Connor sat ready and waiting for the students to file into the classroom. She had been running a tad late and left the door open on her way in. Pacing at the front of the room till the last student walked in Connor went over the lesson plan in her head. "As a reminder, I am Professor Barnard and you are all here for First Year Charms lesson." Taking attendance quickly Connor flicked her wand so the door would close. "Now, today we will be learning a spell. I was very pleased with the accomplishments of last class with that one. Today is another very useful spell. But it can also be very dangerous if you're not careful, just like the last. Accio. In Latin it means 'I summon', does anyone know what this spell does by that?" Connor asked the classroom, she hadn't told them in advance like with the first charm they learned, but she had pretty much given away the answer. A few students raised their hands and she pointed to the first one she saw. "A charm which you summon things to you," the student said, not very sure of themselves however. Connor smiled brightly at the student. "That is correct!" Connor noted in her grade chart to add a few extra house points to the student's house for answering the question correctly. "The summoning charm, often referred to as Accio, is another useful charm to know and most wizards use this when feeling extremely lazy, or are otherwise tied up and unable to retrieve the thing they want manually. This charm comes in handy when you need to reach something at a distance. You need to focus on what is being summoned. You must also state clearly what you want to summon." Connor paused in her lecture for those students who were writing everything down. "Now before taking out your wands I want you to repeat after me to get the pronunciation down correctly. Accio. Accio." Connor said the spell and listened as the student repeated after her. Pulling out her wand Connor look about the room for something which wasn't very dangerous that she could have flying across the class to her. She spotted a quill which one of the students had dropped on the floor unknowingly. "Accio quill," she said flicking her wand. The quill came buzzing towards her and she caught it in her free hand. "You must think clearly about what it is you want. If you want your sweater, be sure to add in my sweater, that way you won't be charged with thief for getting someone else's sweater," Connor said amused in the thoughts of first years being charged with such things. Of course she was making sure that they wouldn't have such things happen to them. Walking through the aisle she dropped the quill off on the desk of the student's she had borrowed it from while giving them instructions. "Now I want you all to get up, pick one thing of yours which is not very harmful. I suggest your textbook or maybe your robes. Place them along the wall with the windows. Then move across the class and stand at the wall opposite. You won't need to be directly across from your object, if you wish for a challenge don't be. If you want a smoother first try than do be," Connor told her class. Moving back to the front of the room she waited until the students were positioned and ready to start. She hoped that by making them get up and move they would be more energetic about practicing the charm. "Today's spell will just need a simple flick of your wand, please copy my movements without saying anything," she said before demonstrating the flicking of the wand a few times for them to follow. "Good now face your item, where ever it may be, and say Accio while do the wand movement. Once you've mastered the spell at least twice you may go. Homework will be written on the board by the door, please be sure to complete it by the next class. Good luck, and I'll be around to help." Connor watched for a few moments as the students began to practice the spell. Her eyes followed a few who seemed to be having a bit of a difficult start, but she was pleased with the overall success of her students. They all seemed to be fast learners.

Paige was walking to the Charms Classroom with Andrea following into her steps, her last grade had made her angry and she was out for revenge. She had read lots of Charms books and even practised some of the spells how on earth would she get an E, that was super awful and Paige felt like crying. Paige was angry at everything and especially her Professor for not seeing her talents, she was blind obviously. Paige seated herself on a desk and Paige could not really care were she sat, her excitement was down below zero and Paige wanted to harm someone of something. Paige took out her materials from her bag rather harshly breaking some of the feathers on her spare quill. Paige was lazily listening to the Professor, she knew the answer and was going to show of her talents by saying the answer. Paige was fast and she knew that her hand raised first muttering the answer. "A charm which you summon things to you," Paige knew she was right and this was almost the standard textbook answer. Paige almost demanded extra House Points for her answer, it was not only that Paige was angry on her Professor, on herself, but she was ashamed that she let her House down with getting an average grade not a good one in Paige her eyes. Paige pulled out her wand and repeated everything the Professor said ''Accio..Accio.'' This was one spell that Paige had not tried yet, since it was not in her First Year book. Paige noted the things down that the Professor said and took her Brown Leathered Bag and placed it along the wall with the windows, Paige was more of a challenging type and decided to stand more to the right and not standing directly in front of it. Paige flicked her wand the same way as the Professor and retried this part a couple of times. Paige was still angry, but this was Charms her favourite subject and she could not care less that this Professor was kind of stupid. Paige took her wand and made the proper hand movement with a clear voice she said: ''Accio Brown Leathered Bag.'' Paige was very specific and focused on what she wanted she could see her now empty bag summoming towards her. Paige her brown leathered bag was the only one so Paige was specific as she could be. Paige took her bag and laid it back on the same place that it was the second before she had used the spell, the spell was good for lazy people. Paige returned to her old place and said: ''Accio Brown Leathered Bag.'' The brown leathered bag coming back to her and Paige was happy that the spell had worked for her, but Paige was not excited about it she would receive an E again anyway, the Professor was not nice to her and Paige wondered if she even liked Slytherin. Paige tried one more time after that attempt and Paige left the Classroom with her filled bag, not caring if Andrea followed her she was still mad at everyone really.

That morning was...unusual. Not because anything was different, no, she got up and got dressed, gathered her things and met Paige down in the common room. It was more the aura that seemed to circle around her friend as they headed out of the dungeons and towards the Charms classroom. She was stomping down the hallway a few paces ahead of her and seemed rather distraught about something; Andrea wasn't sure it'd be wise to ask. Frowning slightly, she followed her friend into the classroom and sat beside her, scooting away slightly as she slammed her textbooks, parchment and quills around, getting ready for the class. There was no chatter this time. Quietly, Andrea followed suit, a lot more gentle in unloading her pack than her friend, and she straightened when the professor began to speak. She could feel the rage and disappointment emanating from her friend and she wasn't sure how to comfort Paige without seeming rude. So she stayed quiet and listened to Professor Barnard, drawing her wand when it was appropriate in order to practice. "Accio. Accio." She repeated obediently, before flicking her wand as directed and following the motion with her eyes. She was determined to get this down and, with luck, on the first try. When the professor announced it was time to practice, Andrea unhooked a small pin she always wore, a gift from her father, and set it across the room, moving so she was standing somewhere other than directly across from it. Then, lifting her wand and staring hard at the small glint of gold that was her pin, she flicked her wand as directed and said, "Accio my pin." The little piece of jewelry rolled over but didn't fly in her direction and she frowned, stepping a bit closer and trying again. That time, it came flying straight towards her and she caught it swiftly in her hand; she wanted to be a Seeker after all. She placed it back in the same position and took a few steps back, putting more distance between her and the pin and lifting her wand, flicking it towards the pin again and saying, "Accio my pin." That time, there was no hesitation, and the pin was resting safely in her palm. Packing up her things and fastening the pin back on the front of her robes, Andrea as ready to go in an instant and had to run to catch up to her obviously irritated friend. She had a feeling that tonight wasn't going to be an easy night.
