Another week rolled around, and Professor Misha Haden was in his office, with many three tiered cakes in front of him. One for each person in the class. He had seen that previous professors had used fairly pudding bowls. And well, Misha wasn’t interested in doing that, he didn’t see how the pudding bowls would be a good thing to use. They were still too light, and in his experience could be levitated very easily with a very strong Wingardium Leviosa spell. Misha believed that a three tier cake was much heavier and much more easily helped him prove the point he was attempting to make. He picked up his wand and all the cakes rose, leaving his office one by placing themselves at the very front of the room. Settling themselves upon a table he had set up at the very front of the room. He then, opened the charm room door fully, to let the sixth years begin to stream in when they arrived. Professor Haden headed back into his office, and like every other day, he made himself a cup of tea. Once that was done, he took his tea with him and went back into the charms classroom, happy to note that all his students had arrived, ”Good Morning Sixth year, I hope you’ve had a pleasant week, and I’m glad to say, that I got no reports of seemingly disappearing first years.” He said, making his way to stand in front of the table of cakes. ”I do hope however that you did practice last week’s spell” He looked around at the class. Smiling at them. He wanted to just get started, they didn’t have much to cover and he wanted to be sure everyone got a shot at practicing. "If you did the reading, you’ll know that today we will be looking at the Hover charm," He said with a smile, making his way around the back of the table and putting down his mug. He walked back to the front, his wand in hand. "It is a levitation charm as the name would suggest, and works much like Planerio or Wingardium Leviosa. What sets it apart, is that it is a lot stronger.” Professor Haden had discovered he did this thing he called pacing. Walking back and forth as he spoke, so that he was in front of all the rows at one point, ”Applied correctly, the Hover Charm will allow you to levitate something heavy, something possibly even heavier than a human. Perhaps useful for the prefects." Misha said moving to stand at the side of the cakes. He waved his wand, and the entire table, plus the cakes were raised off the ground. He looked to the class and smiled. Before placing it back onto the ground. ”Today’s task is simple. There is a cake for everyone, levitate it.” He gave another wave of his wand, and all the cakes went to be on the tables in front of the students. ”There is also a box of knives sitting on my table, using the hover charm, or the summoning charm you learned as first years, take a knife and cut yourself a slice of cake. Eat it, throw it, I don't care. This is to help you practice” He took a seat on the table where the cakes had been moments before. ”If you feel really confident with the spell, feel free to levitate your desk, my desk, or anything else in this room. Just not the people.” He gave a warm smile. ”I’ll be here, if you have any questions, and once you feel confident, you can leave. The homework, as always is to the read the next chapter, which is on flame freezing charm” Homework - Just RP the lesson. Have as much or as little fun as you want with it too! |

Finally, the fourth week rolled around and Troxa Matthias could finally breathe a sigh of relief. He would not have to walk too far for a while as soon as the holidays began. Then he could just lay around which was what he did best. Though thinking about it, he really just wanted to chill out for some time. Troxa felt like he needed a break despite the fact that he was not even in his OWL or NEWT year just yet, and he had dropped some courses! Troxa was one of those lazier Slytherins, and he did not want to do much. If he did not have to do it, one would not expect him to do it. After all, Troxa would only do what was required of him, and since he was a Prefect now, it was a lot more than he expected to ever do in Hogwarts. Professor Haden started up the class and he greeted them happily, and he knew that he did not make any first years vanish even though he would gladly want to. He did practice though and managed to make himself vanish at one point, but he had not practiced in a few days. They were going to be going over the Hover charm which was pretty good. He had read that it was a lot more powerful than Wingardium Leviosa which he had never used anymore. They could hover people even, and that would be awesome! He had always wanted to do that to someone! Now they had to practice with hovering a knife and cut a slice of cake. That sounded yummy. He looked at the cake, before he managed to use the hover charm on the knife and cut himself a slice of cake. He was not very confident, so he did not try to hover anything else. |

The fourth week of lessons came just too soon for the Hufflepuff Prefect, Proserpina Laurent. Getting dressed, the young blonde hurried up to the classroom that she was due to attend to. After all, Charms was amazing, and the professor was really cute too. So it was a win win situation, one that she could continually win every time! Proserpina was really lucky to have attended this class for so long. She managed to get past the OWL, and she was that much closer to becoming a healer, she could almost taste it. She really wanted to become a nurse and be able to help someone, but she did not know what field that she wanted to be in. The baby field, the one with charms and potions mishaps, she just did not know. She would think about it this year and next before she applied to work there. Then she could really become someone! They were greeted by Professor Haden which made Proserpina smile in her own way of greeting. She did not want to speak out of term at all. That would be just rude. She remembered doing the reading the other week, and it was the Hover Charm. She wanted to practice it, and she would be glad when she could practice it. It was the best levitation charm, and she could not wait to make herself hover and pretend that she was flying! She could do that, right? For their first task, they had to levitate the cake to them, and then cut a slice using the knife. She did not want to use the summoning spell that was for sure. Proserpina hovered the cake to her, and then she managed to cut a slice of cake for her. She was confident enough to hover her desk afterward but she left the classroom once they were dismissed to work on the reading for the next charm. |

Dressed in the usual Hufflepuff girls uniform, Meera climbed the moving staircase of Hogwarts castle making her way to Charms class after morning breakfast. Charms was slowly coming up to be her favorite subject. The spells that they were learning were always interesting and Professor Misha had his fun way about lessons that the other Professors at Hogwarts simply lacked. Getting into her usual seat once inside the class, Meera waited for the lesson to begin. She had done her reading on the hover charm and was prepared to try it in the class. After Professor Misha explained them the task he had set, Meera was excited because in weeks she had been given something challenging. The cakes were looking real nice, she was glad that they were allowed to taste it. Getting her wand out, Meera pointed it to the cake on her desk and did the hovering charm. Someone's knife was almost about to slice through her cake as it was being summoned and this made her loose her focus, the cake which was only a few centimeters in the air landed back on the desk with a thump but luckily it did not break or go flying in all directions. Once again Meera cast the hovering charm on her cake allowing it to slowly rise. At first she could feel the strength this spell required since the cake was at least 2.5kilograms. Summoning the knife quickly she kept her focus as she made the knife to cut a perfect slice of cake and bring it to herself in a plate. As she tasted the cake she figured it was soft, vanilla but there was too much cream on it for her liking. She practiced some more as she attempted to cut more slices and then as the lesson came to an end she packed her stuff and cleaned her desk before leaving the class. |

Minoas entered the Charms classroom. He might was sleepy that morning but Charms was, if not his favorite, one of his favorite subjects and as soon as the professor was going to start the class, he knew he drowsiness was going to be nonexistent. This year's spells were admittedly more complex, needed extra devotion, but this was making them more interesting at the same time. Minoas was up to everything challenging and with spells that needed a little bit of an effort, he was always happy to be back for another class. Minoas looked up at Professor Haden after he was already seated. The man's classes were really enjoyable for Minoas. It was one of the few professors at Hogwarts that knew how to keep his student's interest at peak. At least he managed to do that with Minoas. While the professor was going to announce another interesting session, Minoas noticed what was there between the students and the professor. Three tier cakes were arranged in front of each student. Having no breakfast, Minoas' stomach responded with a growl. It wasn't Professor Haden's birthday, they were just going to learn the hover charm. Minoas knew it was a replacement of the previous useless levitation charm, he had learnt at his first year. Minoas had tried to levitate heavier objects but the levitation spell was limited to lighter objects. Minoas' hope of using the spell on themselves seemed no longer a possibility. It was clear they had to use it on the cakes and if they were going to fail, they were going to cause a sticky mess. In the end, their task wasn't only to hover the cake but also use the same spell to hover a knife and cut a slice of cake. When the professor told me to start, Minoas waved his wand and pointed at his three tier cake. The cake hovered over the surface it was placed. It was harder than the previous easy levitation charms. Minoas could feel the weight of the cake although he was magically controlling it. Fully concentrated on his spell, he brought the cake closer to him. He sighed as he managed to hover it successfully with a single try and without spilling it to the floor. The he casted the hovering charm again. A knife hovered above the caked. With a flick of his wand the knife dropped and its steel blade sunk into chocolate and sponge cake. A few moments later he had a large slice of chocolate cake in his hands. After finishing eating it, he attempted to hover his own desk. He tried several times throughout the remaining time until he managed to hover it a few inches off the floor. The class was dismissed but practice for Minoas hadn't ended. He headed straight to an abandoned classroom at the same floor and continued casting the hovering charm on a heavy table until he succeeded. |
