Professor Effie Snow was busy organizing through her bookshelf. It was an utter mess and she kept promising herself that she would get it taken care of one of these days. It wasn't until months later that she actually went through with it. A thick cloud of dust surrounded the books as she dusted the shelves off. The sound of footsteps signaled Effie to look toward the door. She waved at her students to come inside and sit down while she finished up. When all of the students were seated, Professor Snow broke away from the shelf and walked toward the center of the classroom, the clicking of her black heels against the floor stone floor signaled the slow steps she took closer and closer to her students. “Last lesson, we introduced and used the Pythagorean Number System to evaluate first names. This week we will be focusing on surnames.” Professor Snow gave a brief flick of her wand and the number chart reappeared on the left blackboard.
“Once again, I will be using the founder of this school as an example for the calculations required.” The petite professor once again pointed her wand at the blackboard, this time revealing even more information for the class to take in:
“Recall that all two digit numbers with the exception of 11 and 22 are separated into their individual digits and added together as such…”
“Therefore, the name Barker corresponds to the Number 1, which refers to the qualities of Leadership and Personal Resources.” Professor Snow then pointed at the blackboard on the right, revealing the following information from Numerology and Gramatica:
“Once again, we need to determine whether balance within the vibrations of the number has been achieved or whether there is a problem with the individual being underbalanced or overbalanced. For this week, I would like you to perform the required calculations for your surname using the Pythagorean System. For some of you, it might be appropriate for you to comment on your father or paternal grandfather if the attributes seem in any way connected to these individuals who have likely provided you with your surname.” The professor paused for a moment before addressing the one issue that might arise for the students in this class. It was something she had seen many times so she wanted to address it now. “In the event that both your first name and surname have the same number associated with them, I would ask that you pick another number between 1 and 9 that has some significance for you and comment on whether the attributes associated with that number seem to have some special significance for you.” Chart One Chart Two I N S T R U C T I O N S: 1) Role play the lesson (2 marks) 2) Do the calculations required to determine what number corresponds with your surname and then locate the information that corresponds to your number on page 8 or 9 of the textbook. Ai was feeling rather light-headed today. She wasn't feeling well again, yet, she wanted to attend classes more than anything, and that's why she decided to prepare herself for the day. At least she managed to do it without passing out, and she was extremely grateful for that. The young Hufflepuff knew that she had been missing too many lessons, and she knew that she couldn't afford to miss more. She knew that she had to attend make-up classes sooner or later, but right now, she had to focus on the subjects she can manage to attend. Ai entered Arithmancy class for the day with her Head of House. And she was extremely thankful to the gods that the lesson they were having a familiar lesson for the day, since it was at least the same as their lesson last week. Only, this time, she was going to be using the Pythagorean System on her last name, Edogawa. She wondered what she would be getting this time around as last time she got the number one, and some of the descriptions there were indeed appropriate for her. As soon as, class was done, despite her dizziness, Ai began to work on her homework excitedly, before heading back to her dormitory for some rest. Raziel Kim woke up with a start during that day. He wasn't feeling particularly well considering how it was almost that time of the month again. He would have wanted to stay on his bed much longer and just drift off to sleep without worrying about anything else. But he knew that life wasn't that easy and that he had to face the reality. Lazily dragging himself off his bed, the Ravenclaw began changing into his uniform. Today, he was to begin his daily routine again, eat, attend classes, and sleep. It wasn't like he was complaining though, he was perfectly fine with the way things are going. After he was done making sure that all his things were carefully placed on his bag, the boy began his way down his class. Arithmancy. It was only a few floors down but then again, the boy wasn't really fond of physical activities. The Ravenclaw house provides a good place for viewing the majestic and beautiful scenery surrounding the school, but it wasn't really that helpful especially if one is already late for his class. Being late didn't really prevented the pale boy from stopping to talk with the portraits there nor did it stop him from enjoying his chocolates, thus, it was only after almost the entire class had been present did the Ravenclaw arrived at his class. He wasn't usually late though as he would often make sure that he's one of the early ones to avoid attention, this time, it's different. Raziel tried to enter the room as quietly as he could and quickly proceeded to his seat at the left side of the room, as far away from the front as possible. It wasn't like he didn't like his professor. In fact, he was pretty fond of her. He was particularly fond of her name. Snow, it reminded him of his home. For this class, they were to do the same thing that they did for the previous one, the only difference was that they were to be using the pythagorean system to try to give meaning to their surnames. Raziel wasn't sure why he took the class at first, but somehow, he was beginning to find it quite interesting. Taking out his quill, ink and parchment, the Ravenclaw began doing the calculation that they were required to do.
Reflection The boy read the essay that he had written once again. It was one o the things that he liked about arithmancy, he didn't need to speak much. All he needed to do was express his thoughts into writing. He, after all, was not really a fan of talking. After he was done, the boy carefully put his things back into his bag. He had been reprimanded by his mother in one of her letters about him being too careless with his things, and as such, he made sure to take care of them this time. |
