Professor Takuya Blaze had his second years for the first time today. It was a new year and that meant new class rolls, he knew the procedure around here so he was ready for whatever they could all throw his way. "Hello all," He started as the class had begun to file in. "I am Professor Takuya Blaze, your Herbology Professor." Takuya walked over to the blackboard and softly tapped it. A picture of a horrid plant, with roots that looked like a wriggling baby. His gaze went back to the children. "You will be growing your own Mandrake, as some might already know from the previous second years. It will be challenging, and I won't expect nothing but your best. Your grade depends on it." Takuya motioned for them to follow him out into the planting room. "I will need to assess your gardening skills, so please plant and grow a daisy for me." Takuya said. He informed, "This garden is enchanted and everything will grow at an accelerated rate. I will stand over you and watch. Now, get down on your knees." After everyone had done so, he continued, "Put the packet to the side and till the soil. I have prepare an example for you over there." He pointed at the tilled soil he had done earlier that morning. It shown that the dirt was mixed and softened, and a small hole around three inches deep and two inches wide all around. "Once your hole is prepared, take the packet and drop it in. Cover it with the dirt you had dug up before, and give it a light pat. Don't compact the dirt or the seeds will have a hard experience growing. Then get your water cans and give it a small amount of water and see if you had done it right. Watch me first." Takuya walked over to his and put the packet in, and done all the steps he had told the children. He watched his seed grow rapidly and within a minute, a bloomed Daisy had replaced the scene of plain dirt. He turned back to the students, "Everyone should have Daisies, and will look similar to this. Begin the watering process." Takuya watched them do what he had told for them to do. After everyone was finished, he walked back over to his Daisy. "It is time to harvest. This is a burlap satchel resting beside me. You will gently pull the Daisy out, roots included." He pulled out his well-grown Daisy and put it into the satchel rather gently. He waited for everyone to finish up. He motioned for the students to follow. "Well done, if I must say so myself." He closed the satchel. "The class will end rather soon. Go collect your things from the greenhouse. Remember, you'll have to clean your tools and put them away. You won't have to today, since it is your first day back, and we are on short time. I'll cut you some slack, but don't expect it much. Just one moment, if you please." He flicked out his wand and casted 'Scourgify' non-verbally to remove any dirt on robes and shoes. "I assume you know how to wash your hands to remove dirt from fingernails and such." Takuya smiled when they were packed up. "You are to do an essay on the Daisy, due next lesson. You may leave." Takuya said. Homework: RP today's lesson, and do the homework assigned. List a source so I'll know if you had effort. |

Mima had to be honest, Herbology was not one of her favourite classes. She didn't really like getting her hands dirty. Of course, that wasn't something she was used to, at any rate. She'd rarely left the house until she started attending Hogwarts. The garden at Scarlet Manor was lovely, but it was mostly well cared for by their aged gardener. Mima never had reason to go out there, anyway. All the company she needed was inside, with their well-stocked library, the ghost of Alice, and the portraits. She rarely saw the sun, and as her aunt Gretchen was so insistent on Mima been clean and well presented, there was no point in her going outside and getting dirty. So, Herbology was quite a learning curve for her. And the fact that they would be growing a Mandrake, which she'd read as being a horrid and disgusting plant, didn't exactly excite her. Sighing, Mima listened patiently to Professor Blaze. Growing a daisy seemed simple enough, but neither the old gardener nor her nanny had taught her anything about plants, so even this was complicated for the sheltered young girl. Mima scowled when the professor told them to get on their knees. Kneeling on soiled ground was far from something Mima would have liked to do. Sighing, she did it anyway, knowing that there was no point in arguing, and that she wouldn't pass if she didn't do the work. Gingerly, she awkwardly mixed the soil a little with her fingers, wincing as she did so. "Ugh," she murmured under her breath, as she poked and prodded a small hole in the dirt. Wringing her hands and shuddering, she then picked up the packed and dropped it in, before pressing the dirt down - rather half-heartedly, she admitted. She picked up her watering can, grateful for something she could at least do. It was like pouring tea - although it had usually been her nanny, the housekeeper, or sometimes even her aunt pouring the tea, never Mima herself. Lost in thoughts, Mima accidentally put too much water on the plant. Realising her mistake, she awkwardly looked away and put the can down. The poor daisy struggled out from under the watery ground, looking a little waterlogged and worse for wear. It was a flower, but not quite as pretty as the one the professor had grown. Hers was a little droopy and sad looking. Mima sighed. Gardening wasn't her strong point. Freeing the daisy from the ground was pretty easy though, the muddy earth made for a rather simple removal of the plant. If plants had emotions, she was sure this one would've been grateful to get dry, as she shoved it in to the satchel. And at the very least, afterwards, she was clean. Scowling as the professor gave them homework - that professor really needed to remove the stick from his backside, Mima thought to herself - Mima wandered back towards the library, supposing she had to get her homework done, but not really wanting to.
