A Change in Name

Save felt all sorts of nerves in her body. Holidays hadn't started long ago and already she was back in New Zealand at the ministry, waiting to sign her paperwork to become someone - to become Monty's real daughter. The blonde hadn't dreamed after her father abandoned her legally that she'd become anyone. though upon getting together with Reuben she thought perhaps she and he would marry and she'd be a Lagowski. But now she was going to be someone's daughter. She was going to really have a family.

Saveli looked to her father and smiled as they were called in for their paperwork. it took time - an hour at least, to move through the proceedings. The paperwork seemed treacherous now, especially since there were so many questions that the Wizarding world wanted to know. A pang of guilt struck Saveli, knowing that her father had nothing to do with this - he hadn't written her since she told him that she intended to legally become Montgomery's daughter. Perhaps he decided that was too much - though what did he care about her anyways? Sav had a dad who actually cared - even if he wasn't perfect. She wasn't exactly the perfect daughter.

The end came soon and Saveli looked at the place where they'd be placing her new legal name. Slowly she signed it, and then she printed it on the paperwork.

Months - no, years of pain, fears, tears, joy, and happiness had culminated to this moment. It was difficult for Monty to believe that it had really been so long ago he'd applied to become a foster parent, and even more astonishing that this simple act had led to him adopting a daughter. He was scared, but no more scared than he had been his entire life, and the world hadn't ended thus far. When at last they were called inside, he gave Saveli a warm smile. When she walked out again, she would be Saveli Pendleton.

At some point during the proceedings Monty felt his heart begin to race, the first breath of a panic attack creeping into his lungs, but he calmed himself by focusing on his surroundings, on the sights and sounds of the room, and on the thought that his discomfort was every bit of it worthwhile. Then, after what felt like an eternity, the end drew near; Saveli signed a paper with her new name; Monty signed his dozenth form; and then, just like that, he was her dad.

As soon as they were able, they made their way out of the maze-like building and out onto the street. Nothing had changed, yet everything had. Until that moment, their arrangement had only been temporary; now it was permanent. Monty really could say that Saveli was his daughter. Saveli never had to think of Teige again. She had somebody on whom she would always be able to rely - someone who would never, ever let her down, for as long as he had the capacity to breathe. And really, it was the very, very least she deserved.

"Well, then, Miss Pendleton," Monty said, grinning. "Where to now?"

Saveli never thought a meeting could drag on so long, but once outside - she knew that that meting would forever be in her mind as the happiest memory. She felt herself finally becoming free from the person she was. No longer was she a shunned daughter, a failed friend - She was Saveli Pendleton, with a father who cared, a boyfriend who loved her, and of course friends that felt the same. There was nothing that could be mroe joyful to Saveli than those feelings. The blonde looked to her father, thinking of what they should do. however a growl from her stomach answered for her and she chuckled. "How about some burgers?" She requested with a coy smile at him. "Signing legal documents made me hungry. i couldn't be a lawyer I'd get so fat." she joked.
