Professor Black was sitting at her desk reading one of Gilderoy Lockhart's books as her students filed into the classroom. She looked up and noticed that they were mostly there, then glanced at the clock before deciding to put her bookmark where she was reading and setting her book down. As the last of the students scooted into the room, she smirked and stood up.

"Let's get right to work. We are going to begin to vanish things this week. Shouldn't be too hard to practice on these - unlike other things to come, this week we will be working on things that don't move." She said with a hint of mystery, letting them wonder what they would be doing later in the term. Walking around, Professor Black spoke as she handed them each a chalkboard eraser. "So, we are starting with erasers and will move up from there. This is a pretty straight forward spell, it just takes a bit more magic to work it than your normal transfiguration." Having made it back to her desk, she the rest of the erasers down and took one and separated it from the rest.

"The wand movement is the standard three tap method. You do not need to say the item that is being vanished, but you do need to focus on it. If you are not concentrating on the object, you may vanish the wrong thing." She smiled, then demonstrated the spell to them. Tapping the eraser three times, she then said "Evanesco!" and made the eraser disappear. Smiling she looked up to the class and spoke again. "There are enough extra erasers for you to practice again if you wish. I will be walking around if you need any help."

With that, she allowed the students to begin to work.

Homework: RP the lesson.

Auror|Former Ravenclaw Prefect and Captain|

Sara walked into the classroom, she was really alert this morning, she'd gotten up early and had a good breakfast-which was a good start. She usually woke far too early, and it was really annoying, but at the moment, she was feeling good. She ws one of the first to enter the classroom, and as she too her seat she noticed what the Professor was reading. Gilderoy Lockhart? He was a liar, who claimed to do things he didn't! SStill, on further thought she understood that, though the author mightn't have done it-other people had, and so the information could be useful.
Happy with this conclusion, she took out her notes, and her wand. Professor Black had said this would be a practical lesson after all.

She frowned as she announced what they'd be doing. She was really nervous about these spells. She didn't want to make a fatal mistake. She took the eraser with a quiet; "Thanks Miss" she stared at it dubiously. She just knew she was going to find this hard, but she couldn't go forward with that attitude. She needed to be confident. Magic never worked for her if she wasn't confident about it. She needed to believe, to know she could do a spell. She concentrated completely on Professor Black's demonstration, hoping she could pick up some tip, but it seemed to be a pretty....normal spell. It was just the result that worried her.

She took out her wand, and glanced around hesitantly. She saw some other students beginning, but a few looked a bit lost, like her. After seeing someone glance her way, she looked down at the eraser, taking a deep breath. She could totally do this, absolutely. She tapped the eraser three times and said; "Evanesco." Nothing happened. She shook her head slightly, but her face set with resolve. she neded t do this. She ran through the actions once more in her head, until she was sure she knew it, and could do it. She stared at the eraser, until she could summon it in her mind with ease. Tap. Tap. Tap; "Evanesco!" she watched as the eraser gradually disappeared, not quite as fast as Professor Black's, but it disappeared. She went to take another eraser, smiling at the Professor. She tapped it three times, and stated; "Evanesco!" it dissappeared immediately-she was getting better. She smiled, but it faded from her face, as quickly as it had come. She'd just made something disappear. It now ceased to exist. Something about this frightened her. She'd just made something...become nothing, an there was nothing good about that. She hurrriedly left the class, gabling her thanks to the Professor as she left. She dreaded the next lesson.

Kate walked into the Transfiguration classroom. She had found it hard to sleep last night and as a result she walked slowly and tiredly into the classroom. She'd been worried about her stress levels lately because she seemed to be getting headaches so she was trying to sort herself out so no more head aches or lack of sleep. She really just needs a day of complete relaxation which she was planning on doing it this weekend. She did not want a repeat of last year. She walked in ,rubbing her eyes and sat into a chair somewhere near the middle.Kate wasn't really paying that much attention. She pulled in her chair and took out only her wand from her pocket leaving everything else in her bag.Professor Black had said today would be a practical class so even though she had notes and everything in her bag she didn't think she'd need them

Kate thanked the professor when she gave her the eraser. She knew she would have to concentrate enough so somebody or something didn't go vanishing instead of the poor eraser.Even though the eraser obviously wasn't a living thing and didn't have any feelings, she felt a bit sorry for it as it would simple vanish into nothing and would probably never be found again. It could certainly be a dangerous spell if the intentions were bad.Kate looked up at the professor as she demonstrated what they were to do.It seemed pretty easy but then so did a lot of things and then they didn't turn out to be.She doubted she would get it in the first two tries but usually she got it around the third one but with how she was feeling at the moment she wasn't sure how much it would take

She looked at the eraser in front if her and she took out her wand. Some of the other students seemed a bit hesitant.Kate wasn't sure why, maybe it was the fact they were sending this poor little rubber into nothingness.Or maybe it was the fact that it would simple vanish be nothing anymore. It was the unknown a place people didn't like or feel comfortable with because it was often out of their comfort zone.Kate sat up straighter and wiped her eyes and widened them a bit so she could wake up more. She tapped the rubber three times and then said "Evan.."She was saying before she yawned. She shook her head to wake herself up.She steeled herself, her face set.She tapped it three times again and said "Evanesco"She saw the tinniest piece of it disappear. Relaxing herself and taking a big breath she tapped it three times again "Evanesco"She said all her concentration on the little eraser on the table.Kate smiled when she saw the rubber disappear into nothingness. It was almost a creepy thought that she had made that rubber disappear for ever. She asked the professor for another rubber and she was happy when the spell worked first time.Once class was over she picked up her bag,put her wand in her pocket, thanked the professor and left

Georgiana filed into class along with a few other students. Sitting down at the desk she had choosen last week, the teen placed her bad on the ground next to her feet. Wondering if they were going to be working on a spell this week Georgiana put her wand on her desk. It was placed in a way very similar to how muggles would put their pencils and pens across the top of their desks. The wand was the most important tool to a witch and Georgiana took extra care of her's. She loved it alot, Rosewood had quicky become her favorite color of wood, and when her father was redoing the flooring in his house from carpet to wood she repeatedly begged for rosewood as the flooring.

As the Professor began the class she was pleased when she told them they were going to be doing the spell. Upon recieving the eraser Georgiana placed it on her desk in front of her and listened to the Professor carefully for instructions which she'd write down later in her notebook. She knew that it wasn't going to be a spell that she'd learn right away, like all spells she never got htem on the first try. Picking up her wand she balanced it in her hand ready to try the spell out. The vanishing spell was a bit different then the transfiguration spells she was used, she had learned that from reading in the library. Looking down at the eraser she began the standard three tap motion as she focused on the eraser. "Evanes-co," she tried the spell but had been slightly distracted as other students were saying the spell at a different time from her. Shaking it off she focused on the eraser and began the spell once more. "Evanesco" She said slightly louder then before. This time the eraser almost seemed to flicker in space. Smiling to herself Georgiana tried the spell for a third time and this time the eraser completely disappeared from her desk. Checking her desk by running her hands over the spot where the eraser used to be she smiled as it was clearly completely gone. By the time she had managed to make it disappear the class was just about over. Packing up her wand in her bag she collected her things and made her way out of the classroom at the end of class.
