Misha was fairly exhausted. He had been working hard on some external marking he was doing as a favour to a friend, and well he had been up all night, which made him a little tired come the morning of his class. He had wanted to prepare a lesson in which they went outside to the ground and froze a fire or two, but he didn't feel motivated to prepare that on the day, so the student would be getting, a simple and sweet lesson. After making his usual morning tea, at the usual time, Professor Haden walked into the classroom, where his sixth year students were. "Good Morning guys!" He greeted them, with the same jovial tone as always. He might be tired, and this lesson may be short, but he couldn't be tired in front of students. He was young, that may seem unprofessional. "Hopefully, you have done the reading, the end of the term is soon, as are your exams!" He paced sligtly in front of the students, "If you have, you'll know that today we are looking at the Flame Freezing Charm. You'll also know that we need a tiny little history lesson." A few people in the class look annoyed at this, "It'll only take a few seconds, I promise. Anyway, back about three hundred years and more, muggles preferred to burn those individuals suspected of having magic at the stake. Many of these people did not suffer a painful death, but instead had only to suffer through theatrics. How did they do this? They learned how to change the properties of fire." Misha smiled at the room, removed the wand from his pocket and gave it a small flick. All of the things of his desk, flew off and settled themselves on the ground, not too far away. The professor walked round so he was at the back of his table, looking out at the class. Once again with a small flick of his wand, a tiny part of the table was set alight. The flames began to rise, and dance, as fire always did. He cast the flame Freezing charm and then placed his hand in the middle of the fire. "The Flame Freezing Charm changes the properties of fire so that its heat feels like a warm breeze. Which is why my hand is not burning. It feels like a tickling sensation against my fingers." He removed his hand from the fire and got rid of the fire. "Now, it's your turn" Professor Misha demonstrated the spell, and reminded them that it was dangerous to play with fire, so they should be careful. "Don't worry, I will help you keep things under control, and no one can put there hand into the fire, until I have tried it myself. Outside of this classroom, practice at your own risk, but please avoid burning down the school. There will no reading for next week, just revise folks." Homework -RP the lesson. You don't need to practice in class, your character can just leave. Feel free to RP Misha helping you out. Posting this early since I won't be around next Friday to post it. And it's better early than late. |

It was just moments until the last week, and Troxa Matthias was so happy to know that he would have a holiday away from walking up stairs. That was one of the reasons why he did not appreciate having to walk up and down those stairs. Those stairs were annoying, but at least Charms was closer than Divination, and he could appreciate it more than others could. Just because of the walk, but the walk to History of Magic was a lot better too. But right now, it was Charms. It was the fifth lesson, and he had done the reading so he knew what they were going to be doing this time around, which was the Flame Freezing Charm, something that he wanted to try on his own, but he managed to burn himself in the process. That was embarrassing to explain to the nurse. Well, whatever, now was his chance to get it right. They were greeted once more, which was not that bad. Troxa thought that the professor was nice, and sometimes some professors were just annoying, even with their greeting. Professor Le Fey was like that, but she also had freaky eyes. They were going to be talking about the Flame Freezing Charm which was really nice. They were taught some history about the actually wizarding people that were burned at the stake, though they really were not since they had invented that spell. Then the professor set the table on fire, and then cast another spell and stuck his hand into the fire. Troxa was amazed. He was not being burned! Apparently it was almost like a tickling sensation to him, which Troxa thought was really cool, but he did not really want to cast that spell. But they had to. This time, he walked up and he cast the spell. He felt something different and stuck his hand into the fire. It did not burn! And they did not have homework so he left in a good mood. |

The fifth week of lessons arrived and made the Hufflepuff Prefect, Proserpina Laurent, a little nervous about the exams coming up. Getting dressed and finding her badge, the young blonde hurried up to the classroom that was Charms. After all, Charms was amazing, and the professor was really cute too, she knew that she thought about it a lot, but it was true! Proserpina was really lucky to have attended this class for so long. She managed to get past the OWL which took a lot, and she was that much closer to becoming a healer, she could almost taste it. She was really close to graduating, and she was a little nervous about it. She hoped that she could graduate with really good grades. She needed them after all in some classes to continue them throughout her school career. Charms, she was not sure if it was one of them or not. Upon greeting, the prefect noticed that he seemed a little tired. She wondered why but did not say anything. Proserpina settled into her seat a bit more before she remembered what they were going over this week, which was the Flame Freezing Charm. Although she was a little disappointed that they were given a bit of a history lesson, but with the history lesson, it was short and it was very nice! She thought that it was entertaining, so it was definitely not boring! The professor also demonstrated the charm in front of the glass, and she gasped silently when the professor stuck his hand into the fire. She was lad that he was not hurt, but she was a little mortified when it was their turn. Once she caused her own little fire, she cast the spell and had the professor try it before she did. She was very thankful that it was not burning. Now she left, with a happy ending to that lesson |

Meera entered the charms class looking forward to the lesson. She had read about the flame freezing charms and the way some wizards used it was quite interesting. She couldn't wait to try it for herself. Soon the class begun and Professor Misha was there once again sipping his hot beverage as he introduced them to the lesson ahead. She begun noting down the important details as usual. She had been gifted a new quill by Arjun and she was putting it into good use as she took notes. Meera watched as Misha demonstrated the said spell. It was absolutely brilliant. This was one class that she was glad that she had chosen to attend. Meera was worried when Professor Misha said he would test the fire with his hand first. Couldn't they use a paper or something instead? Meera got her wand out and started a fire on her desk. Then carefully, doing her best attempt at concentrating she did the flame freezing spell and put her hand in the air to call Prof Misha to see if it had worked. With fingers crossed she watched as her charm was put on test and she breathed with relief when she got a yes. Putting her own hand in the fire she enjoyed watching the scenario. She wished she had a camera in the class to capture the scene. She practiced a few more times and then decided to leave because she had forgotten all about the exams and Herbology was something that she needed to review the most. |

Minoas entered the Charms classroom, thoroughly eager to start this lesson up. He was well prepared for Flame Freezing charm as he had tried to practise it on his own after mastering the hovering charm of last class. It was two, effortless hours of casting the charm again and again on the flame of a candle. Persistance paid off and Minoas extremely happy found himself putting his fingers in the flame without getting burned. He got carried away and he didn't consider the amount of time his charm was going to last. Now his middle and index finger had minor burns but the scars were attesting his success. He applied a greeny paste on his burnt fingers which he received the school's nurse. He spread the cool paste on the blister while he listened to some background information about the charm. He had skipped that part last night he was studying it and he had moved on to the practising part. Minoas had just now realized why he had to take over History of Magic in order to work in the field of experimenting charms. These stories could offer useful knowledge about how a spell could be created and help him with his own spells. As Professor Haden recounted the stories of wizads and witches burned by muggles, Minoas remembered of a witch that she overly enjoyed the tickling sensation of the Flame Freezing Charm that she was burned at the stake a few times. He couldn't remember her name but the fact he was remembering such a historical fact was just enough for him. The professor soon demonstrated the charm by causing the surface of his desk burst into flames and then casting the charm on it. He then stuck his hand into the fire and let it there long enough to show to the class that the fire's burning properties were long gone. When they were free to perform the spell, Minoas took out his wand. "Incendio!" he set the corner of his table on fire and then casted on it the new the charm. He started to stick his hand in the flickering flames, before he realized it was still hot. The spell didn't work as he had expected. He tried it again, more concentrated this time. The flames brushed his finger like a summer, warm breeze. He swept away a small flame from the main fire on the corner of his table and started playing with it in his hands. He clasped his palms to smother the flame and made sure the fire was out before he left the classroom after they were dismissed. |
