Lesson 5: Nicolas was working on another list, only this time the list was for Potion ingredients he wanted to go and purchase later for personal use. He did in fact brew potions at home and even grew some of his own plants to use in them but he was running low and wanted to remind himself somehow that he needed to pick some up later. Just by the time he had finished writing down the last ingredient he heard the sounds of footsteps and immediately gathered that his Sixth Year class was about to begin. They had another potion to brew today so it wasn't going to be anything too tasking for them, and this potion was another one of Nicolas' favorite to brew just because it was another one of those tricky Potions to brew. And Thankfully, he did not have to taste these one's either. As soon they were all settled he quickly put up on the boars their instructions and everything they would need. "The last Potion you'll be brewing for the year is the Draught of the Living Death, have fun guys and try not to kill each other." Nicolas couldn't help but grin at them, a memory filled him of he and his little sister when they had to brew this Potion together, it didn't have a pretty ending but it was still a good memory. The brunette shook his head gently and went back to his desk so he could watch over the students brewing their potions carefully.

The fifth week of lessons arrived and made the Hufflepuff Prefect, Proserpina Laurent, a little nervous about the exams coming up. Getting dressed and finding her badge, the young blonde hurried up to the classroom that was Potions. After all, Potions was amazing, and the professor was really cute too, she knew that she thought about it a lot, but it was true! Professor Hensel must hear that a lot if he could read minds! She was sure that he could in fact since he seemed happy a lot. She would be happy too if she managed to hear from the minds of others that she was really cute. But she was sure that her sister received more of that than she ever would. Shaking her head as she thought about it, she looked up to see what potion that they were going to be brewing. It was the Draught of Living Death. She wrote it down and then got started on the potion. The first thing to do, as always, was pouring the four cups of water into the cauldron and turned it on low for a slow boil. She had to crush the five wormwood stems first, and then shredded the ten Ashpodel petals. She powdered the four Valerium roots and by the time that was done, she saw that it was time to start adding. She added the crushed stems and left it to congeal for five minutes. She whisked briefly for another five minutes and added the powdered valerium to the mix. It looked black so far. She increased the heat and added the petals. She stirred twice and left it alone for two minutes. It looked lilac now. She then added the bean and stirred immediately counterclockwise seven times and once clockwise. She reduced the heat and it looked like water after a few moments. She removed it from the heat, bottled it and turned it in. She left the classroom rather proud of herself. |
