Professor Davershire stook at the front of the classroom next to her desk watching as the students filed into the room. She smiled as she saw all of the first years, their faces showing how excited they were to learn, or in turn, how annoyed they were to be in class. Once everyone was seated, she moved forwards, greeting them with a smile. "Hello! Welcome first years! This is Transfiguration. I hope you all are in the right classroom." She looked about the room, making sure no one stood to leave. "My name is Professor Ava Davershire and I will, hopefully, successfully guide you through the world of Transfiguration. Throughout your first year, we are going to cover Inanimate to Inanimate transfiguration; this kind of transfiguration can only be used to make something of equal size, like a needle to a match, for example. You will soon see I believe in hands on leaning, so please make sure you bring your wand to every lesson." She looked around the class and noticed a few students who look sheepishly down. "A little about myself; I attended Hogwarts here, and was in Gryffindor. I excelled in transfiguration, but used to home school my daughter. Eventually we decided to let her come here, and I followed, taking up a role in the class I loved so much. I have two children both of which has graduated from here." she said smiling at them all. She loved Riley and Braxton dearly. "I am also a registered animagus, which you will learn more details about as your studies progress. But basically, I am able to transfigure myself into an animal at will." Suddenly, Professor Davershire turned into a Golden Retriever with big blue eyes, that matched her own. She jumped up on the desk and sat at the edge, looking at everyone, then just as quickly, turned back into herself, still sitting on the desk. "Okay, to get started. Transfiguration is not just the name of changing one object into another. You must have an idea about all types of transfiguration before you actually learn them," she said with a flick of her wand at the blackboard. The following was now written there:
"First off, I want to also give you some vocabulary. Inanimate means that the object is not alive. Animate, well, is something that is alive. You are all here, and most of you seem to be animate today, which is a good thing. Some of you could be a bit more animate though." Professor Davershire chuckled as she walked about, tapping on a desk or two of those in the back who seemed to be dosing off. "Let's jump right in and discuss the first four types of Transfiguration. Inanimate to Inanimate simply changes one object that is not alive into another object that is not alive. Most of the time, these are easiest to perform. Inanimate objects will stay put while you cast your spell, leaving you to worry only about changing shape, color, size, and things of that nature," Professor Davershire flicked her wand at a vase on the table that changed into a teacup. "The second type of transfiguration is Inanimate to Animate." Ava flicked her wand again, this time at her chair. It shook a few times, then it started shrinking while changing its shape at the same time. Suddenly, everyone saw a fluffy little kitten that walked around the class, mewing softly, before it finally cuddled against the feet of one of the students. "It wasn't supposed to do that," Professor Davershire said with a laugh, leaving it at the student's feet. "Inanimate to Animate Transfiguration changes one nonliving object into one living object. They are tricky to pull off, since you must essentially give life to something that would ordinarily not have it. The third type," she turned toward the class and continued, "Animate to Inanimate, performs in the opposite manner of the Inanimate to Animate ones. You will use these spells to turn something that moves and breathes into something that is no longer technically alive," she said. "The fourth type of transfiguration is Animate to Animate Transfiguration. This is one of the most difficult types of transfiguration. This transfiguration changes one animate, alive, living object into another animate, alive, living object. Since we don't have a live object here for me to use to demonstrate, I will show you these transfigurations some other time. So we end our lesson here today. And now, like a terrible Professor, you have homework on your first day," Professor Davershire said grinning and waved her wand at the board, making the homework appear. Homework: RP the lesson. Extra Credit: Choose one of the types of transfiguration and write about either a real myth or a legend where one thing was transformed into another (or you can make a story up.) |

Before coming to Hogwarts, the colour-blind Gryffindor had always thought that a person could learn both charms and transfiguration in the same class. He had always believed that they were really the exact same. That they were just two sides of the one overall topic. His mama may have gone to a magical school, but both her and her brother had been fairly vague to him the different parts of magic that he would now be learning about. For one, Tranfiguration and charms had always felt like they could be taught by the same person, that one could be studied without the other. How was the young boy meant to know that really the two subjects were like biology and physics, if you wanted to put it into muggle terms. The young boy had never been told, never been give any instruction he had just been up to his own devices to try to see what subject meant what. Now he knew better. Which was fairly easy for him to say, as he had been reading up on both subjects. He knew that he had a fairly information heavy class the next day following transfiguration, but the young boy hadn't ever thought that he would stay up too late. However, once he gotten his nose into the transfiguration book there had been little to get him out of it. He had sat with both books out in front of him, reading a chapter from one, making notes and comparing it to the other. He had learned a lot about transfiguration in that one night. He had learned a lot about charms in that one night. Though it wouldn't exactly fair well for him the next day. He was an Archer in many ways, the eyes, the sight and his determination. He had always been told that he came from a line of strong, and stubborn men. It appeared that his own stubbornness translate more into not waiting to be the guy who knew nothing. That paired with his need to not be at a disadvantage because of his eye sight was pretty much why he had spent so much more time reading the books they had been given rather than reading books with characters and plot. While he loved those books as much, he had to realise that it would be better for him there and then to be reading about what he needed to, or was going to be learning about. Tybalt Archer didn't want to not do well. He wanted to do well, and in turn gain house points that would make him feel like he belonged to Gryffindor a lot more than he did. Because currently, he felt like he was anything but a Gryffindor. For which he blamed a certain Slytherin because it really was her fault that he was currently feeling so small. The bruise on his cheek was almost completely gone. It had almost completely vanished, well, he could barely see it, it was slightly more visible to those around him, but since he couldn't see it, it put him a lot more at ease. The transfiguration class was one they had to share with the Slytherin's, something he wasn't looking forward to. How could he. He maybe had one male friend from that house, and then there was that girl. The girl he really, really disliked. Who pretty much just scared him. She made him really not feel very Gryffindor. Which wasn't too hard, since he really didn't feel like a Gryffindor in the first place. He was of the belief that he really didn't belong in the house of the most noble of people. He didn't think he was worthy of that house, but he couldn't switch. He would be allowed to, and he was sure that, it would make him look more like a coward if he did. Running away from something wouldn't end well at all. What would his parents say, what would the people he'd met that he almost counted as friends think. He could just throw that away because he wasn't sure if he belonged in the house. He would work, just to try and fit in, he owed that much. That morning however, the young colour-blind Gryffindor was not feeling great. He'd barely slept, and he'd been reading so much he had forgotten to eat. This wasn't a great start to a day he had been studying for. Tybalt lay in his bed, curled up in a ball, staring out into the darkness. He sighed slightly, not matter how unwell he was maybe feeling, he was going to need to get up and out of bed. After all he couldn't just lie there all day. All the work he had put in the night before would go down the drain, and that wasn't something that Tybalt wanted to do. He just knew that no matter how bad he felt he was dragging himself to that class. So, very slowly the young boy put his feet on the cold floor and sat up. He stretched as he sat on the bed, before pushing himself out of it, and getting up. He was a little unsteady to begin with, but very quickly settled himself. He got out his uniform and headed straight for the shower. Taking with him, his glasses rather than his contacts. The boy had been wearing contacts most of the time he had been studying, so a lot longer than he was meant to have. Tybalt knew that really he could just put his contacts back in, but he wanted to give his eyes a break. Which was why, despite him really not wanting to have to wear glasses, he was going to. The shower he had, like on all mornings was quick. He got dressed quickly, and then headed back into the main dorm room. He tidied away his clothes from that night, and then put on his shoes. He pushed up the glasses before tying each of the laces. This was going to be an annoying day for him to have to wear glasses. But, he was going to have to. Tybalt swung his bag over his shoulder as he entered the room. It had fallen to the floor when he he had misjudged the step and almost tripped. His eye sight really wasn't the greatest. He did need his glasses, but even with them on, the young gryffindor couldn't see much at all. Everything was a lot clearer, but depending on the light, depended on how much he could see. He entered the room, and took a seat up the back. He was one of the first to arrive, for which he was grateful for. He didn't have to walk past a certain Slytherin girl who didn't like him, and whom he also did not like. Not in the slightest. This would be a long class if she chose to sit next to him. He was more desperate for some other Gryffindor, even one he didn't know to come sit with him. He would prefer it to the girl. He took out his transfiguration book, which already looked well read and placed it on the table. Inside, he had pretty much written on any bit of the paper that didn't already have writing on, little comments. Things that sounded cool or tricky. It sounded pretty interesting, and he was pretty excited for what they would actually be learning in this class. Soon the rest of the students arrived, and the professor began her lesson. He realised then, that this was no mere professor, but in fact they were going to be taught by the headmistress, which was then a class that he really wanted to do well in. She had all the power. He had nothing. It wouldn't end well if he got on the wrong side of her. Surprisingly he found her a lot warmer than some of the other professors. Well all of the ones they'd had so far. Tybalt looked at her as she spoke about herself. She had two children, both of which had already graduated from this school. He wondered how old this woman was, to already have two graduated kids. It wasn't something that he would think more on, but it made him curious. What she said next, interested him a lot. In his reading, they had briefly mentioned animagus. He had no idea what it actually meant, instead he was left wondering. The professor however cleared the air pretty quickly. When she transformed, in front of their eyes into a dog, and then, back into a human. Then the lesson itself could begin. Thought Tybalt thought that they should all just be learning how to do what she had done. But he was well aware that to begin with they were going to need to learn the basics, which were then written on the board, well the different types of transfigurations that they would be learning about. He took his quill and parchment and wrote them down. Though he did actually already know about them, because he had read all about it. This was quickly followed by the professor beginning demonstrations on four of the seven things written on the board. It would be hard to tell since he was pretty much just remember most of what they did from memory. He hadn't however seen any of the spells in practice, so this was something that was proving very interesting to the boy. And it was also the first class that did not solely center around introductions. Which got pretty boring after the first. The young Archer smiled slightly as the cat that appeared at the front of the room and cuddled the feet of some student. Whom he was glad it wasn't him. However, this was the last of the demonstrations and the professor finished up with the last two types and finishing the lesson right there. Giving an odd homework task for the class to complete. He didn't know many myths or legends. He had never paid much attention to them, as he was much more of a facts kind of guy. However, he knew that the thing about legends was that he could just make something up. He could make something up that she would really ever know wasn't at all true. After all that's what he believed most legends to be. Tybalt packed away his things and left for the great hall. He knew enough about transfiguration to not have to work in the library and the boy was feeling pretty hungry. He new that it would be a lot better if he worked on it after he'd had something to eat. In the end the assignment didn't take too long. He was done before dinner that evening. So, he was able to hand it in at a very reasonable time. For which he was happy. It was definitely a good thing. Tranfiguration had proved to be a lot more fun that he'd ever thought it would be. |

Indiana left the Gryffindor dormitories early in the morning. She headed down to the Great Hall and filled herself up with Breakfast. Looking to her daily schedule she realized Transfiguration was first. This did not excite her at all. Sure the Headmistress would be the one teaching them which was pretty cool. However she did not want to practice magic on animals. Her older sister told her about the course and how in later years they would transform animals into other things or completely make them into nothing. Indiana was upset about this, it did not sound like a fun thing to ever do. But she had to give the class a chance. Walking into the classroom she sat down next to her friend Tybalt glad he was in the class as well. He was already becoming her best friend and she enjoyed her time with him. After the day when he had been bullied by some Slytherin girl she wanted to always be there to protect him. It wasn't her job but she felt like she should do it. The class today was with Slytherins and she wished the girl she had seen sneering at the retreating figure of Tybalt would not come to class. Once the class was filled up the teacher began the lesson. Pulling out a paper she began to doodle on it waiting for something important to write down. The class ended after the teacher went over most of the things she had written on the board. Indiana figured perhaps she just forgot about the others.

Sergei Zhefarovich entered the Transfiguration classroom with mild disgust on his face before it melted into something that was rather vague. He sat down in the back of classroom. There were nothing but Gryffindors in here, but he had nothing against them at all. Sergei looked up with his silvery eyes before he wondered who all would come along. He hoped that this class would go by really fast because he didn't want to have to see much of the professor. She was the Headmistress, but it was hard to take her seriously. Then again, he couldn't take any professor seriously except for his Head of House, just because he was related to him. Once everyone else arrived to the classroom, the class began with the woman speaking, and he looked up at her with his silvery eyes. Her name was Professor Davershire, and he heard that they were going to be going over Inanimate to Inanimate Transfiguration all year. The Headmistress decided to tell a bit about herself, including the fact that she had two children. She didn't look that old, but then again neither did his dad. Though it seemed like they were all Gryffindors, which was somewhat boring. Apparently she was an Animagus too, and turned into a dog in front of them before turning back into a person. There were the types of Transfiguration written on the board, and he got out his notes and copied them down. This year was going to be rather boring, he could tell. He wrote down every type of Transfiguration and what they were. It was rather easy anyway. Though apparently there was going to be something else, homework. Sergei rolled his eyes to that because he didn't want to do homework. Regardless, he was going to write it down in case he did it. Then the class was dismissed, and he went to leave as well. He didn't have any other reason to be in the classroom anymore. |

Kyle yawned widely as he sat down at the gryffindor house table for breakfast.waking up early in the morning had never been something he was good at but he knew that the sooner he got used to it,the better. He pulled his timetable out of his bag and saw that today he had Transfiguration as the first lesson of the day.Not quite sure whether to be excited or intimidated about the first lesson of Transfiguration,he decided to forget about the lesson and concentrate on having a good breakfast that would keep him going all day. Kyle usually liked to take a light lunch because it made him feel sleepy in the lazy afternoons and he didn't want to doze off in any of his classes. He was quite impressed by the variety that the hogwarts meals offered. There had always been plenty of variety at home since they had four cooks, who could cook Thai,Chinese,Indian,Lebanese,Italian,Spanish and French between them, not to mention the traditional food of the English. But Kyle hadn't expected the food at Hogwarts to almost reach the standards of his own gourmet chefs.Well his mother had told him how good the food was but then again his mother had lived in Canada with his grandma before she came to Hogwarts and surely she hadn't tasted as many exotic dishes as he had.So he had underestimated this information. But now he saw that he was clearly wrong.Well then its not my fault if I gain a kilo or two this year he thought to himself chuckling. After breakfast he headed of in the direction that had been pointed out to him earlier by a prefect when he had told him that he had no idea where the transfiguration classroom was.It took him almost ten minutes to climb all the stairs up to the fifth floor, especially since he had just eaten.Man! I'm not sure if I will gain or loose a kilo. Finally he made it to the classroom where the students had gathered. He took a seat in the third row not wanting to be too close or too far from the Professor. They greeted the Professor and she greeted them back with a smile. She was also the headmistress of Hogwarts. She introduced herself and gave them a bit of her background story and then gave them a small intro on transfiguration and what they would be learning that year.Kyle was impressed by the thoughts of Inanimate to Animate Transformation but the next type,Animate to Inanimate clearly wasn't something he would be excited about. He took short notes on what she said because he wasn't good at memorizing stuff.
Kyle stopped taking notes to watch the Proffesor do some awesome transfiguration and turn a chair into a cat.And it was a cute cat.
He wrote down what they had to do for homework and then as the class was dismissed he put his quill, ink and parchment back in his bag and walked out with the rest of the class thinking that this was going to be the hardest subject of all.

Nikandros Matthias walked into the Transfiguration classroom to see none other than the Headmistress herself in the class. He looked up at her before he snorted and he went over to his seat. He never liked the idea of Transfiguration and thought that the subject was rather boring and mediocre. However he would not let that bother him that much. It was just another class, that was all it was. He was seated soon enough, before looking around to see if he knew anyone here yet, but he saw that he didn't. Well, he didn't really look around with his amber eyes. It was not like he cared much anyway. Soon enough, everyone was in the class, and they were greeted with happiness and such. The Headmistress's name was Professor Davershire, and she was going to guide them through the art of Transfiguration. And this year, they were going to be covering Inanimate to Inanimate Transfiguration. That was something that he would not mind, but he thought that it was pointless. Though he thought that the subject was pointless, at least the professor was very nice to look at. And the woman said that she was an animagus, then she turned into a dog before them. Nikandros had some naughty thoughts coming into his mind, and a smirk crossed his lips. Nikandros was not the type to take notes though, so alas he did not. He listened to how Inanimate meant that the object was not alive, and she demonstrated. And then she made a chair turn into a kitten, before he raised an eyebrow and wondered what it was supposed to do in the end. Though he could not wait for the fourth type, to turn one animal into another. He wanted to turn his pet into a mighty tiger. That would be just awesome! Though he did not know it did not work like that. They were issued homework, but he doubted that he would bother with it. Nikandros packed his things, and he left the classroom for the day. |

Ruby Fairleigh entered the Transfiguration class, excited to finally start what seemed like the most interesting lesson on her schedule this semester. Turning objects into something else sounded hard, but it would be so fun to do. She took a seat and wished the rest of the class would turn up soon so the lesson could start. While she waited, Ruby eyed Professor Davershire, who was not only be her Transfiguration professor but was the headmistress of the whole school. She was a bit intimidated by that to be honest, but it didn't dampen her enthusiasm for the subject. Besides, Professor Davershire looked quite friendly. Soon the other students had arrived and the lesson began. Ruby started to take notes, and her writing soon turned from her normal handwriting into a cursive scrawl that was hardly decipherable. She wanted to get down every word the professor said, and that meant scribbling - fast. It's okay, I'll just copy it out nicely later. She was given a brief respite when the professor told them a little about herself and her children, and then demonstrated her ability to transform into a Golden Retriever. Ruby was delighted, she'd never seen an Animagus transform before. It was something she thought she might want to do herself later. Professor Davershire then proceeded to explain about the types of Transfiguration, while Ruby swiftly scratched away with her quill. When the professor changed a chair into a kitten, she resisted the urge to jump up and seize it to look for signs of its previous form. This is so exciting! She continued to write throughout the rest of the lesson, earning herself a rather impressive cramp in her left hand. She wrote down the homework as well, pleased to have a genuine reason to exercise her creativity. As she left the classroom, Ruby knew that this was going to be her favourite subject. Transfiguration was a class that he found he shared with the Gryffindors again. Just like the first class of the term. Though this fact didn't annoy him. He didn't care. He was the kind of person who just did not care about which house people were in he was much more the kind of guy who wanted to turn up to lessons and just get it over and done with. It was why he waited until the last possible moment to actually go to the classroom. It was why despite it being very close to the start of class the young slytherin was sitting in the Great Hall, eating an apple. He had as ever dressed in his kind of casual school look. Or that was what his mother called it. It was the same uniform, but the boy never wore the robes, he just wore the trousers, the shirt and the tie. Everything was very relaxed for him. He didn't see the point in putting on too many clothes, since it brought him no good. It made him warm, and he found school uniforms uncomfortable anyway, so he tried to bother as little with them as it was possible for him to do. He knew that no matter how hard he tried he would never really be able to wear it all. He was just going to be the guy who wore it all every so often. His mother would've been proud of this attitude. She believed above all else, style and looking good was important. The blonde disagreed on the part that it was important. He just liked being comfortable. However as comfortable as he was sitting at the table, he knew he had to go to class. So reluntantly he stood up and left the hall, wiping his hands on his trousers, since he'd have no time to actually go wash them. If he did that, then he would be late for class, and his father would not be happy with that. While Wes didn't really care, he at least wanted to be there for the class. He hadn't gotten up at this hour to then not bother with the class. The class itself wasn't busy. He found himself a seat and paid attention to the board. The lesson started pretty quickly. A formal introduction. He knew that this was the headmistress. That was pretty odd to him. He knew that it was a class he'd have to at least pay a bit of attention in. He didn't want to get pulled up for slacking. He couldn't be bothered with the backlash that would create for a guy in his position. Although, the class was starting off a lot quicker than the others, he was still feeling pretty bored by it all. He just sighed to himself as the professor had things written on the board. Maybe he shouldn't have bothered going at all. This all seemed very pointless. He however watched in amazement as the professor then became a cat. That wasn't something you'd see every day, or really at all. He looked at the cat, who then went back to being the professor. This was all very boring, but that seemed pretty interesting. Though the boy was no idiot he very much realised to get to that point, it meant paying attention in this class. That seemed like a lot of written work would be required. However, that being said, the professor finished up. Talking about the last of the points. Before issuing an odd homework task. The Slytherin wondered what the actual point of that would be. Why would they need to do something like that. It seemed so very pointless. He couldn't understand the educational value of a homework task like that. So instead of stressing over it, the boy just decided he wouldn't bother doing it at all. It wouldn't matter, not this early on in the year. |

Ashleigh Thorn walked into the classroom and sat down in the nearest empty seat. She was a little tired, after she'd stayed up most of the night making sure all of her class notes were written out neatly and tidily filed away in their respective places. She knew it was a pointless thing to do because mainly all the notes so far had just been rules, rules that were all basically the same. But she couldn't help herself. She rubbed a hand across her eyes and tried to focus on the front of the classroom. She knew that her professor for Transfiguration was also the headmistress and she was curious to see how Professor Davershire would treat the students. In a very friendly way, it seemed. She told them about her family, and then changed into a dog for them, giving them an example of an Animagus. Ash lifted her eyebrows at that, she hadn't seen an Animagus before. But the professor didn't linger on herself and instead quickly moved to begin teaching the lesson. And it was an actual lesson this time, not the same boring rules the first years had been going over all week. Well, finally. I'm glad we finally get to start learning something. Ash happily jotted down the notes on the different types of transfiguration, pausing to watch the professor demonstrate each type. When the chair was changed into a kitten, she watched jealously as the creature curled itself up at another student's feet. She'd just bought her own cat, her first cat, a British Shorthair named Amira, whom she loved dearly. But Ash loved all cats and wished the kitten had chosen her to sit with. She'd already almost forgotten it had just been a chair. She resumed writing the notes, and then once the homework was assigned she read over it, a tiny frown appearing on her face. She wasn't exactly sure how beneficial it was, particularly as she was pretty sure every student now knew the difference between the transfiguration types. Well, they should. It's not like it's hard. She would still do it, though. Homework was homework, and she didn't particularly want to draw the special attention of the headmistress. Ash packed up her things and left the classroom as soon as they were dismissed. She had work to do. Notes Homework

Her messenger bag dragging a little on the floor behind her, Delancey marched into the Transfiguration classroom. She sat in a chair in the back in a huff and pulled the bag next to her. Delancey liked the back of the room because she didn't wanna queue up to leave and liked the freedom to bolt out when the lesson was over. Bending down, hanging half off the chair, she pulled out a piece of parchment, her quill, and a small pot of ink. If the other classes were any indication it had been pointless to bring either her book or her wand today, but she wanted to come prepared and she had everything with her. She just wasn't going to take the other stuff out unless she had to. The other classes had all been about taking notes, not actually seeing or doing magic, and she didn't expect this one to be any different. But when Professor Davershire transfigured herself into a dog right there in the room, Delancey gasped and her eyes grew wide with excitement. I wanna do that! she thought, her excitement for the subject growing immensely. Her attention captured like nothing that had come before, she took notes furiously as the teacher talked, her eyes wandering repeatedly to the adorable little kitten that she wanted to cuddle and kiss forever.
When the bell rang, Delancey went up to the teacher, annoyed at having to fight the crowd trying to move in the other direction, but giggling a little as she started treating it like a game, trying to find the fastest way through the maze of kids. "Professor Davershire, what's gonna happen to the kitten? I mean, if she needs a home, I'd love to take care of her!" she said, her blue-green eyes wide, hopeful and pleading. Delancey may have some issues with owning animals, but she also knew this animal had a different origin and didn't have a chance to be taught survival from its mom. But she also knew there was a chance the kitten would be made back into a chair, which broke her heart a little, the thought of life being snuffed out, even if it was made with magic. Extra Credit The little kitten will become a chair again; which is okay, it knows how to be that. Edited by Professor Ava Davershire, Aug 24 2012, 01:53 AM.

Rowley was humming happily to herself as she slipped into the classroom, one of the first to arrive, and chose a desk in the front row. She was easing in to lessons nicely and had enjoyed her first few thoroughly, so was looking forward to Transfiguration. She knew they wouldn't be doing much as it was their first lesson, as with all the other classes it would most likely be the going over of rules and guidelines and an introduction to the subject, but today that suited her nicely as she knew pretty much squat all about Transfiguration. She noticed that there Professor, sat behind her desk waiting for the class to fill, was also the Headmistress, or deputy Headmistress, she was sure her correct title was. Rowley gave her a bright smile as she began unpacking her writing equipment before stowing her satchel underneath her desk. Once everyone appeared to be present, the Headmistress began, introducing herself as Professor Davershire and telling them all a little about herself and how she'd come to teaching her favourite subject at Hogwarts New Zealand. Rowley couldn't help but smile, her brown eyes full of interest, she seemed like such a nice, power woman. It was a nice change, all of her Professors so far had been men. Her eyes widened in respected admirance as there Professor transformed herself into a Labrador without so much as a flick of her wand, before returning to her usual form. An animagus, Rowley thought, that looks very fun. She made a mental note to look into this later on. Professor Davershire waved her wand and all of the different forms of Transfiguration appeared on the blackboard. There were so many, this year they would be focusing solely on inanimate to inanimate Transfiguration. Turning inanimate objects into similar inanimate objects. Inanimate means non living.. ? Rowley thought to herself, before the teacher answered and confirmed this aloud. Nice, she thought, dipping her fluffy black quill into her current favourite green ink, and starting to take notes as the Professor began explaining.
This left Rowley wondering wether turning an animate object into an inanimate object would in a way kill it, take its life. Like if you were to turn a person into a teapot, would that person still be alive within the teapot? She decided she would need to ask the Professor this at a later time. Sitting her quill down, Rowley returned her attention to Professor Davershire as she concluded the lesson and assigned them some light homework. Packing up her things, she filed out of the classroom along with the others, headed to her common room. She had no more classes that day, and used her free time before lunch to complete her homework, returning to the empty classroom within the hour to leave it atop the professors desk.

Kovu stepped into the transfiguration classroom, thankful that he wasn't one of the first ones there this time, like he had been in all his other classes. He hadn't meant to appear so eager, he had just not wanted to look stupid by being late. He also knew that he had to perform well at Hogwarts. He had to get good grades. He knew he could do it, he wasn't an idiot, but he could also be quite lazy, so he would try his hardest not to let his laziness set him back. Kovu took a seat in the middle of the class, not too far forward and not lurking at the back. He glanced around, recognising familiar faces from some of his other classes earlier in the week. He took out his parchment, quill and ink and placed them on the desk in front of him. All his other classes had involved note-taking for the first lesson and Kovu didn't think this class would be much different. As the lesson begun, Kovu decided the professor was nice enough. She didn't seem incredibly stern and her approach to hands-on learning pleased Kovu greatly. He definitely learnt things easier by doing. He supposed a lot of people did, which is why he couldn't understand professors that made them sit and take notes all lesson. Kovu glanced around wondering if anyone actually had forgotten to bring their wand to class. Kovu took his wand everywhere. He kept it in the inside pocket of his robe, up his sleeve or in the back pocket of his jeans. He didn't want to leave it anywhere that wasn't safely near him. Picking up his quill, Kovu took down the notes from the board, adding small amounts of information next to the titles as the professor explained them. He decided he would like transfiguration, maybe one day he might even become an animagus. It would be a long time before that happened though, Kovu assumed it would be a very difficult process. Soon enough the lesson came to a close and Kovu packed up his things. They had some extra credit homework that Kovu decided he would do later, but once getting to his common room, he lost a bit of interest. It was only extra credit after all, he wasn't losing marks by not doing it, right? |

Hayley didn't really know what to expect from this class. It was true, she was a mixed blood and grew up in a magical family, but that didn't mean she knew the ins and outs of magical transformation. None of her parents were ever into transformations anyway. Nor was she really, she was only here because she needed it to become an invisibility task force official. That was her dream job. That was what she wanted. To join the ministry. Like her mother. Like her father. It was what she wanted. And it was what she wanted to get. Hopefully. Hayley left her room behind a group of Slytherin boys. She had been following this same group to class. She carried a messenger bag now, having dug it from the bottom of her suitcase, a gift from her mother. She found it a peculiar thing, it seemed something had been torn off of it. it didn't really matter to her, since it was a bag that she could use to put her parchment, ink, and other supplies in. She was grateful for that, since the whole first part of the week she had been running around with supplies in her hands. Hayley arrived slightly early to class for once. She took a seat to the left of the rows, and then set her things out on her desk. Then she looked up at the Professor and began to listen to her. Hayley jumped slightly when the Professor changed herself into a dog; a very cute one. Hayley didn't like dogs, but she could appreciate cute ones when she saw them. Maybe this class wouldn't be so bad. She smiled, now eager to take notes and learn how to do what she did. She smiled at the assignment. Though magic in the community was not allowed, fairy-tales were often told, sometimes even stories of what would happen if you weren't a good boy or girl. That was the one Hayley used.

Kil had been attending an awful lot of classes lately and it sure was unbelievable for him. Well, considering how much of a lazyhead he was. He didn't really have much of a choice since he didn't want to be killed for being kicked out of school or getting a lot of failing grades. Nope, he sure didn't want that to happen. He shot his things into his backpack and readied himself for class. After a while, he grabbed his backpack and went out of the room straight for Transfiguration Class. Transfiguration was new to him, or he could say that magic was new to him so he really didn't know anything about it. He just took his seat and listened to the professor who introduced herself as Professor Davershire, the same professor who was in the Sorting Ceremony. But Kil didn't mind at all. He just continued to listen to the lecture which wasn't too much fun. He wasn't really willing to take notes and he sure was glad that what the professor was saying stayed in his mind. It was not long before homework was given, and Kil was not willing to do that either. He figured that he would just disregard it for now and make up for it during the next lesson. With a cold look on his face, he left the class without a word. |

Liam walked into Transfiguration. On time. That was good for Liam, he was often late for things. He wasn't particularly excited about this class, and he was a bit scared, because the Headmaster would be teaching them. He hoped he wouldn't have to get to know her too well. His Grandmother was convinced he'd be in to her office every week for some mischief. He was hoping desperately that this wouldn't prove true. He took a seat near the middle, and began writing. It didn't seem too complicated, though that'd probably prove false after a few lessons. He watched her demonstration, slightly more interested now, and he laughed at the kitten. It was a cute little thing, though he'd always preferred dogs. That got him thinking of Rhoda, his sheltie, who was probably missing him back home. At this time of day, he'd usually have been exercising Obi-Wan, he hoped Father was taking good care of him. He wrote down the homework and smiled as he left. He knew exactly what he'd write about.
