone she thought knowing her older sister would never break any sort of rules. Instead she would have to branch out, maybe make some friends from classes or from her dorm. It was surprisingly difficult to meet people when everyone was so busy rushing around to the next class or delicious meal in the Great Hall. River could not blame them. After all, classes were on a tight schedule and the food from the Great Hall was better than anything River ever attempted to make.

But now there was some sort of calm in the school. Students wandered the castle a little slower and River noticed a lot of people outside. People watching as she aimlessly walked about the grounds of Hogwarts. It was nice to just get out of the Castle to be honest. Without realizing exactly where she was going, she had no particular destination in mind, River found herself at the Lakefront. It was absolutely beautiful. The young girl was always drawn to the water, whether it be her love for swimming or a self-fulfilling prophecy of her name. River stopped for a moment, close to the lake, just staring at it's beauty, wondering what creatures were swimming underneath the water's surface. She had always wanted to see a mermaid.
