Four loves <3

Professor Davershire stook at the front of the classroom next to her desk watching as the students filed into the room. She smiled as she saw all of the first years, their faces showing how excited they were to learn, or in turn, how annoyed they were to be in class. Once everyone was seated, she moved forwards, greeting them with a smile.

"Hello! Welcome first years! This is Transfiguration. I hope you all are in the right classroom." She looked about the room, making sure no one stood to leave. "My name is Professor Ava Davershire and I will, hopefully, successfully guide you through the world of Transfiguration. Throughout your first year, we are going to cover Inanimate to Inanimate transfiguration; this kind of transfiguration can only be used to make something of equal size, like a needle to a match, for example. You will soon see I believe in hands on leaning, so please make sure you bring your wand to every lesson." She looked around the class and noticed a few students who look sheepishly down.

"A little about myself; I attended Hogwarts here, and was in Gryffindor. I excelled in transfiguration, but used to home school my daughter. Eventually we decided to let her come here, and I followed, taking up a role in the class I loved so much. I have two children one of which has graduated from here." she said smiling at them all. She loved Riley and Braxton dearly.

"I am also a registered animagus, which you will learn more details about as your studies progress. But basically, I am able to transfigure myself into an animal at will.” Suddenly, Professor Davershire turned into a Golden Retriever with big blue eyes, that matched her own. She jumped up on the desk and sat at the edge, looking at everyone, then just as quickly, turned back into herself, still sitting on the desk.

"Okay, to get started. Transfiguration is not just the name of changing one object into another. You must have an idea about all types of transfiguration before you actually learn them,” she said with a flick of her wand at the blackboard. The following was now written there:

Quote:

Types of Transfiguration
Inanimate to Inanimate
Inanimate to Animate
Animate to Inanimate
Animate to Animate
Switching
Conjuring
Vanishing

"First off, I want to also give you some vocabulary. Inanimate means that the object is not alive. Animate, well, is something that is alive. You are all here, and most of you seem to be animate today, which is a good thing. Some of you could be a bit more animate though." Professor Davershire chuckled as she walked about, tapping on a desk or two of those in the back who seemed to be dosing off.

"Let's jump right in and discuss the first four types of Transfiguration. Inanimate to Inanimate simply changes one object that is not alive into another object that is not alive. Most of the time, these are easiest to perform. Inanimate objects will stay put while you cast your spell, leaving you to worry only about changing shape, color, size, and things of that nature," Professor Davershire flicked her wand at a vase on the table that changed into a teacup.

"The second type of transfiguration is Inanimate to Animate." Ava flicked her wand again, this time at her chair. It shook a few times, then it started shrinking while changing its shape at the same time. Suddenly, everyone saw a fluffy little kitten that walked around the class, mewing softly, before it finally cuddled against the feet of one of the students.

"It wasn't supposed to do that," Professor Davershire said with a laugh, leaving at the student's feet.

"Inanimate to Animate Transfiguration changes one nonliving object into one living object. They are tricky to pull off, since you must essentially give life to something that would ordinarily not have it.

The third type,
" she turned toward the class and continued, "Animate to Inanimate, performs in the opposite manner of the Inanimate to Animate ones. You will use these spells to turn something that moves and breathes into something that is no longer technically alive," she said.

"The fourth type of transfiguration is Animate to Animate Transfiguration. This is one of the most difficult types of transfiguration. This transfiguration changes one animate, alive, living object into another animate, alive, living object. Since we don’t have a live object here for me to use to demonstrate, I will show you these transfigurations some other time. So we end our lesson here today. And now, like a terrible Professor, you have homework on your first day," Professor Davershire said grinning and waved her wand at the board, making the homework appear.

Homework:
RP the lesson.

Extra Credit: Choose one of the types of transfiguration and write about either a real myth or a legend where one thing was transformed into another (or you can make a story up.)

Surprisingly, Khione Hawthorne was early for class. She already had her breakfast in advance, along with her newly ironed uniform and robes. The little part-goblin then entered the room, noticing their Professor was already there. She looked rather gorgeous that the first year couldn't help bu to stare at her for a moment, as her jaw was hanging open. It took her a couple of minutes to notice what she was doing, Khione giggled after and chose a seat nearest to the board. It had become her usual seat even in the other subject, with her small height and slender figure, it was easier to be sited in front that stay at the back. After staring at their Professor, Khione waved at her, "Hello Professor!" it was obvious she's excited to begin. As she sat on the chair, her legs swinging, Khione clasped her hands together and waited for the other to arrive. It would probably be quite long but she didn't mind, "You're beautiful, Professor." Khione started while pointing her finger at her.

Soon several student started to enter the room, Khione fixed her eyes on the board then to the the different students entering. Some were familiar while the Ravenclaws were still new to her, she took a strand of her pale blond her and played with it. Waiting for the lecture to start, she inserted the piece of her hair into her mouth, trying to taste the blueberry and kiwis. "Davershire?" she thought to herself, trying to memorize her name at the same time singing the family name over and over inside her head. Once Professor Davershire transformed into a dog, Khione couldn't help clapping her hands. It was remarkable to see a human being into an animal, she giggled more. "Amazing!" she exclaimed continuing clapping her hands together. Her face still in awe, maybe someday she'll try to master a skill or something? Followed by a small little kitten that Khione wants to hug, but it wasn't part of lesson if she did. Still she insisted to pick up the little kitten and cuddled with it, soon she returned it to Professor Davershire. The blonde took some notes and after that she left the room, deciding on what to do for homework.

Transfiguration. Finally a class that Taylor Blare could not do outside of school. A class that she had most been looking forward too since she walked through those Castle doors and slipped the hat onto her head. She was so excited that she had gotten up almost fourty five minutes earlier that morning than had been needed. But that was okay. Afterall, she had to admitt that she had been getting alittle lazy lately and so that meant that she needed to be more active. She changed into her jogging clothes quickly and jogged down to the Entrance hall. She liked to go for a jog out on the lawn for half an hour before she returned to the castle and had her breakfast. She did her excercies for the required time before feeling alot better and returning to the Great hall for her much needed breakfast. She sat at the Gryffindor table and selected a much healthier breakfast than she had in the past, electing to eat a fruit kebab. Rockmelon, orange, watermelon, apple. She smiled at her healthy choice and poured herself a glass of water. She needed to keep hydrated after her run. She looked around the Great hall and realised that it was soon going to be time for class. Taylor quickly finished her breakfast and ran up the stairs to her common room to have a shower and get changed into her class robes. She didn't want to be late for the class she was sure was going to be her favourite.

Taylor smiled as she made her way to the Fifth floor corridor and into the Transfiguration room. She was super excited for this class as it was one of the classes that her parents used to praise to her what seemed like ages ago. She made her way over to the goblin girl in her house and sat next to her, smiling slightly before looking at the Professor, who also happened to be their new Headmistress. She was glad that the woman was nice. She beamed happily at her and got out her books ready to take notes at a seconds notice. She didn't want to endow herself with notes of course, but she wanted to take enough to get herself ahead in class. She wanted to ofcourse do well so that she could make her parents proud. She settled down into her chair to ensure that she was comofrtable enough to pay attention. She listened carefully to what the Professor was saying and smiled at the fact that she had gotten right into it. She took a few notes down and continued to listen to the Professor.

Taylor looked at her notes and nodded at the written words. She knew she would never miss computers or technology. She figured she would definately live in the Magical world when all came to a stop. She looked at the Professor again and nodded when she mentioned they had homework. She had always been fascinated with those stories of transfiguration. Especially muggle stories. Considering she had been living in a mostly muggle world for a long period of her life, even when her parents were fine and healthy, her mother liked to visit her sister alot. Seeing as her sister was a squib, it meant that she could use no magic. Taylor frowned as she thought about it before getting up and heading to the library to attend to her homework.

The Bear Legend
"A Cherokee Tale"

In the long ago time, there was a Cherokee Clan call the Ani-Tsa-gu-hi (Ahnee-Jah-goo-hee), and in one family of this clan was a boy who used to leave home and be gone all day in the mountains. After a while he went oftener and stayed longer, until at last he would not eat in the house at all, but started off at daybreak and did not come back until night. His parents scolded, but that did no good, and the boy still went every day until they noticed that long brown hair was beginning to grow out all over his body. Then they wondered and asked him why it was that he wanted to be so much in the woods that he would not even eat at home. Said the boy, "I find plenty to eat there, and it is better than the corn and beans we have in the settlements, and pretty soon I am going into the woods to stay all the time." His parents were worried and begged him not leave them, but he said, "It is better there than here, and you see I am beginning to be different already, so that I can not live here any longer. If you will come with me, there is plenty for all of us and you will never have to work for it; but if you want to come, you must first fast seven days." The father and mother talked it over and then told the headmen of the clan. They held a council about the matter and after everything had been said they decided: "Here we must work hard and have not always enough. There he says is always plenty without work.
We will go with him." So they fasted seven days, and on the seventh morning all the Ani-Tsa-gu-hi left the settlement and started for the mountains as the boy led the way. When the people of the other towns heard of it they were very sorry and sent their headmen to persuade the Ani Tsaguhi to stay at home and not go into the woods to live. The messengers found them already on the way, and were surprised to notice that their bodies were beginning to be covered with hair like that of animals, because for seven days they had not taken human food and their nature was changing. The Ani Tsaguhi would not come back, but said, "We are going where there is always plenty to eat. Hereafter we shall be called Yonv(a) (bears), and when you yourselves are hungry come into the woods and call us and we shall shall come to give you our own flesh. You need not be afraid to kill us, for we shall live always." Then they taught the messengers the songs with which to call them and bear hunters have these songs still. When they had finished the songs, the Ani Tsaguhi started on again and the messengers turned back to the settlements, but after going a little way they looked back and saw a drove of bears going into the woods.
[ooc]I realise this is more like an animagus story, but it was all I could think of xD And besides she is eleven, so she likely doesn't fully understand the whole switching thing ;) [/ooc]
