Takuya walked into the class, as he waited for his first years to arrive. He greeted the class, considering he was rather late, "Morning children." The last word softened by each syllable. He leaned against his desk, and smirked, "You learned the basic of your tools, and today, youÂ’ll use them." He nodded at the blackboard behind him and a picture of a pumpkin appeared. "You’ll plant pumpkins. And then present them for the house elves." Takuya glanced outside and prepared for the lecture, "The Pumpkin is believed to have originated in North America, where the Native Americans dried strips of Pumpkin and wove them into mats. The original name was Pepon, which was Greek for large melon. Through many different translations, it then became known as Pumpkin." The picture vanished. "The Pumpkin is widely known for being served at feasts as Pumpkin Pie, but itÂ’s notoriety comes from its established tradition at Halloween." Takuya waved his hand and the board retreated. "If you didn't take notes, then what I have said will be on the exams later on and will affect your grade. Now, we are going to go outside and plant the pumpkins. You may wear gloves. It is optional." Takuya slipped on his leather black gloves. Takuya walked to the doors and opened them. He ordered quite loudly, smirking after seeing a few students jump. "Grab your tools and follow me to the pumpkin patch." Takuya walked outside into the sun, hearing the students follow. His tools, a spade, a watering can, and a rake were waiting for him at his section. Takuya stopped at the bottom of the hill. His eyes gazed over the flat expanse of land awaited them. The dirt looked ripe and eager for planting. It was in the shape of a huge rectangle. Takuya pulled a bag of Pumpkins seeds from the inside of his robe. He gave them each a seed for their own use. "Be sure your soil is tilled, or rather soft, always. I have tilled the soil already, since we havenÂ’t enough time. Your pumpkins are to be in the ground and ready to grow by the end of todayÂ’s lesson." Takuya flicked out his wand, "Watch what I do using magic. You will be doing this in regular labor." A smile formed on his face. His spade hovered in the air. "Get down on your knees, since its easier to reach the dirt. Take your spade and dig a small hole in the ground and drop the seed into the hole." His spade did exactly that, and Takuya dropped the seed into the hole. "Refill the hole.” As his did. “Pat the soil lightly and donÂ’t compact it." His spade gently patted the ground. "Now, give it a generous amount of water.” His watering can poured water over the dirt. "Now, do exactly as I did." After everyone was finished, Takuya smiled, "Now, for the spell. We will be harvesting them soon anyway. And the pumpkins will need help. Wands out." Takuya held his wand straight up and stated clearly, "Sementis medicates." He then waved his wand in a loop over his planted pumpkin seed. The sprout emerged from the ground, thickened into a vine, twining and extending its vine, waiting for the others to grow. A small bud flowered, then bloomed a yellow before the petals fell away and a small, light colored melon clinging to the vine. Takuya ordered authoritatively, "Practice the words and IÂ’ll make sure you have the pronunciation is correct." He repeated it, and made them say it as well, and then practiced the wand movement. "Now, try it." Once everyone were finished, he pointed to the greenhouse. "Put away your things and tonight, I want you all to research the pumpkin and write another essay upon what you have learned upon your research. You may leave once everything is put away." Homework: RP todayÂ’s lesson. For an extra point, include a picture of a pumpkin. |
