(set just before the yule ball)

Jordie was humming as he waited for Aerin. He was so pleased she had agreed to be his date. This was going to be so much fun! He had brought some make-up, a brush and some hair accessories, everything he might need to help her get ready. His own hair was so fussy, but Onyx had taught him well. He helped his brother with his make-up all the time; Jordie hadn't been interested in wearing it himself but he had enjoyed helping his brother with it. He settled on the couch, watching the door and almost bouncing in his seat. Tonight was going to be so exciting!

Aerin was not much of a dancer or a party-er but she did like wearing flowy dresses and such. She chose something lacey, and to her knowledge the dress should be "white". She had sent Mirim a letter to send some of her dresses that she had left at home as she didn't know about the existence of a ball. Jordie had volunteered to do her hair and makeup before going together to the ball, and so they were meeting in the student lounge. Aerin wasn't much of a make-up wearer, nor did she feel the need to, but she guessed it would be fun, Jordie seemed to be enthusiastic about it at least.

She had her cane with her as always as she made her way to the lounge, tap- tapping away on the floor of the fourth floor corridor. When she found it, the young gryffindor pushed against the door, "Jordie?"

Jordie looked up at the sound of his name, smiling brightly. "Rin!" He chirped, hopping up and bouncing over. "I've got everything we need, come on," he chattered, walking back to the area he selected and looking over his supplies. "That dress is really pretty on you." He smiled, picking up the hair brush. "You're already set to be one of the prettiest girls at the ball," he chattered, not minding the way he went on.

Aerin felt Jordie's voice coming closer and followed him, finding herself a seat nearby. "Thanks, I like how it feels." She said, running her fingers against the grooves of the lace fabric. Aerin could care less whether it looked good or not, her main priority was whether she could move and eat freely, and this one allowed her to do so. She chuckled at Jordie's comment. "So what are we doing first?"

Jordie smiled, stepping a little bit closer. "Well, I would like to push your hair out of your face for a little while with a hair band. You're naturally very pretty so doing your make up shouldn't take long, its really just highlighting. Can I?" He asked, picking up a hair band. He wanted to move slowly with this, not startle Aerin and have her permission every step of the way. It was a little more cautious than he usually was, but Aerin couldn't see him to tell him no.

Aerin didn't think (or know for the matter) that she was pretty, "I am?" No one outside of her family had ever called her pretty, or if they did, Aerin hadn't heard of any rumors that called her pretty in her old school. She didn't know what highlighting was, but she hoped it wasn't painful.

"I can do that." She said, reaching out for where she assumed was the hair tie, but missing slightly. She turned her hand and opened her palm expectantly. She wasn't against Jordie touching her hair, otherwise she wouldn't have let him do her hair in the first place, but something as simple as tying her hair, she'd rather do on her own.

Jordie laughed lightly, giving her the hair tie and going through his makeup options. "Yes, you are," He told her easily. While he waited for her to tie her hair back, he pulled up a chair so he could sit in front of her. He hummed lightly, organizing his things a bit better. "Are you looking forward to the ball?" He asked.

Aerin received the hair tie and pulled her hair back into a low ponytail and waited for this “highlighting”, leaning slightly. “Maybe? I’m more looking forward to the food than anything.” Aerin never really liked her father’s political social functions or old, school events that required them to dress up and sit for majority of the time, but she guessed the yule ball would be a bit different, since it was meant to be fun.

-godmodding approved-

Jordie chuckled a bit. "Sure, food is good. Do you want to dance while we're there? I know how," He promised, settling down in front of her and setting to work. He tried to chat with her idly while he worked, guiding her gently as he applied the makeup. A little bit of eyeliner and some eye shadow, mascara, a light lip gloss, a little bit of blush. Jordie smiled as he finished, sitting back. That hadn't taken very long at all. "There, perfect! You look amazing," He complimented, moving the chair back to where he'd got it before coming back to Aerin. "Do you want to take your hair down? I think I know what I want to do with it," He asked with a wry grin, already picturing the end result.

Aerin hadn’t ever tried to dance, she wasn’t sure if she even trusted Jordie enough to guide her around the dance, but it wouldn’t hurt to try. After all, he was already doing her makeup and that required at least a little bit of trust. “Hmm.. If you think your toes can survive me stepping on them all night, sure.” She said, chuckling a little bit. Dancing with a cane could be difficult, but if they went very slowly Aerin was sure they could manage. “Sure.” She pulled out the hair tie and handed it back to Jordie.

Jordie laughed. "You'll be fine, just follow my lead," He reassured her. He took the hair tie from her and moved behind her, taking the brush and comb and a little bit of water in a spray bottle. There was a hint of conditioner in it, but not much. He hummed softly, working with her hair for a few minutes before stepping back. "There you are!" He beamed, moving to gather his things up and stash his bag. "You're all set. Readdy to go?" He asked, smiling brightly.

Aerin had the urge to touch her hair, but didn’t. It was far too early to ruin her hair, they hadn’t gone to the ball yet. “I’m ready.” She stood up with her cane and headed to the ball.
