Birthday Werewolf Please do not sign up to this game if you're not going to be active on the board during play.
This is the forum variation of the game "Werewolf"/"Mafia".
For this birthday edition of the game, Cyndi and I (Claire) will be hosting together!
The Story:
In the lively village of Kilmoor, the mayor is celebrating his fiftieth birthday. A grand party is thrown in the village square, and the townsfolk eat, drink, and make merry all through the evening and long into the night. It's a party to be remembered, no doubt - but sadly, the day will be forever cast in a dark shadow. For not everybody makes it home alive.
The following morning, investigation reveals a clump of coarse, dark grey fur stuck to a fence post near the victim's house. If there was any doubt they were mauled by a werewolf, there's none now.
Team Wolf: You need to kill all villagers without getting caught.
Team Village: Find and lynch the wolves, trying not to get killed.
How we'll play:
- Sign up's will begin immediately and close on or around May 18th. Once closed, PM's will be sent out to each individual player with their roles and instructions if required.
- The game will begin on May 19th with the night phase. No one must talk in the forum during the night phase, as all villagers are sleeping. If you have a night role, this is your opportunity to PM Professor Cyndi Kingsley and Monty Pendleton with your night action.
- When the day breaks, the outcome from the previous night will be revealed, and all players will be able to discuss who they believe the werewolf is. You should decide between yourselves who to lynch, and face the consequences. Dead players may not talk, and while you may lie all you like in the thread you must not share your PM with proof of role to any player.
The fun part - The roles!
Alpha Wolf - You are the enemy. Each night you may choose one person to visit and kill. Upon death, your role will show up as wolf.
Additional Wolves (first additional wolf included at 11 players, second at 17, third at 23) - Help your Alpha make decisions during the night and keep them alive during the day. If the Alpha dies, another wolf will become the Alpha at random.
Villager - You have no special powers of your own, but you play an important role in the game. Lynch the wolves, and stay alive!
Seer - Once per night, you may look into your crystal ball to learn the role of one person.
Fool - You believe you are a seer. Unfortunately, you did not pass your classes and you're bad at your job. You will receive random roles instead of the real ones. Each random role may or may not be correct. Upon death, your role will show up as the seer.
Doctor - Once per night you may visit a player to heal them. If the Alpha Wolf attacks your target, your target will survive. You may choose to protect yourself once per game. If you heal any of the wolves, you will be eaten instead of the wolves' target.
Spellcaster (included with 12 players) - Once per night, you may visit a player and cast a spell to steal their voice. The following day, your target may only communicate in images and textless gifs, with the exception of the name of the person they are voting to lynch. You cannot visit the same person two nights in a row.
Hypnotist (included with 13 players) - You're a skilled hypnotist who sides with the wolves. Once per night, you can visit a player to block them from performing their night-time action. Your target will know they were hypnotised. At the beginning of the game, you do not know the wolves' identity, and they do not know yours.
Nosy Neighbour (included with 15 players) - You're an insomniac who spends a lot of time peeking through your curtains. Each night you may choose to watch another player. If anybody visits them, you will be alerted. You will know the number of visitors, but you will not know their identities.
Bodyguard (included with 17 players) - Once per night you may visit a player to protect them. If the Alpha Wolf attacks your target, you will kill the wolf instead. You may choose to protect yourself once per game. If you protect any of the wolves, you will be eaten instead of the wolves' target.
Other Notes:
- During the day, please make it clear who you are are voting to lynch.
- This game is played out of character, so only one account per person. It would be best to keep this account as the one you use for the whole game.
- If two or people receive the same number of lynching votes, death will be settled with a RNG.
- Due to time zones across the board, each phase will last about 24 hours to give everyone time to plan/plot/discuss/murder.
- All game discussion with fellow players must occur on the thread, or via PM for the wolves. No outside communication!
