Locusta is the spell used. Professor Black was wandering around the classroom as the students arrived, placing a small box with holes in it on each desk. She had meant to get there early, but was running just a bit late. Today was going to be a fun lesson and she hoped the students would enjoy it as much as she hoped. "Welcome, welcome! I want to get things rolling quickly. Take a seat." She smiled as she placed the last box out and returned to her own desk in the front of the room. "Today we will be focusing on untransfiguration and nonverbal spells. Does anyone remember what Untransfiguration is?" she asked the class. A student raised their hand. "Yes?" she asked, pointing to the student who raised their hand first. She smiled at the correct answer. "You must have been paying attention last lesson. Great answer." She paused, then started to pace the aisle between the desks. "In the boxes on your desk you contain frogs. You will be transfiguring them into grasshoppers and back to frogs, using nonverbal spells. Just for review, who can tell me what the spell is for this transfiguration?" she asked. She nodded at another student, who gave her the correct spell. "Exactly." "The main thing to remember is to focus. You don't want to be thinking of a dog or cat and end up with a very odd animal. You will use the three tap method of course. You may verbalize the spell, but I would like each of you to also practice it non-verbally. You will change the frog to a grasshopper, then back to a frog, like this." She moved to the closest desk and opened the box. She took out the frog and placed it on the desk, tapping it three times. With a bit of a poof, the frog quickly became a grasshopper. Another three taps and the frog was back. "Any questions before we begin?" she asked. Seeing none, she gave the students the go ahead to start practicing. For the rest of the period, Professor Black walked around the room, helping and correcting the students. They were all doing fairly well and none of them had huge problems. She was pleased at the number of students who practiced the spell non-verbally right off. Soon, she had seen those who presented her with their grasshoppers and then again with frogs and dismissed the class. Homework: RP the lesson. First poster answer the first question, second person answer the second question. Good luck! |

Briar could start to feel the pull of the full moon again it was still a couple of days off, and as she had been on the potion for a month the illness that the lack of it had brought had started to wear off thankfully. today she headed to the Transfiguration classroom wondering what they would be learning today, and trying to remember is jeremy was in this class. she needed to do her part of the promise she had made him at halloween, even if then it had been a joke she wasn't going to not do it for two reasons firstly it would be funny, and secondly she didn't like backing down on promises, or dares or bets. she thought for a moment and decided that yes jeremy was in this class but it probably wouldn't be a good class to do it in due to the nature of it. so instead she took her seat in silence as she waited for the professor to start talking. she thought that untransfiguration would make sense as that was what professor Black had talked about the previous class. she was a little surprised when they were asked what it was but briar put h\up her hand. and answered the question "Untransfiguration is turning something that has been transfigured back into what it originally was. for example buttons back into beetles" she said. in reply. glad that she had paid attention the previous class and therefore knew she had got it right. once she was given a frog to work on she placed it on the desk and said "Hello, please behave I hope that this works and isn't to painful" before reaching her wand and pointing it at the creature three taps and the word and there is was a perfect grasshopper. three more taps to turn it back but nothing happened. she tried again and there was the frog. but that was verbal. she tried again non verbally and was surprised that it worked on the second attempt. usually it took a little longer than that, but then she guessed the fact that she already knew the spell helped. she repeated the process getting it right every time. Eventually the frog started to look a little agitated so she returned him and was about to get another when the class was dismissed. she packed up her things and headed up to the dorm to get her broom she wanted to have a practice of quidditch as she wanted to be at her best for the match and the final tryouts that she was to attend in a few months to try and get onto a professional team. |
