Professor Davershire was excited to begin today's lesson, because she had a prank item that would amuse her students.

Ava had done her research, and found out that a few students had been involved with some simple jokes in the past that involved candy; she knew she certainly had been involved in her fair few pranks. She watched for any sign of giggling or smiling to give any pranksters away; they would know what was up. As she watched, a few of her class started to giggle and soon a giggle-fest ensued. Someone decided to be a smart alec and pointed at the canary cream. "Look, she's gonna teach us to turn people into canaries!"

Professor Davershire grinned. "We will use this as an example."

Some students still giggled. "This is called a canary cream. Not many people eat them on a regular basis, though. Can any of you tell me why?" She pointed at a girl with her hand up in the back row.

""Because we'll turn into canaries?" she said.

Professor Davershire smiled again. "Exactly. Once upon a time, transfiguration spells were placed into objects so that when they were touched; or in this case, ingested, a transfiguration spell was triggered.

Back in Ireland in the 1300's, a fellow by the name of Aksel cast a spell into a rock in the middle of a wooded area that caused everyone that touched it to have their fingers turned into sausages. To this day, no one knows why a wizard would cast such a randomly malicious spell, but for some reason or another, use of the spell fell into sharp decline shortly after. Today's wizards seem to only imbue objects with magic to fulfill the youth's unquenchable thirst practical jokes.
"

Professor Davershire picked the little pastry up and continued to speak. "These little treats look tasty and small, but the spells that go into them to turn the eater into a canary are some of the difficult to cast. First you've got to cast a spell to turn the object itself into an enchanted object, much like you would to create a portkey. Then you've got to cast a transfiguration spell--a switching spell, to be precise, into it in such a manner that it will radiate outward to affect another object or person.

One would think that such a complicated spell would draw the most intelligent and powerful wizards to think of creative and useful ways to use it but so far we have joke items.
" She looked around the room with a devilish smirk on her face. "So. Is there anyone brave enough to eat this?" She winked at the room.

Roleplay the lesson. Extra credit to the first one to try the canary cream ;)
