Connor walked into the Charms classroom for the third and last time that week. Today should be teaching all of the houses in the third year class. It was going to be a simple introduction to herself and the rules, etc. Her hair was down and not very tidy at all. Black shirt and pants were under her black witches robe, which flew out behind her as she walked around. Connor Barnard felt the most comfortable in dark clothing, in her vision it made her blend in with most backgrounds as she hoped it did for others as well. But here in the Hogwarts castle the walls glowed on the redder side of what she could see, she felt exposed here. It was very different from Durmstrang. Waving her wand to let the door creak open she sat down at her desk looking over notes and other papers on the desk, waiting for the students to arrive. She found the lesson plan for Professor Haden's older class and she was jealous of the spells he got to teach them. Of course she was going to make sure these students were fully prepared after next year to face him and the OWLs. "Welcome back to the Charms classroom students. I realize I am a new face to all of you. My name is Connor Barnard, but I expect you to address me as Professor Barnard and nothing else. I was schooled at Durmstrang Academy. After graduating I moved to Australia and began to compete in dueling championships. I've gathered many winning prizes and I have my excellent use of charms to thank for my wins." Connor looked about the classroom. The students were still tiny, most thirteen or twelve, and still very short. She was surprised not see much of a difference between her second years and them. Though she couldn't remember when it was that she had hit her growth spurt and became the giant at 1.8meters tall. She never bothered with high heels because of it. "On the board you will see the Rules of the Classroom as well as a list of spells which we will cover this year. Be sure to write it all down." Connor said with a wave of her wand and all the information appeared on the board for the students. She waited till most seemed to be nearing the end of the lists before commenting any further. "I expect you all to attend every lesson. If you are in the Hospital Wing due to some injury be sure to have the nurses forward me a note so I can set aside the information for you. Which you will have to come to my office and get yourself, I will not bring it to the next class. That is all for today. Be prepared with wands at the ready next class." Connor said as she dismissed the students off to go do other things. She knew she wasn't the friendliest teacher at the school, but she was there to teach, not be their friend.

Ty's first week back was shaping up pretty well. He was enjoying his classes, well the ones he had already done and had spent still a bit of his time with his friends. It was all going fairly well. He wasn't feeling overly overwhelmed. Well, not yet. Charms was one of these classes that Tybalt had a secret love for. He enjoyed magic to no end and the ability to cast spells was always interesting to him. Which was also why the teen loved Defense Against The Dark Arts. This was different, he knew that of course, but he was still excited to learn new spells. Having read the textbook the night before the teen felt confident that he knew what they would studying. And once he had confirmation between all the other things that he did the boy was sure that he would have more than enough time to practice. More than enough time to get everything done. Easy. He was up and getting ready first thing. Taking his clothes to the bathroom so that he could get dressed right after the shower. Once he had done that, the teen walked back into the dorm room. With the ever familiar bounce in his step. Smiling as he did so. Putting in his contacts after grabbing all the stuff for his bag. With a last glance at the mirror the boy left the room and headed down towards the charms classroom. Seemingly incredibly excited for a class so early in the day. The class itself was empty when the teen arrived. He made his way to the usual spot at the back of the classroom. Taking out his books and waiting for both his friends and for the professor to begin. It didn't take long for either to happen. Before he knew it, the teen's friends had appeared and the professor stood at the front of the room ready to begin her lesson. A new professor he noted. He remembered her from the opening feast of the year. But from nothing else. He liked the look of her. She seemed nice. But that didn't exactly bother the young teen. The professor began, introducing herself and saying which school she had attended. Which the teen was interested enough in. For a part. She then explained what to do in the event that a person was injured. He thought that was nice. He was a beater on a quidditch team he was obviously going to have some issues when it came to games where he could get very seriously injured. Good to know he might get exempt from class. Or doing work. It was with that, that the class was dismissed. He was quick to note down what was on the board before gathering his things and leaving the room, turning to Indiana and mouthing the word Quidditch? Before heading to the Great hall to pick up something to eat before heading to the pitch. |

Bituin woke that morning ready for the day. She would be first heading to Charms and then lunch. She would do some of her homework in the earlier afternoon and then go to the pitch for the Ravenclaw team as she was the seeker. She found it interesting how despite she schedule being so full that she wanted to cancel all of it and spend the day with Tybalt Archer. Getting ready that morning she knew she'd see him in class. But he would sit in the back of the classroom with Indiana and she would be in the front. She wished she wouldn't have to worry about them being secret but it was a general class which meant her sister would be there as well. There was no way she could risk her sister finding out about her more than friendship with Tybalt. But she did wish he would kiss her again soon. But more she missed him the more she realized being a secret was hard and she was sure he was having the same problems. Entering the class she noticed that they were the only two there. She smiled at her boyfriend before sitting down in the front row. She was glad that she at least had that chance to say Hello. Soon enough the rest of the class was there and the new Professor began the lesson. She wondered why they were having a new Professor but it did not matter much to her. She just hoped this one knew what she was doing. Writing down the few things on the board she remembered reading about a few of the charms and she was excited for the chance to learn them. Some of them were pretty cool, she thought. Packing up her bag Bituin was one of the first to leave the classroom, it was a plus sitting in the front so close to the door. |

Rosie tucked a strand of dark brown hair out of her face and sighed softly to herself. Right now she was fairly content with how her semester was going. Rosie was taking a fair amount of classes, but they were all pretty easy so she wasn't struggling to keep up with her homework and assignments. "I really just hope that it stays like this all semester. Otherwise, I'm going to be doing nothing but spending week after week holed up in the dorms again, to finish everything." Rosie thought to herself as she entered the Charms classroom and found a seat towards the front row. Rosie might have been particularly smart, but she didn't get like that naturally. Actually, when Rosie was in primary school, she used to struggle a lot. Learning was difficult for her when she was little. Thankfully that wasn't the case now. Rosie glanced up from her Charms textbook and glanced briefly at the Professor. She must have been new. Rosie was pretty good at recognizing Professor's, and this one didn't seem the least bit familiar. Rosie hoped she was a decent teacher, mostly because one of Rosie's biggest pet peeves was not knowing the material she was supposed to known. The classroom quickly filled up and the new Professor promptly started class. As per usual, they were reminded of the rules. Rosie was a little bit too busy reading the rules to listen to the introduction the Professor was giving about herself, mostly because Rosie wanted to make sure they were the same rules she had been used to in previous years. Rosie quickly scratched them all down on some spare parchment. Right along with the small list of charms they were also going to be going over this year. They were all pretty standard charms, not to mention fairly well known. Or at least to Rosie they were. "Then again, I did take a peek at my textbooks during the Holiday break. But I'll just leave that part out." After Rosie finished writing down all of the charms they were going to learn, she packed away her notes. Chances of them doing more than this today were somewhat slim. After one more brief explanation, the Professor dismissed them. Rosie grabbed her book bag and headed out of the classroom with her classmates. |

Witty - Loosening Up

Nikandros Matthias was not entirely sure about looking forward to the week of school ahead. The first week always went over the same thing. Rules and what they were going to be learning. The only class that he was looking forward to this year would be none other than Charms. The others were just boring, and why would he look forward to those at all? This semester would be one of the worst to him. He dreaded this year. He sighed and he looked around the classroom as he found his seat which he would remain in for the rest of the semester. He hated the thoughts of working hard for his studies, but what else could he do? He needed to impress his dad at some point. He looked up and noticed that there was a change in professors, which was not surprising to the Gryffindors. The school seemed to go through changes a lot. The professor started up the Charms lesson, and her name was Professor Barnard. He did not listen to what her first name was, since he did not care what it was. She was schooled over at Durmstrang, and how he wished he could have been there. Been there instead of here, where there were so many idiots. He would have been taught where his father was. She sounded like she had done so much, and he wondered if they were supposed to be impressed. He rolled his amber eyes as he thought about it. The Gryffindor looked over the rules, and knew that there was no reason why he should write them down. The charms however, he did write down in his regular, almost unreadable handwriting. Then they were dismissed, which was not surprising on the first lesson. He gathered his things and left in a hurry. |

Damon Kyle loved his family now, and he was looking forward to each and every day that he was with them, but this was the first time he really wanted to not go to classes, and just go back home. However the Hufflepuff would endure it since he really liked the classes here. How could he not? The third year loved all of the classes, even the one that he was walking into currently. Sighing, he found his seat next to his best friend as per usual. He had heard that she might have liked someone. Of course Damon was not jealous or anything since he did not really like anyone like that. He was too focused on his studies and on his friends to really care that much about having a girlfriend. Could one really blame him though? Damon settled into his seat and he waited for the class to begin, which he was eager to. Finally! It was time to start the Charms lesson! Damon was incredibly excited to meet the new professor, whom was Professor Barnard. She seemed rather proud of what she had accomplished, but he did not know what a Durmstrang was. The dueling championships, he had no idea either. Damon was rather ignorant of a lot of the magical world but he was starting to understand some of it, which was better than when he first came to the school. He looked over at the board and he wrote down the rules since he thought that he might not be able to remember them. He wrote down the spells too since they were needed. And he needed to know what they were so he could study then! He heard the dismissal so he packed his things and left the classroom with a smile on his bright face. |

Bryce Chamberlin had some classes to work on. After Divination, he had a couple of other classes that were not that good to him. He had his favorite already finished and over with the previous semester, and this semester, he was going into a few that would take some time out of his already busy schedule with Quidditch, time with Roo, and the yearbook. He was a busy third year, and he was working on climbing to the top with his best friend. He hoped that they would be able to share that together one day. Bryce entered the classroom that he was due in, and he looked at the professor that appeared new. Great, someone else that would have to get used to the fact that he was deaf. That was just lovely. With an annoyed expression, he got ready for the class to begin, which it was about to since he arrived on time. At long last as Bryce watched the lips of the professor move, the lesson was finally beginning. That was the thing that he wanted to see most of all. He did not want to sit here for so long. He did not catch her name since he did not recognize the word, but asked Rosie quietly for it to be written down so he would guess. Once he figured it out, he turned his eyes back to her, having missed out on what all she had done in her life. Bryce thought that he had missed something. He turned his eyes toward the board and saw the rules which were straightforward and then saw the spells which he rolled his eyes at. He was not a fan of spellwork since he always had to use his voice which was why he really looked forward to nonverbal spells. However he would have to live. Once they were dismissed, he packed up. Bryce left the classroom to go work on other things. |

Sergei Zhefarovich was hoping for a better semester but this semester, could it have gotten any worse? Sergei thought that it could have, but then again he did not respect any sort of subject except his uncles’, and that was only because he felt like he had to. They were his family members after all, and he had to respect them no matter who they were. He was just glad that his other uncle, Prodan, no longer taught Muggle Studies. Now that was a shame upon the family, but he had quit, and saw the error of his ways. The Slytherin pushed these thoughts aside as he entered the classroom and found himself seated. His dark eyes landed on the professor, and it was a new one surprisingly. Actually it was not a shock. This school could never find anyone good to stick around for long. Would this one be a change? Once the third years were inside of the classroom, the first class of Charms could begin. The professor introduced herself as Professor Barnard, and of course the last name meant nothing to him, despite her claiming that she had won dueling championships and whatnot. Sergei sighed and he tuned out what she was going about in her life and what all she had done. Instead he wanted to learn about something actually useful. Sergei looked down at the desk and tapped his fingers against it softly, four times over and over in a rhythm. As soon as they went over the rules, he instead wrote down the spells since he did not pay any attention to anything else. The spells were interesting enough, none of which looked unfamiliar to him since he did nothing but read in his spare time. they were finally dismissed, so he gathered his things and left. |

Indiana made her way to the Charms classroom. She had gotten up early that morning and managed to get down to the Great Hall for Breakfast. It was really nice to have that alone time, cause in the Dorms she was always surrounded by other girls and at breakfast she got to sit along and and not worry about others for awhile. But she did have to go to class and she was proud that she had remembered to pack her charms things in her bag and grab her bag before leaving. It was a handmedown over the shoulder bag from her sister's years at Hogwarts. The satchel really worked well for her and she loved it. Heading into the classroom she instantly made her way back to Tybalt glad to see him already in his seat. Last semester she made it a game in her head to try to beat him to all the classes but it only worked a few times. The rest she had been too lazy for. Settling in she saw that it was a nice Professor at the front from when she last took the course her first year. The professor went into details about her life which she found interesting, she hadn't thought about dueling much but she knew there was a club at the school for it. Taking down notes on the rules and spells she found the rules to be very similar to other professor's rules. Once dismissed Indiana had been thinking of going back up to the Common Room to chill but Tybalt had gotten her attention about going down to the pitch and she nodded. She loved spending time practicing with Tybalt. |

As Preston walked, he was chewing slowly on a piece of toast. He had arrived in the Great Hall with only enough time to take a quick swig of orange juice and grab food to go. It was usually that way with him and let him know that he was right on schedule, for him. For everyone else, he was bordering on lateness. Slipping into the classroom, Preston stuffed the last bite into his mouth and dusted some crumbs off of his robes. He looked around quickly, seeing chairs here and there. Moving, Preston took the seat right in front of Tybalt. He turned to look at Indiana, wondering if she had received his owl yet. He had been just about to ask her when the professor began to speak. Preston looked at her right away, realizing that it would be easy to pay attention in this class. The professor was very pretty. As she spoke about herself, Preston found himself hanging onto every word. He didn't know that Dueling competitions even existed. It was pretty fascinating to think about. As the professor's outline came on the board, Preston reached for a quill so he could jot some things down. He really was trying to do his best this semester. Soon enough, the lesson was over. Preston packed his bag slowly and then headed for the door. Once again, Indiana was busy with Tybalt. He could only hope that his owl had arrived during breakfast time. It'd be nice to talk to her. Preston had a lot to say to his friend. |

Josefina headed into the Charms glad that on her way to every class was the Great Hall and breakfast or lunch, whatever meal it was. But living in the dungeons also meant that most of her classes were the farthest away from her dorm. But she didn't mind, as long as the Professors didn't take too long so she could move on and go and do her own thing. Heading into the class she found herself sitting directly behind her sister. Glad she was there so she could annoy the girl the entire time. She knew she wouldn't even have to much and hit her chair or anything to freak Bituin out. The Ravenclaw would just be so nervous that she would jump at every shadow. It had been a long time since they last talked. Josefina found interest in other people. Listening to the Professor she found the dueling interesting, something she might want to pursue. She knew there was some sort of club on campus, or used to be. But she was certain that most of the people in there she wouldn't like and end up using the killing curse on. Writing down what the Professor said the girl was glad that the class would be short. Packing up her things she moved out of the class behind her sister, but afterwards went another way. Giving the younger girl a break for once. |
