Chloe couldn't sleep. Classes hadn't started yet, and she was already feeling a little overwhelmed. Mostly by the number of students, but also because this castle was really living up to its name. It was enormous, and Chloe was not even sure whether she would get familiar with all the places within the walls of Hogwarts any time soon. She hoped so, but for now, she had to do something. Since she couldn't sleep, why not explore? It wasn't particularly late, Chloe usually never slept very late and was an early riser, though it was only ten o'clock now. Thankfully, she didn't have to deal much with jet lag, like some other students who came from further away than she did. She quietly put on a hoodie and shoes and slipped out of the common room, maybe taking a walk would help her clear her head. She could never sleep if her mind was buzzing so much. After a few minutes of taking many wrong turns and many flights of stairs, the Ravenclaw found herself on the bottom floor, but she'd never been here before. It was a little chilly, however, and she wasn't sure where she was or what was here. Nobody was around, either, and the girl didn't want to be caught by a professor. An older student wouldn't be so bad, if only there was someone she could ask. She kept walking, until she got distracted by observing her surroundings and tripped, almost twisting her ankle. Ouch. Now how was she supposed to find her way back?!

Jai had been acquainting himself with the lower levels of the castle, it was pretty much his home for the next seven years after all, although he couldn't help but wish that his siblings were here - it would be another year before they were able to enter Hogwarts and Jai could not wait. The Slytherin sighed as he got out of bed and decided to walk around, quite possibly in the dungeons - it was a whole lot quieter there than any other part of the castle. Not much surprise. He had gotten quite used to walking around the said area after having been acquainted with the house elves on his almost nightly trips to the kitchens. Well, something was very different though with today's walk. There was someone nearly sprawled on the floor of the dungeons - an exaggeration but still why would anyone want to be on the floor of the chilly dungeon, especially since winter had barely ended. He wondered if he should just complete bypass the girl, or take another turn that would take him out of the dungeons.

I am so sorry this is terribly late!

In the chaos of her clumsiness, Chloe hadn’t noticed anyone walk near her, though it would have been nice if someone was there so she could ask for help. She could probably walk on it, if she had to, but then she was reminded of how her mother always used to scold her when she walked on her injuries because of her fear that it would simply injure her further. She finally decided to stop examining her ankle and looked around her, surprised to find a boy hovering nearby but not quite giving her a glance. Maybe he hadn’t seen her? Chloe hesitated, but opened her mouth to speak before she could change her mind. "Hey," she called. "Hello. Uh - could you help me, please?" The first year was almost shocked to hear the shakiness in her voice.

Jai knew that he had taken too long on deciding when he heard the girl call for him - and he just knew that he was calling for him considering that he was the only one loitering in the dungeons right now aside from him. But at least he wasn't careless enough to actually get injured down here. The Slytherin sighed as he walked towards the girl, knowing that he would never hear the end of it from his mom if she ever found out that he left an injured person down in the dungeons. Well, his dad would understand, but his mom was just really harder to deal with. He stopped just right in front of the girl and examined her. He didn't see what happened but he could only assume that she had tripped in the dark over some raised part of the stone floor, or slipped. He wasn't sure if she was injured either and needed to go to the Hospital Wing - he internally groaned knowing that was a possibility. The trip from the dungeons to the third floor would be a nightmare. Jai didn't let any of his inner thoughts and emotions bleed into his expression however. "Can you stand?" his voice more monotoned than actually concerned.

Chloe thought that the boy either hadn’t heard her or perhaps decided that she wasn’t worth his time or that she was being pathetic...there could have been plenty of reasons for why it was taking him a long time to come over to her. The girl had to admit that she was relieved that he didn’t seem mean and leave her alone in the dungeons, as secretly she had been scared that if this boy didn’t help her up, she might not run into anyone else for a really long time. Most people should be in their common rooms by now, or in the library if they were older, probably. Either way, the Ravenclaw had a long walk back to the tower. She figured that she had explored enough, even if she hadn’t exactly left her room that long ago either. Chloe tried to ignore the boy’s tone as he asked her if she could stand, and she hesitated before nodding, getting up slowly, using the boy’s arm instinctively to help herself back up. "I’m not sure if I can walk properly, though," she said, glancing down at her ankle and biting her lip.
