Kara put a hand on her chin thinking about it. “Wands are made of different woods, cores, lengths, and flexibility. I suppose if you worked with a variety it would be interesting, especially if you grew or harvested everything yourself. That would make it more challenging, but perhaps more exciting.” Daniel didn’t seem like the type to work a desk job.

Daniel nodded."Harvesting everything could be interesting. There are so many jobs that are possible with magic!" His parents never would've told him about the careers possibilities in a magical world. They wanted him to work with his Dad, in an office building. He hated that idea. This was a great way out.

Kara thought for a moment where she might end up after Hogwarts. It was so far away, but she thought about it often. Adults often ask kids what they wanna do or who they wanna be when they grow up. She liked having a prepared answer. Growing up around magic and with magic, led her to really only consider magical careers and hadn't put much thought in muggle ones despite having numerous muggle relatives. "I'm glad we have a long time to decide."

Daniel nodded in agreement. He didn't really want to think about leaving Hogwarts, especially since he wasn't even at school yet."I'm looking forward to learning more about magic. It still seems so surreal." He knew that by the end of his schooling, he'd have a decent idea of what he'd like to do. Office building? No way, that was a definite no before he'd even thought about other options.

Kara smiled. "It seems surreal to me that I finally get to go there." She had heard stories and thought about Hogwarts for so long now, it felt more like a fairytale than her reality. Getting sorted, getting a wand, doing classes, graduating! There was so much ahead of the two of them and this was only the beginning. "You think we will stay friends all through our years at Hogwarts?" She spoke her thoughts allowed. The friendship they had, she didn't want to lose. They would make other friends and talk to other people, but she didn't want them to fall apart. Hopefully, they get sorted together.

Daniel shrugged."Surely! I think we'll be able to study together a lot, even if we're in different houses." He was glad that Kara was going to be in the same year as him, since it meant he had someone he could talk to. She understood how he felt about coming from a non-magical background, so she'd understand when he was struggling with learning magic."I'm sure we'll make other friends, though. I don't think we'll be alone."

Kara nodded, that kind of helped reassure her. "You are right. More friends would be nice. We will have more people to sit with at The Great Hall." She wondered if she would like sitting at a house table to eat all her meals. What about my friends in other houses? "I've heard the food is really good. Anything we could even imagine."

Daniel's eyes widened."Does everyone eat together? That's so cool! I really need to read more about the school." He laughed, since he'd been saying that for a while, but eating in a hall with all of the other students sounded super cool."I'm looking forward to the food. Food's great!"

"There are four long tables, divided by house. You sit with the other people in your house and there is practically every food you can imagine." Kara said. "I heard the ceiling reflects the sky outside and gives a pretty starry night." She couldn't wait to see the beauty in person. Kara could only imagine.

Daniel imagined what that would look like."That makes me wish I could draw. Sam draws a little. She'd love it." He wondered if she was magical. The thought had crossed his mind often. He was worried he'd be the only magical person in the family."Imagine the study sessions you could have in there. Like, if your whole class got together or something. They must be really big tables."

Kara laughed. "Could you imagine a study session with that many people?" She thought about it. "That would be fun, but also hard I imagine." Kara wondered if they ever would do a study session with a whole class, possibly review lessons. She couldn't wait for coursework.

Daniel laughed."I don't know how much work would actually get done. With that many people, I wouldn't be surprised if nothing got finished!" He liked the idea of class study sessions. It was a little foreign to him, since not many of the kids at his old school were interested in studying. Maybe Hogwarts would be different, and everyone would enjoy learning.
