Kara often found herself in the library whenever she had free time or wasn't sure what to do next. She had a couple of assignments left to work on. It was a rainy day outside so there were more students inside than usual, she didn't like how full the library seemed. Kara glanced around the library as she walked in search of an open place to do her home. Spotting an open table, she made her rush to it.

WHACK!

In her rush to get to the open table, Kara neglected to pay attention to her surroundings. She tripped over a stack of books on the floor that caused her to fall into a cart full of even more books. Books went up in the air along with the contents of Kara's blue messenger bag. Pushing herself up off the carpet, she rubbed her forehead and looked around to see the damage she caused. "Oh no," She said quietly. Books had flown all over the floor and onto other student's tables. It was safe to say the entire library was aware of the ruckus she caused. "I'm so sorry." Kara's faced turned a rosy shade of embarrassment and she scrambled to pick up her bag.

Emma preferred to stay out of the library as much as she could, but it was sometimes necessary for homework. Emma had just grabbed the book she would need for her essay and was walking towards a table when a loud noise made her jump. She turned her head to see one of her classmates lying on the floor, books and other things scattered around her. Emma couldn't help a small giggle from escaping, it was a comical sight. But then she saw the girl looked very embarrassed, and felt bad for laughing. She knew Kara was a roommate of her sister, but didn't know much else about her. Abandoning her own book on a nearby table, Emma made her way over. "I can help you!" She said, kneeling down to grab a few things. "Are these from your bag?" She asked, holding up a few rolls of parchment.

Kara was scrambling to stack the books she knocked over back how they were as she was approached by her red-headed classmate. She smiled at the Gryffindor’s offer to help and nodded as she pointed out the parchment papers. “Yes, those are my assignments.” Gratefully taking the rolls of parchment and putting them back in her bag, she couldn't imagine having to redo some of those. “Thank you.” Kara began picking up her pens that had hit the ground and scattered in every direction. She used them for organizing her schedule and notes, the color-coding made it easier. Crawling under a nearby table, she grabbed her purple and green pens. She used purple for birthdays and green was for weekly goals. After apologizing a few more times to the nearby students, she sat on the floor as she tried to put her pens back in her bag. “I tripped over a book into the stack there. I wasn’t paying attention much to where I was going.” Kara admitted to her fellow first year.

Emma was glad she had helped the girl, even if her tripping had been a little amusing too. "Were you busy reading?" She asked the girl, figuring she might have been because she was a Ravenclaw. "I guess books are more dangerous than I thought." She added with a joke. "Do you think Professors would accept that reason for not doing the reading?" She added with a giggle. She gasped as she saw the pens the girl had grabbed, picking up one as well. "Ohh! These are so pretty! You have so many colors!" She said, entranced by them. She sat on the floor as well, too busy looking at the colored pens to really help much anymore. But they were so cool! "Do you use these for art?" She asked, already imagining the cool things she could draw with these.

Kara smiled and shrugged. "I was going to work on some assignments, so a little reading." She knew it was all just technicalities. Giving a small giggle towards the girl's joke. "They can give you papercuts too if you aren't careful." Feeling a little lame for her follow up joke, she carefully put the pens away. "Thank you, I use them for organizing. Sometimes I use them to draw maps and scientific drawings. That could be considered art." She had quite a few maps of various parts of Hogwarts written down to help her find her classes. There were several pages of potion ingredient sketches. Kara gave the Gryffindor a smile before realizing how improper she had been. "I'm sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Kara." She extended her hand.

Emma giggled at the joke about paper cuts. "Exactly, that's why I tend to avoid them." She joked. Emma listened as Kara said what she used her pens for, visibly a little disappointed. "Oh. What do you need maps and science drawings for?" She asked, confused. "Don't you ever use them to just draw what you want? Like... a glittery fairy or a magical unicorn?" Emma privately thought it was a bit of a waste to use these pens for boring things. But she shook the girl's hand. "I know, I'm Emma and you're roommates with my sister Iris." She said with a grin, always glad to know more than someone else.
