Quickly and excitedly gesturing for everyone to take their seats, Professor Davershire began class for the day. "Transfigurations are not everlasting. The strength of a spell is heavily dependent upon the actual power within the wizard. If the caster is strong then the transfiguration will last for quite a long time. If the caster is weak then the transfiguration lasts for just a short time." She opened the drawer of her desk and pulled out the jar from the last class. The jar was full of all the beetles that they had transfigured into buttons. "These were your buttons." Professor Davershire said with a smile. "So the beetles came to their original shape after only a few hours, but some of them took days," she said proudly. "I can see that some of you are developing your powers wonderfully. Now who remembers covering the lesson in which transfiguration was discussed as a punishment used to turn offending wizards into statues?" Most of the class raised their hands. "We are going to do a very similar thing today," Professor Davershire added and moved behind her desk. She bent down, pulling up a a cage with lots of chipmunks confined inside. "There is one difference. These animals will not be left as a statue for a length of time. As soon as I have graded your work, I will transfigure them back. This will not harm the chipmunks, as these are the same animals we use year after year for this practice. They are well fed and cared for here within the school, many of them actually having lived longer than if they were in the wild." She knew her own fears on the topic when she was a student, and wanted to make sure to set any fears the students might have aside. She quickly began to pass the small creatures out after casting impedimenta on them so they would move much slower for everyone. They were live animals, and should be handled with care and the last thing she wanted her students to have to do is chase after them all period, possibly harming the animal or themselves. "Be careful and treat them with care. We don't want either of you harmed." "The wand moment is the same we did last week," said Ava as she walked around the room. "Visualize your chipmunk turning into a statue of any material, such as wood, stone, or metal and cast the spell. The incantation is 'Statua'. Have fun and if you have any problems, I will be around to help you out." She walked back to the front and held onto the last chipmunk in the cage, stroking it softly as she held it. Homework: RP transfiguring chipmunks into statues. Include a picture if you wish. |
