Lesson Three: [justify] Professor Effie Snow sat at her large oak desk, his soft gaze settled upon the large stack of papers she really needed to grade and sort through. Effie knew she needed to stop procrastinating and actually get around to making the pile of papers smaller but grading was so boring. The Hufflepuff Head of House considered it to be the equivalent of homework and classwork that the students seemed to hate so much. They were slowly piling their way into the classroom and she was left sitting there looking down at the pile still wishing that it would sort itself. With a soft sigh she figured she might as well forget about it now, but it would still be there later. That was the annoying part about it. Professor Snow noted that the time had come to begin today's lesson and she gracefully rose from her comfortable chair and moved in front of the large oak desk, leaning against it as the lecture began. "This lesson is devoted to the vibration held within the vowels of your name. We call this component of our core the Heart's Desire. By understanding what lies within this vibration, you will gain a deeper connection to the part of yourself that holds passion and desire. You will feel your greatest motivations because the Heart's Desire connects you to that which is most dear to your heart." Professor Effie stated softly. For some reason she always felt like she was trying to explain the existence of time or something confusing. Her students seemed to understand what she was saying and because of that she could not be more proud of them. Clearing her throat she continued softly. "We place a great deal of emphasis on logic in our culture. As a result, the Heart's Desire often becomes the part of us that we pay the least attention and this is a grave error." Professor allowed for a brief pause before continuing, feeling it imperative to emphasize her next point so the students could let it sink in fully. She hoped they understood the lesson and what she wanted from them. Effie felt like she would be a very poor teacher if she didn't help the students try to understand in any way that they could. A warm smile formed it's way onto her soft features. "By suppressing this part of ourselves, we often spend a lifetime doing things to just get by without knowing what we really want and what is truly passionate for us. We will be determining your Heart’s Desire next week. For this week, I want you to reflect upon those things which you are passionate about." Professor Snow closed the lecture with rare emotion, as if she had become entranced by the subject matter itself. Was it weird that she found there to be something almost passionate Arithmancy and how deep it was. "It is the passion that resides within the Heart’s Desire that is the key to directing our purpose and ensuring our success. It is what you must feel, honor, and embrace in directing your other core parts. Class dismissed!" Effie waved the class off. She hoped to see some really interesting things the students were passionate about. Maybe next class she would share an essay of her own to them. Hazel Maye walked into the Arithmancy classroom again. She sat once again at her usual seat, an almost dreamy look to her features. She felt as if she had been walking on air the past few days and didn’t think she would be coming down any time soon. The second semester was proving difficult with the amount of lessons she had but having met Sammy made up for it all. She was well aware that she must not interfere with his own studying for his OWLs but found every moment away from him almost unbearable. It just felt as if they had wasted so much valuable time that could have been spent together. She greeted the professor and once the rest of the class had taken their seats, Hazel Maye removed her writing tools to take notes. The class was about the vibrations of the vowels in their names, biting her lip she realized there was simply way too many vowels in hers and wondered what this would mean in relation to her heart's desire. The professor seemed truly passionate herself about this particular class and she wondered if part of her own heart's desire was something as simple as arithmancy. The class soon drew to a close and Hazel Maye bid farewell to her classmates as she left for the library to do her assignment and hopefully to meet up with Sammy. |
