The disappointment of the match against Hogwarts being cancelled was still fresh, and Elvira had no idea if they would be able to play against the other school this year. But the team would keep going, and she would make sure it would do good. It was scary, standing here without Brendan to lean on. He had been a natural leader, and Elvira really... wasn't. Her attempts at giving captain speeches last year had been pretty bad, and now she wasn't sure how she would handle being the older of the two captains. She was grateful with Jamie at least, she knew he would be someone at her side even if she messed up. She gave the younger boy a smile as they waited for the team to arrive, as well as students who were looking to try out. Elvira hoped a lot of people would sign up, it would be nice to have a full team with a lot of alternates. Once everyone seemed to be there, Elvira cleared her throat. "Hi! Welcome. You all want to be on the team, and we want people on the team. Sounds like a win win." She said, grinning. "Anyway, when you try out, please state your name and the position you want to try out for. If you have any questions, direct them to Jamie because I probably won't know." Somehow, while she was talking to crowds Elvira just couldn't stop making jokes, she gave the younger boy a quick smile to show she wasn't serious before going on. "Players who were already on the team as a permanent position won't need to try out again, but former alternates will. Who knows? You might get a better spot." She shrugged, glancing at Jamie again who seemed ready to start the tryouts with her. She looked around to see if anyone still looked confused, before starting the practice by pointing at the first person to try out. She really hoped things would go well for the team this year.

OOCOut of Character:

Anyone on the team line up last year (as posted above) can get their spot back by posting in this topic, but don't be discouraged if spots are full. Some people may not return, and we will definitely need plenty of alternates this year!! If you were on the team last year but no longer wish to be: please send a PM informing me so I can take you off the list, or simply don't post, and we will fill your spot.

If you try out keep a few things in mind:
- If you don't have your OOC name connected to your character, please add it to the post in an OOC note. We'd need to contact you on your main account for announcements and games, since the Beauxbatons side accounts (understandably) don't get checked as often.

- Please keep in mind that this team will only get to play one game, and it won't be for a while. Practices will be very important for the continued existence of the team, as well as building up the characters and activity of the team. Please be active in practices, even with the Quidditch system down. It will make playing on the team a lot more enjoyable, and it will help keep it going for the future years.

- Please make it clear which year your character is in, whether in your tryout post or in your member title. If your member title still reflects the previous year, we ask you to update it for clarity's sake. You may also want to register on the Other Students List as Other Students are not assigned yeargroups as HNZ students as, in order to keep up with where your character is at.

Emzies won't have time to reply for a bit so anyone is free to post trying out now!

Meadow missed the farm home, but her mother got a job offer they simply couldn't refuse. After her first year at Hogwarts her family had moved to France. So Beauxbatons was the more logical choice now. Meadow enrolled immediately and could start as a second year at the school. Beauxbatons was very different from Hogwarts, but it was fun. Her french was still the worst, but people were always happy to help. Meadow had always liked Quidditch and decided to try-out for the team. With a broom in her hand she walked to the pitch.

Meadow arrived at the pitch and waited for the captain to start the try-out. ''Meadow, trying out for Beater'' Meadow waited for the captain to write down her name and mounted her broom. As soon as she spotted a bludger she gave it a nice wack. The bludger went straight to the intended target and Meadow was happy with the success. Meadow flew around some more and stopped bludgers coming towards people that were trying out for chaser and seeker. Being a beater was not only smashing the other team, it was also about protecting the team you were in. Beaters can't score points so it is important to keep the people alive who can.

When Meadow thought she had done enough to show the captain that she was capable she rose down back to the solid ground. Meadow thanked the captain for the try-out and now it was time for the waiting game. She was curious to see if she had made it.

Jamie had been very surprised upon being asked to be the co-captain for the beauxbatons team, he'd been on the team for a little while and did thoroughly enjoy it, but being a co-captain was quite a tall order. He stood with Elvira as she gave her speech to the people trying out. He nodded along excited with a bright smile on his face. He obviously agree with everything that she was saying and would of course answer any questions that the students might have. When she finished up she glanced at him and he didn't have much to add, "Have fun guys!" he said as a final statement, there wasn't much else to add, and he knew that the people just wanted to get started so he let that happen. He was confident and hopeful that they would have some good try-outs.

Cheryl was happy to be back and ready to practice. She was curious who would join the time after a few had left. They now missed an amazing keeper and perhaps that was not easy to replace, but Cheryl was sure that they would manage. The blonde joined the team and smiled at her captain. '' Hi everyone!'' the girl said with a bright smile and listened at the speech. The blonde than smiled at Jamie for him making it to the position as he was. Cheryl was sure that they would do well, and waited for the try out to begin.

Theodore was pretty bummed by the fact they hadn't gotten to have a match against HNZ, despite all of the hard work they put into practicing for it. He hoped this year would be a lot better, overall, and that in any case all of the work put in now would pay off when he graduated and could maybe play with the pros. He was doing a pretty good job for an alternate, and surprised even himself by how far he had come since joining the team. Whether Elvira would admit she'd taught him anything or not, Theo felt like he'd learned a lot from the captain by playing alongside her.

Joining the others on the pitch, Theo greeted his teammates with a broad beam, hoping that he could consider them teammates for yet another year. He felt like he was a real member of the team by now, despite not being a part of the core roster, and it sucked that he'd have to try out again and again. It was Elvira's last year as a student of the school, and he wanted to be able to fill the void she'd leave behind and make the team proud by being the best seeker he could be in her place, if he could secure the spot again. It was a little daunting, and he couldn't shake the feeling that someone else, someone better, might come along and replace him. There were a couple of other availabilities, slots for the core team following the departure of Brendan and Celine, and while they were more secure positions, he had his heart set on being an alternate seeker.

Giving the captains a thumbs up, the youth took to the sky as soon as he was able to, and immediately began to scour the pitch for the snitch. Unsurprisingly, it was as elusive as always, and he had bludgers to also contend with in the meanwhile, which shifted part of his attention from his goal. Thankfully, a new girl trying out for beater happened by, and was able to deflect a few of the iron balls that were headed his way. Knowing he was at least somewhat safer, the boy focused solely on that familiar glint of gold. Soon enough, the small orb flitted by, and he urged his old broom to chase after it. A not-very-exciting chase later, and the snitch was in his outstretched hand. Theodore waved it around, trying to signal to Elvira and Jamie that he'd caught it, before releasing it once more to flutter away.

Even though they'd lost a few of their long standing members, Fletcher was hopeful that this time round Beauxbatons would be able to win against the other school. Her time in France was flying past and she didn't want to leave without at least taking them down one more time. She joined her team out on the pitch cheerfully, each year growing in confidence about her own abilities. It was always a learning curve to break in the new students that joined them, but she had faith that the team would be welcoming. Her own shyness meant all she could muster was a small smile, before jumping on her broom and taking to the skies to practise hitting the bludger, preferably not at her own teammates this time round.

Nadine had been an alternate on the Beauxbatons team last year, and she was very excited to continue in that position. She knew there was a chaser spot empty now that Brendan had graduated, but honestly wouldn't be surprised if it would be filled by another students. She really wanted to play, but she did know she had a lot to learn. The girl had often grown frustrated last year when she hadn't done well in practices, and vowed to try harder this year.

Tryouts were always exciting but also fairly scary. She waited until it was her turn, then smiled brightly. "Nadine here! Trying out for chaser!" She was a little sad Brendan wasn't here, as he had really been someone Nadine looked up to last year. He was a very talented chaser, but so were the other two. She gave Jamie a smile before taking to the sky. She quickly got her hands on the quaffle and made her way to the hoops. Nadine forced herself to stop for a moment to focus, not wanting to rush in and make mistakes as she usually did. She threw the quaffle as hard as she could and beamed as it soared through the hoop. She grabbed the ball again and flew to the other side of the pitch to try it again. This time, she wanted to score immediately. She quickly realized that was a mistake, as this time she missed. She allowed someone else to take the quaffle, and moped for a little while about her mistake. But she soon managed to try again. In the end, she scored three times out of four attempts, which she was a little unhappy with. There was always room for improvement, though, and she would have to do her best for that.

OOC: Last call for people who want to try out! Do it now before it's too late!

Quentin hadn't been expecting to come to Beauxbatons. For years he was told that he'd be following his cousins to Hogwarts New Zealand, where he'd be sorted into his house, and where he imagined he would be spending seven years of his education. Even Agnes got to go to Hogwarts and she didn't even want to be there. It wasn't fair that his mom had moved him away from everyone else he knew, just because she didn't want to live in America anymore. He knew his parents divorce had been difficult, but when his Aunt and Uncle went through the same thing, it didn't mean that Maggie had to move.

One thing he'd been particularly looking forward to when joining the school though, was Quidditch. If Isaac could play without a single athletic bone in his body, Quentin had no doubt that he could too. Magic was fascinating and being on a broom was even more scary and fun at the same time. Even though he was a first year, the boy still headed down to the pitch during try outs, just in case there was any room left for him. He probably wouldn't be the best of course, and sometimes when the ball came at him it was more terrifying than thrilling, but he wanted to try. Stood there in his robes that were slightly too long, and broom that was taller than he, he stepped up when he finally got the chance. "Quentin. Burdock. Trying out for the goal keeper." He wasn't sure if he got that right but he hoped they knew what he meant. Flying in the skies, he wobbled a little as he got his balance, the wind whipping past him faster than he thought it would have. Even if he didn't go to Hogwarts as a student, perhaps he would be able to beat them at a game one day. Doing his best to defend the hoops, he only winced away from the Quaffle twice, before he caught the third and fourth attempted shot on the goal. He hoped that no one saw that he nearly slipped off the broom completely during his last catch, and by the time he made it back to the floor he was secretly pleased to have just made it down in one piece. "Thanks," he said nervously towards the Captains, wondering if it would always be that difficult.
