Iason Samartzi Slytherin First Year Lesson 1 & 2
- Lesson One
-
Iason could barely sleep the previous night as he was excited for his first class of the semester in the morning. He had been waiting a long time to attend Hogwarts and even more so, attend the classes. It was for this excitment he wondered why he hadn't been placed in Ravenclaw but there was no reason why Slytherins couldn't be seen as smart. Salazar Slytherin was one of the greatest wizards of his time, granted he maybe had a dark side to him, but he was also smart and Iason kept that in mind. Raising good and early that day Iason was ready before the people in his dorm-room so quietly getting dressed he grabbed his bag and made his way down for breakfast. There was already a few early risers in the Hall with him too but it didn't take long for the Hall to fill up and the an excited buzz among the students for few week excitement, it was easy to tell the older students from the first years at this point as the older students didn't seem as excited, probably because they knew it meant harder work for them than what Iason expected first year work to be like after reading the books.
Once the Great Hall started to empty Iason figured it would be a good time to start heading to class, even if he had to be a bit early he really didn't mind. Thankfully Iason had gotten to know where the majority of the classrooms were in the castle as he made it his mission to get to know the castle, being in the dungeons he didn't get to see much of it unless he went of his way to do so. Entering class he took the closest seat in the front row, which wasn't very full at the moment despite a few people already being in the classroom. Iason took out his writing equipment and waited for the Professor to start the class. Iason listened to Professor Riverwood talkabout what they would be learning in this class and when she asked a question he raised his hand but like the previous classes he wasn't called upon to answer the question, even though he had a better answer than what Casey gave - at least it was correct. He figured that there would be no need for his writing equipment in this class so he set his quill down and folded his arms on the desk and listened to Professor Riverwood continue with the class. He was interested up until he heard cookies and cakes mentioned, not that he didn't like them (what self respecting eleven year old didn't?) but he was surprised to hear about something not exactly related to the subject and thought it was slightly unprofessional. Taking the small piece of parchement that the Professor was handing out Iason quickly joted down a few things and packed up his belongings, leaving the classroom on the long walk back down to the common room.- Homework

- Lesson Two
-
The first week of classes were over and already Iason could see himself looking forward to the next seven years in this school. The first week had all been introductory classes for the Professors to get to know the students and for the students to get to know a little bit about the subject. Iason was disappointed that there was no theory in the first class but not every class could be like that and he could already feel the semester going by quickly so he figured that there would be plenty of learning to be done and homework as well, he was really excited about the homework. He knew that he was going to classes as weird if his peers found this out but surely he wasn't the only one excited about classes and homework and learning and all that stuff, it would definitely all payout come time for Graduation, which was even too far ahead for Iason to think about but he often found himself thinking about it and what type of person he would be come then.
Not rising as early this week with the first week excitement subsided into a content amusement. Feeling more comfortable about classes and being around his peers more often, he made his way to breakfast with his room-mates in an attempt to get to know them better and head of to class with them afterwards. Taking his seat in the front row again he got his writing equipment out, hoping to use it this class unlike last class. He understood why it was important to have introductory lessons for classes but he really would prefer to be writing and doing essays and whatnot. As Professor Riverwood started the class Iason figured that he would be writing notes today so he dipped his quill into his ink and got ready to take down some notes on the Solar System. He really wasn't having any luck with being called on in classes to answer questions that he knew the answers to. Shrugging it off he continued with writing his notes. It wasn't long until class was over and wrote down the homework and packed away his things. On the way out of the class he was surprised that Professor Riverwood was handing out bas of cookies but took one nonetheless and thanked the Professor before continuing down to the common room.- Notes

- Despite it's controversy the wizarding community deem Pluto as a planet;
- Muggles believed we were the center of the Solar System for a long time, although the wizarding community knew different;
- A wizarding family leaked information that informed the muggles that we aren't the center of the Solar System.

Iason Samartzi Slytherin First Year Astronomy Lesson 2
Jupiter
The fifth planet from the Sun, gas giant and the largest planet in our Solar System is Jupiter. This planet is mainly composed of hydrogen and helium, and contains a core of heavier elements, earning it it's position as a Gas Giant. When Jupiter is viewed from Earth, it can appear as the third-brightest object in the night sky, just after Venus and Earth's Moon.
Jupiter is famous for having a large red blemish on it's outer layer that is known as the Great Red Spot which is basically a giant storm that has existed since the 17th century, first viewed by a telescope. This planet also has 63 moons, and counting, that are known as the Galilean moons as they were first discovered by famous astronomer Galileo Galilei in the year 1610.
On several occasions has Jupiter been explored by robotic spacecrafts. The Pioneer, the Voyager and the Galileo orbiter were the most noted flyby missions made by muggles. The most recent was in the a probe that was originally sent to Pluto called New Horizons, this was in February 2007. Many astronomers intend on sending future orbs to Europa, one of Jupiter's many moons.

- Lesson 3
-
Nico was feeling rather under the weather today having common down with a magical cold of some sort, one that caused a wide range of hallucinations. His had a slight fever but he was on medicine for the next couple of days to counteract the effect of the illiness. The Nurse had seen the case before and it was curable if not persistent and stubborn, she assured him that it would pass in a few days and he would be back to full health again but he was asked to take it slow and easy. Stress could make the hallucinations worse or flare up. Thankfully he was not contagious or else the entire slytherin house would be infected with hsi odd virus. However being up this late was not going to help him get better and so he was more annoyed then ever that he had to climb the ridiculous number of stairs all the way up to his single most hated class of the term. The professor was in high spirits like always which only furthered his annoyance as the lesson began in typical fashion. The professor decided that this class the moon would be the focus of the class as she began explaining the phases of the moon in detail but not before telling a few good stories about the myths surrounding the famed satellite. He of course had heard the legend of the the wizard and the cheese before as it taught a cautionary ale about trying to achieve magic beyond ones ability and the dangers that it could cause if done without care. The wizard in the legend was a fool to attempt such a spell and even greater fool for attempting to land in a pile of cheese. The story was hogwash and hardly a credible tool for education but then again he was not the one teaching the class nor the one overseeing the professor so he endured the tale as he was expected to with a slight grimace on his face. Nico took notes on the phase of the moon as he was sure that the information would be on a test of some sort. - Notes
-
New Moon - Completely Devoid of light Waxing Crescent- Less then half light First Quarter- half light Waxing Gibbous- more then have light Full moon- Completely light it up Waning Gibbous- less than half dark Last Quarter- Half Dark Waning Crescent- more than half dark
After all his notes were done the professor assigned homework before dismissing the class which could not come soon enough. He was exhausted and tired and was in desperate need of sleep. Thankfully the professors lesson did wear his mind out enough that maybe just maybe he would not be plagued by dreams of men and cheese. His strong mind was beyond such childish things and yet he was curious about the forbidden magic used to travel to the moon. Maybe there was something to children's tales after all. He made a mental note to look into such magic when he was feeling more up to the task but for now he made his way back to the common room and hopefully into a good nights sleep.
- Lesson 4
-
Nico was feeling much better since last class having been restored to full health after his rather unfortunate illness. Of course him begin in full health seemed to be brought down some by his impending Astronomy class. How he loathed the class with such passion that he could write books about it that could fill an entire library. The professor seemed like a decent person but she simply was not his cup of tea not to mention Astronomy was a rather dreary subject for someone who wanted to learn more about magic not the stars. the only application that astronomy had to offer was a crash course of sorts into astrology but even then it was not all that helpful as star charts and what have you could be easily created or purchased hat relayed all the information to witch or wizard. All in all the combination of professor and subject meant that he was in a constant state of annoyance all the time when the lesson was approaching.
Arriving to class on time he made his way to his normal seat where he noticed, like a few others, the telescopes stacked up nearby. His eyes narrowed into slits as he realized all to late that they would be spending the class staring at the sky. Some were excited while others shared in his annoyance at the idea of spending any amount of time on top of the north tower at this hour of the night. After the announcement they were lead out of the class room and outside in which they made their way to the top of the tower. The professor informed them that charms and spells were in place to prevent students from falling which seemed to be the highlight of the lesson as mention of more magic he had not heard of caused him to make more mental notes. The spell list he was compiling in his mind was outrageous yet ambitious which he felt was required as future headmaster of the school. Of course some of his peers and their fears got the best of them as they began to show signs of fear which caused him to role his eyes hard into the back of his head. How childish it was to be afraid of heights after a licensed professor just informed you that there was nothing to fear. Pathetic.
Once on the roof the professor informed them of the lesson and asked they each locate the north start and then something "cute" or "nice" in the night sky. He stifled a laugh at the word choice but did as he was asked when the telescope was handed to him as he wrote down the location and description of the north star as well as locating Orion and his legendary belt. After which the class was over and he gathered his things before making his way back down tot he common room. It was somewhat nice to see the sky without the interference of the city lights. He did not get that opportunity often and so maybe just maybe he would need to once more explore the north tower at night, after all it seemed rather peaceful and devoid of all distractions. He may not learn much in the class but he was beginning to learn other useful things which made the class somewhat tolerable. But the end of the term was approaching and soon he would be free from the class for awhile he hoped.

Lesson 3
Stepping into the Astronomy classroom, Preston was interested to find out what they would be learning today. He wasn’t in love with Astronomy, but he found it more interesting than some of his other subjects because of Professor Riverwood. As she began to speak, the teen looked at the machine that she was discussing. It didn’t look particularly impressive, but if it could make a black hole, it surely was impressive. The teen’s eyebrows rose as he heard the professor say that she was going to create a black hole in the classroom. That didn’t sound particularly safe, and he was pretty glad that he wasn’t sitting anywhere near the machine. - Quote:
-
-Black holes are dead stars -It sucks everything into it As the professor indicated that she was going to do the demonstration now, Preston gave her his undivided attention. He watched as she made a paper clip disappear into the black hole. It was a pretty cool demonstration. As the professor dismissed them, Preston quickly packed his bags and made his way slowly near the machine to get a better look at it.

Iason Samartzi Slytherin First Year Lesson 5 & 6
- Lesson 5
-
Iason felt refreshed after the Brightstone weekend. He only went down for a few hours at time, not needing to stay much longer than needed but it was exactly what he needed. While he loved classes and homework and everything he enjoyed the break away from the castle. Even at home he wasn’t stuck inside 24/7 and was able to go into town or go to work with his father so he got away from the house whenever he wanted really. Although now he had his break over him he was ready to get back into classes and learning, he couldn’t believe he was already over half way through his first semester of his first year, time was really flying by, before he knew it, it was going to be Christmas time and then home for the holidays for a short while. For now he was focusing on classes and would think more on the matter of how fast the first half of his first year was going at a later time. Like last week Iason couldn’t wait to this week as it was the first Quidditch games of the season, he hadn’t seen a Quidditch game since the last year as his father was too busy to take him to any of the last season games but Iason didn’t mind too much.
Entering the classroom Iason took his usual seat at the front of the classroom and left his writing equipment in front of him, waiting for Professor Riverwood to start the class. Iason noticed the telescopes on the desks but didn't take much notice and didn't think on why they were there. When Professor Riverwood began her class he was surprised that they would be doing something pratical, most classes this week seemed to be practical classes. Putting away his writing equipment he found someone to partner up with, grabbing a telescope he followed the Professor to where they would be stargazing from.
Gathered around the rest of the students, Iason listened to Professor Riverwood give out the instructions for the class. Allowing his partner to go first, Iason spent the first half of the class writing down a few of the points Professor Riverwood mentioned before everyone started their stargazing. That didn't take too long so he spent the rest of the time looking up at the night sky, the sky was so clear and full of stars. Back home he was never lucky to get to see a night sky quite like this as the lights from the surrounding towns and villages blocked it from him, even though he lived far up the lights carried.
When it was Iason's turn to use the telescope he got right to work by marking down the North Star on his star map, it was partiularily easy as it was the brightest star in the sky. Once he had done that he spent the rest of the class trying to remember a few of the constellations that he had read about and with the help of his textbook finding them in the nightsky and marking them down. Instead of using the book to tell him the exact location of the constellation he challenged himself by looking for them with just the shape of the constellation. After getting a few of them marked down on his star map class was over, packing up his things he left with the rest of the students, starting on the long trip down to the Slytherin Common Room.
- Lesson 6
-
Iason couldn't quite get over the fact that this was the last week of classes before exams and then the end of his first semester here at Hogwarts New Zealand. True he still had the Yule Ball to look forward to, even though he didn't have a date, before exams and leaving for home in a few weeks. For now he knew he had to just focus on the last week of classes, although from what he had gathered from older students it was merely a revision lesson, something Iason took very seriously and was glad for at least an hour or quietness to revise. Entering the Astronomy classroom Iason took his seat and placed his writing equipment out on his desk. With the intructions from the Professor, Iason started to look over his previous notes and read over them and then rewrite them and continue that process until class was over.

Name: Rhiannon McGowan House: Hufflepuff Year: Second year Lesson Missed: five
Rhiannon was tired. she had been up late the previous night trying to finish an essay and up early to make a start on another assignment. she was practically crawling up to the astronomy classroom. she took her seat for once wiching that the class was earlyer in the day before taking out her ben and note pad she listened as the professor started her lecture on the different kinds of stars taking notes. thankfully the cup of mocha she had drunk before class only half disliking the taste was starting to kick in and she was slowly feeling more awake. they were looking at all of the different stars this week she looked up at each of them as they were mentioned they were so pretty. she manafged some how to keep up with the class until eventually with a super masive blask hole the class was over. she packed up her things and made her way ot the fron of the class the lighing she was sure the bags and dark rings forming under her eyes were even more noticeable than thet actually were. "thank you for class today Professor" she said starting to feel the effect of the coffee wearing off. she now just wanted to go to bed. she left the room and made her way to the fourth floor and straight to the dorm and crashing on the bed without even brushing her teeth for a much needed sleep.
notes astronomy Class 5, kinds of stars
binary star. most stars are not single stars like the sun even that is what they look like. when inspected closer they actually are two stars very close together. most stars are like this. if jupiter was a bit bigger it would have exploded into a star companion for the sun.
protostar. a protostar is a young stat in it's earliest observable stage of formation. It is forming from interstellar gas, and isn't hot enough for nuclear reactions to start in its core.
dwarf stars Our Sun is a dwarf star. during their lives they pass phases of expansion and contraction. When they are a normal size for their weight they are called 'dwarfs'. there are three three kinds of dwarfs -Brown dwarfs. stars that never heated up enough to explode, and this never formed proper stars. -White dwarfs stars close to death who are burning with their last reserves of fuel, though they are called white stars they are actually anything from white to red. -Black dwarfs all dwarf stars will become black dwarfs, stars which are non luminous and dead.
supergiants the light from supergiants produce more than 1000 times the wattage as the sun and are up to 200 times larger. they can be many colours it depends on the temperature of the star supergiants are the largest stars, the biggest of them was 10,000,000 times brighter than the sun. if the sun was a super giant it wold entirely engulf the earth and keep going.
supernova. when old large stars run out of fuel they collapse in a huge explosion. this releases so much light it it can outshine an entire galaxy. this means that a supernova will be exploding with the force of 1,000,000,000,000,000 atom bombs.
neutron stars. After becoming a supernova stars twice the size of the sun become neutron stars they have collapsed so much all of their atoms have broken up and become a mix of protons and electrons squished together until they are all neutrons. they are very distance and only a teaspoon of the content of this star will weigh the same as a mountain. they spin at really high speeds.
Pulsar Stars these are special kinds of neutron stars, they emit radio waves in regular bursts like a light house in beams that sweep the universe. as they spin
quasar the furthest things away in the universe. they are the heart of active galaxies billions of lightyears away. their power comes from a super massive black hole in the centre. the glow is due to the friction between the matter entering it. black holes will be covered more next year.

Name: Clara Zhefarovich House: Hufflepuff Year: First Lesson Missed: One
Clara had had one hell of a week. She hated the two half-brother Professors. They hadn't even done anything to her, but they scared her senseless. It made her work harder and do a bit more reading than she had meant to, but she wanted to impress them - well, rather not get eaten by them. Clara had terrible nightmares the night before that her Astronomy Professor was the half-sister, and her eyes were darker and colder than the two men. Her teeth were like fangs, ready to help her brothers in whatever punishment lay in store for Clara. The lady would read the stars and tell Clara that her death will be soon, and long. Then their eyes would just stare at her, and though she had never heard any of them laugh - they were all laughing at her. The young blonde woke up frightened, and didn't want to get out of bed. It was still dark outside, so she had awhile to calm herself down, and convince herself that the Astronomy Professor wasn't related to the men. Still, she couldn't contain the butterflies in her stomach as she approached the classroom. Clara was sure she was getting weird looks, whether it in her head or not, but she knew she could blame her short-breathness on the climb up the towers. Clara tried to calm her breathing down as the door opened and she walked in slowly, behind the rest of the students. She kept her head down, not wanting to look at the Professor, but couldn't resist it once she took a seat. An involuntary sigh of relief came out of her mouth, the lady looked nice! She was even smiling! She was very similar to their Headmistress, always smiling. Astronomy wasn't something that Clara paid too much attention too, and she was sure she would be rubbish at it. She wrote down some notes as the Professor spoke and the other Hufflepuff answered. Clara looked up in astonishment. Cookies and cake?! That seemed way to good to be true. By the time the lesson had finished, Clara was feeling much better. The Professor seemed really nice, and managed to make Clara feel better without even trying. She took the sheet, and got it done quickly, and nicely, for the nice Professor.

Lesson 1
Paige was overly proud of the emerald embroidery on her Slytherin robes, she loved them and she was overly excited to be placed in Slytherin. This was already her third year and although Paige loved classes, she had never liked Astronomy. Astronomy was something else and Paige could not just pinpoint what she did not like about the subject. Her best guess was that it was too Muggle Related and not a real challenge for her. Paige had her bag over her shoulder and ran to the Astronomy tower, walking past a couple of Ravenclaws. When Paige entered the Classroom she was a bit late and found her Professor sipping on a cup of Peach tea. She could smell the tea and that made her thinking that it was either peach or some other type of fruit. Paige sat behind her desk and jolted everything down what the Professor said about Galaxies. The information was pretty interesting and Paige could wrap her head around it. The Professor was certainly new, but very equipped to take on this subject. He looked mysterious enough to be interesting to teach a class filled with students. When the Professor announced that there was no homework a smile appeared on her face. She disliked Professors that gave homework on their first lesson. Paige nodded to the Professor when the lesson ended and left with her bag over her shoulder. ''Bye Professor. '' She mumbled silently, she was starting to like this one.
Lesson 2
The Slytherin common room was as busy as always, people were screaming through each other about someone that stole their shirts or some new popular item. Paige left the mess and went to walk so many stairs up to the Astronomy classroom. For once she wasn't that late, well she was always on time, but barely. Paige entered the classroom and found the Professor sipping some kind of tea yet again. Maybe she should buy some tea for him to get a higher grade, not that Paige would do such thing, but it was tempting her slightly. Paige sat on her seat and waited for the Professor to start his lesson. The lesson was about the Milky Way, somehow an image of a candy bar shot into her mind. She had tasted them once when her dad went to the Ministry of Magic in Amsterdam. Paige her quill ran over the paper, if it had to win a race it definitely came first. The fact that the galaxy he had conjured up was interactive was amazing and when the Professor said they could start to touch it Paige stood up and started to interact and touch various stars. Some of the Information was more complex than others, but Paige could not care she actually enjoyed this interactive bit in class. The Professor was sipping his tea yet again and when the end of the lesson grew near, she nodded to him politely and left the classroom.
- Notes
-
Milky Way - Not to be mistaken with the Candy Bar - Important for the exams. - Milky way is a cluster of stars (Countless Stars) - One hundred thousand light years across and one thousand light years thick. - Milky way is held together by the power of a super-massive black hole. - The stars at the centre of the galaxy are often incredibly old. - Black hole is often shrouded in dust.

Lesson Three Princess woke up and noticed the time, she was late again, for the third time this week. She prepared herself as fast as she could and dashed to the classroom. When she got there she sat on her seat and listened to the professor. She took notes and write her assignment. When the class was dismissed she headed back to the common room and did her assignment.

- First Quarter- the Moon appears to be half lit by direct sunlight.
- Waxing Gibbous- the moon appears half lit under direct sunlight.
- Waning Gibbous- the moon appears to be more half lit but not quite entirely.
- Full Moon- the moon appears to be entirely lit up when facing the earth under direct sunlight.

Nebula
The Horsehead Nebula also known as Barnard is a dark nebula in the constellation Orion. The nebula is located just to the south of the star Alnitak, which is farthest east on Orion's Belt, and is part of the much larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex. The nebula was first recorded in 1888 by Scottish astronomer Williamina Fleming on photographic plate B2312 taken at the Harvard College Observatory. The Horsehead Nebula is approximately 1500 light years from Earth. It is one of the most identifiable nebulae because of the shape of its swirling cloud of dark dust and gases, which bears some resemblance to a horse's head when viewed from Earth.
The dark cloud of dust and gas is a region in the Orion Molecular Cloud Complex where star formation is taking place. This stellar nursery, as it is known, can contain over 100 known organic and inorganic gases as well as dust consisting of large and complex organic molecules.
The red or pinkish glow originates from hydrogen gas predominantly behind the nebula, ionized by the nearby bright star Sigma Orionis. Magnetic fields channel the gases leaving the nebula into streams, shown as streaks in the background glow. A glowing strip of hydrogen gas marks the edge of the massive cloud and the densities of stars are noticeably different on either side.
The heavy concentrations of dust in the Horsehead Nebula region and neighbouring Orion Nebula are localized, resulting in alternating sections of nearly complete opacity and transparency. The darkness of the Horsehead is caused mostly by thick dust blocking the light of stars behind it. The lower part of the Horsehead's neck casts a shadow to the left. The visible dark nebula emerging from the gaseous complex is an active site of the formation of "low-mass" stars. Bright spots in the Horsehead Nebula's base are young stars just in the process of forming. [/color]

Name: Scarlett Vittori House: Hufflepuff Year: Second Lesson/s Missed: Two and Three
It had been almost two months already since the death of Brody but Scarlet still found the whole thing hard to accept. Nobody could blame her though, not even her brothers. They knew that she was the one closest to Bud and his unexpected tragedy had taken a lot of toll on the Hufflepuff. But she was glad that a certain Ravenclaw had never left her side. She knew not how she would be turning out or how she would get through this if it were not for Jakobe. He was the one who comforted her the day she received the letter. He was the one who always stayed by her, refusing to leave her side every single time they would see each other and he was the one who always tried to make her smile. And because of this, she had been finding things easier to accept in comparison to when she first found out. However, these were not supposed to be her thoughts in class so she had gotten rid of them when she realized she was trailing off.
And so, she had gathered her thoughts and basically forced herself to focus on Professor Raven and his lesson instead of Brody and Jakobe and his eyes and his smile and his-. She really had to work on her attention span. She would've bonked her head if it would not catch attention so she decided to just basically pull out some parchment, her quill and ink and scribble every single word and concept that she understood and the ones that she didn't on the other side. Well, this was probably the best way for her to cope after all. She really would have to look those words up in the library sooner or later though. Well, at least she learned quite the lot from the model and she had understood quite a few but the need for library references did not escape her. When the lesson was over and they were dismissed, she was glad to see Jakobe waiting for her and she asked him to join her in the library.
Scarlet couldn't have been anymore thankful for the presence of her friend, Jakobe Hitachiin. Really, she knew not how she would have survived the past few weeks without him. If it were not for him, she would have probably be still in her dormitory really. But because of him, she had managed to keep on attending lessons. The only problem she has though is she keeps staying in her mind. Honestly, she was surprised that she hadn't choked or something whenever she was thinking about him because it was too frequent. It was even bothering her! The subject was Astronomy and not Jakobe and she had to mentally slap herself half the time. She merely shook her head this for she knew for herself that she really had to grip of herself otherwise she just might fail at every single thing, and that would certainly not be a good thing, especially if Justin ever found out. Which would not be impossible considering that he was already working in the school. Realizing that her thoughts were trailing off once more, she resumed to listen to the professor.
Scarlet hoped though that this professor would use some lighter words in the discussion. After all, Scar was not born with the English language and was quite unfamiliar with some words still. Especially some that may have related to Science. She never did know much about Astronomy after all and right now it was proving to be particularly hard. Especially the words like nebula, sling-shot, nuclear, binary, and plasma. Those words were clearly beyond her knowledge. And so, she would barely understand things each time. She really needed to have an English-French dictionary sometimes if she wanted to learn properly. For now though, she just hoped that Jakobe would be up to teaching her some stuff. After all, she understood sixty percent of the lesson. Twenty percent of what she didn't understand was because she didn't know and the other twenty percent was his fault. Not that she would ever tell him that of course. She just hoped she would do well with studying this year.

Name: Alexia Nightray House: Slytherin Year: First Lesson Missed: One to Three
Alexia was not at all happy with the way things are going in her life in Hogwarts. First, she had gotten separated from her brother who was sorted in Hufflepuff. Second, she was sorted into Slytherin which was apparently crawling with mudbloods and half-breeds and she would make sure that her father hears of this. And lastly, why did their Head of House have to be an old croon that also happens to be an old hag. She didn't even know where peace was anymore and she had to wonder how her cousins were able to withstand the filth surrounding the school. After all, they were all over the place and Alex had to strain herself to concentrate on the lesson rather than the insolence all around her, which by so far was really, really annoying.
Well, for today, she had to focus herself on the first week of classes and by far she was not at all happy with any. History was something she had gotten used to at home. Well, DADA pricked her interest but the professor just had to ruin every bit of interest she had. And now was Astronomy. Pretty lame subject if you ask her and she had found no use for it except as something that would have her grades higher. That is the only benefit Astronomy had on her. In fact she couldn't care less anything about the subject as she would rather spend the day in the library with her brother to read it rather than listening to this man speak. Yet, she tried to remain patient. She would not let her grandparents hear any bad news about her. She would be patient and try her best like her father always told her to do. So, she left as soon as they were dismissed.

Name: Alexia Sunset Nightray House: Slytherin Age: 11 Are you looking forward to Astronomy? Why/Why not? No. It's useless. Have you any experience in the subject? Yes Fun fact about you: I don't like you or your subject.
Almost a month will pass and Alexia was still completely unsatisfied with how her life in Hogwarts New Zealand was going. Seriously, it was the most irritating thing ever! Her life was a routine and she was used to that but the fact that mudbloods and half-breeds were so close by; that irked her to no end. She spent most of her time with Alexander though the latter probably had less time than she had since he had joined the Hufflepuff Quidditch Team under their father's orders. So far, she had not gotten any orders except to actually not disappoint him with her academics. Of course she won't do such a thing for she had no death wish written on her forehead. With that thought in mind, Alexia resumed to focus more on the lesson at hand. Well. At least she was trying to focus on it.
The class was not by any means hard. She just didn't like it. And she didn't like the professor. Plain and simple. The reason? She just didn't like them. After all, dislike was a fairly common emotion for the young girl though she does try her best to get past that dislike and actually pay attention to what is being thought. But try as she may, it is really to no avail. So, she had given up on actually trying and just let herself read the Astronomy book the may as well be more useful than the man standing in front of her. Besides, the book was quieter and she preferred silence. If only she wouldn't actually get a low grade for leaving early, she would have done so quite early on, but sadly it was not to be really. With much distaste, she stayed in the classroom and she only left when allowed to.
The semester was nearly halfway over and for this Alexia couldn't have been anymore glad. She had not particularly been looking forward to studying in Hogwarts New Zealand after all and only went there to prove her worth to the Nightray family. She wanted her ring and she was not happy that Liam and Riv had gotten theirs before they even entered school! And so, she was going to make sure that she would get hers this year and before she turned second year. And for that to happen, she needed to show her grandparents that she was at least the best in something compared to her cousins. Academics. That was the way to do it. She had been raised the most proper of all the females and now she was going to beat them all at studies. Though first, she really had to focus on lessons if she wanted to do well.
Even if it was against her wishes, one of the lessons she actually had to endure was Astronomy and as much as she would like to leave early that was not to be. This was already her third lesson and still her point of view on the subject was not the least bit changing and she had to admit that it was not a pleasant feeling. Like the previous week, she had resigned herself to blocking out the professor's voice and instead reading her Astronomy book about the lesson he was giving. Besides, there couldn't have been much difference between the two right? Well, she was pretty sure since the book had quite a number of information about the moon and its phases so she didn't have much a problem with it. So, she had decided that this would be her routine: read a book while the professor lectures.

Lesson 1
Jean stepped into the astronomy classroom, the words from his mother about doing better still fresh in his mind. He knew that this was one of the classes that would make that difficult. As he listened to the professor speak about what they'd be learning over the course of the next few weeks, Jean hoped that it would be interesting. Only time would tell, of course. When the professor dismissed them, Jean was one of the first ones up and out of the classroom.
