As the students entered the room, it was back to normal after the previous lesson. The desks were there, but this time, there were cages on each of them. A few of the students gave Professor London a strange look, but sat down anyways. They knew she would fill them in when the time was right. She soon rose from her desk, and walked in front of them to begin class. "Welcome, welcome. I am glad we all had a bit of fun last week with your eyebrows. This week we will be working with a verbal conjuring spell again. You each have a cage because we will be conjuring up a flock of birds." A few faces around the room showed that she was making total sense. She smiled and continued, "Now I really didn't think we wanted dozens of birds flying around the room, so I have provided you each with a cage to contain your birds in." Moving back to the board in the room, she tapped it and the word "avis" appeared on the board. "This is the spell for conjuring birds. It is pronounced just like it looks. Avis. I will give you a quick demonstration of the spell." She quickly crossed to her desk. Tapping the cage three times, she spoke the word and a flock of birds appeared inside. The birds were small, yellow canaries and quickly started to make a lot of noise. "As you can see, this will become a very loud lesson." She picked up the cage and moved to the window, quickly opening it and then the cage. She allowed the birds to fly free before shutting the window again. Turning back, she spoke as she replaced the cage. "Now it is again important to concentrate on exactly what kind of bird you wish to conjure. Please pay attention to detail. We don't want to have a bird that barks or anything like that." She smiled before continuing. "If you need any inspiration, I have a few books on birds over on the shelf that you may feel free to use. Once you have your birds in the cage, I will grade you and then you may feel free to release them into the wild. Feel free to practice as many times as you wish. I will be walking around to help you as you need." She smiled, then with a nod of her head, dismissed them to work. Homework: RP the lesson. Pictures of your conjured birds may be included if you wish. Have fun! |

The fifth week of lessons came just too soon for the Hufflepuff Prefect, Proserpina Laurent. The young blonde hurried down to the greenhouse that she was due to attend to. This week, they were going to be doing something interesting in Herbology, and she was still shocked about her knowledge in the magical herbs and plants. Since she was going to be a healer, she needed to know as much as possible. She really wanted to become a nurse and be able to help someone, but she did not know what field that she wanted to be in just yet, and she was really looking forward to doing something good for the society. Proserpina settled into the classroom and she adjusted her Prefect's badge for a moment. She wanted to be able to look good for the class anyway. She looked up at the professor with her soft eyes, waiting for class to begin. The prefect’s eyes looked upon the cage that was resting on her desk and she wondered why it was there. She hoped that they were not going to do anything that would be inhumane. She listened to Professor Black and then heard that they were going to be conjuring up a flock of birds. The spell was called Avis. That would be nice! The professor demonstrated this spell and she looked around to see if the others were as excited as she was. She thought over what kind of birds she was going to conjure before she settled on some very quiet ones. Hummingbirds. She loved those birds so much. She figured that it would be adorable! She concentrated on their features, and she intoned the spell with the right wand movement. Inside of her cage burst forth from emptiness to a small flock of hummingbirds. Once they were free to leave, Proserpina gathered her things and she left the classroom. |

Minoas once more entered the Transfiguration classroom. It was nearing the end of the semester and he was really looking forward for this year to come to an end. He sighed as he found his usual seat empty and went for it. Class had slightly lost his attention while he had focused a lot more now on his animagus training. He had no idea what his shape was and ever since he had decided to give up on apparition after the fiasco at the Great Hall, he really needed something to fill him with positiveness. Conjuring up birds might was sounding something really boring but Minoas had an idea ignited in his head. It was like that all the time for the sixth year Gryffindor. Something really unexpected could stimulate his inventiveness out of zero and Minoas would rush to get his grimoire out of his bag like now, to note down his idea. He scribbled on a blank page a few words that were going to remind him later of what he wanted to look for in the library and concentrated on the conjuring spell. "Avis." he intoned and a flock of chirping sparrows were conjured into the cage in front of him. He showed the cage to the professor once they were free to leave, and he went to the library to see if he could integrate the idea of summoning bird into something bigge he had in his mind. |
