Professor Jacqueline Black stood at the front of the class, waiting for her students to arrive. This was an important year for them. It was the year they sat their OWL exams. The were going to be under the most pressure that they will have had at school so far. "Welcome back to Transfiguration. This year we will be learning yet another new type of spell, so I want to get right to it. You need to be ready to sit your OWLs later on this year and these are going to be on the exam." She flicked her wand at the board and the words Vanishing Spells appeared in block printing. "Vanishing Spells are an interesting sort of magic. They are used to make something disappear, just like their name says." She gave the class a look that let them know that she knew just how obvious she was being. "Now, we are going to discuss a bit of theory, then get into the pronunciation of the spell and how to use it." Professor Black took a few steps forward, walking to the front of her desk. "Now, Vanished items are gone. They are moved into nothingness. They are not just made to be invisible, but instead actually disappear. There is some discussion on whether they are actually transferred to another plane of existence, but that is still being researched through the Ministry and we won't dwell on it. My Transfiguration Professor when I was in school used to say that the items go into non-being, which is everything. So you may choose to believe that the items we will vanish this term are now part of everything, or you may believe they are simply gone. That I will leave up to you to decide what makes most sense for you until the Ministry tells us otherwise." She smiled at her students, then walked back to the board. She tapped the board and the words disappeared and new words appeared.
"This is the spell we will be using this term. I would like everyone to say it with me." The class repeated the spell with Professor Black three times. "Wonderful. I do believe you are all saying it correctly. Now, we will be starting out small next week, moving on to larger and more difficult objects for vanishing as the term progresses. As always, if there are any questions, feel free to contact me. My office door is always open." She smiled at the students, then motioned to them they were dismissed. "No homework this week. You are dismissed. We will get right to work next time so make sure you bring your wands." With that, Professor Black moved to sit down at her desk, preparing her lesson for the next class. Please rp the lesson. Most of this year's class points will be based on your rps. |

Kate walked to the transfiguration classroom. The sun was shinning through the windows of the corridor as she made her way up to the classroom. It wasn't that far as it was only on the floor above her.She liked where the Hufflepuff common rooms were situated because they were almost in the center of the castle. You didn't have to go up many flights of stairs to get to the fourth floor and once you were here you didn't have to walk far to get anywhere,up or down. She walked into the classroom and sat down in the middle row.It was where she usually sat in any class. She wasn't tall enough to sit in the back as someone would probably sit in front of her and she wouldn't be able to see anything.Kate wasn't particularly small but she wasn't very tall either.Ryan was the tallest of them all but it wasn't very hard to be taller then any of them. They were all quite small. Kate concentrated on the class at hand not letting her mind wander to Stefan. If she did she would just start worrying which wouldn't be a good thing at all.Her grades would probably improve this year as she would be focusing so much on school and everything but her social life. She didn't want free time at all she constantly wanted to be doing things.Which would be a good thing for the OWLs this year as she wasn't much of a studier but she was definitely going to be more focused this year.Kate listened as Professor Black informed them of what they would be doing this year.Kate had heard of the vanishing spell before, she must of read it some time last year.Obviously it did what it said on the tin and Professor Black stated that.Even though it wasn't that hard to guess what it did.She took brief notes of what was said just for revision later on in the year.Kate looked at the spell on the board. She repeated the spell with everyone in the class. They repeated it three times and Kate was able to pronounce it.Once class was dismissed she gathered her things, thanked the professor and left |

Sara was completely set on becoming an auror, and though it was a very hard subject-Transfiguration was key to that. So it was imperative that she got up early to go to class. At least that's what she'd been repeating over and over inside her head all morning. It had been her mantra, while she was eating breakfast, while she was climbing the stairs to the Transfiguration room, and now as she was finally reaching the classroom, her eyes barely opening. It was so early. However, she rubbed her eyes and pinched herself, feeling slightly more alert. Okay, time to go into class. It was the first class of the year, so Sara wasn't expecting anything overly taxing. She was glad when Professor Black got right into it. Vaniching spells. Nasty. She'd read about them before, when reading her course books over the Summer. She was glad of it now, because she probably wouldn't absorb most of this if she hadn't already read it. She hadn't slept well last night, and she resolved to go bed earlier before Transfigurtion from now on. She tried to listen as Professor Black described vanishing spells. She really didn't like the sound of them. They could be very dangerous, if used in the wrong way. Say a vaniching spell were used on a person? What would happen to them? It was scary, and not exactly comforting to be learning about them. She just hoped she didn't make any fatal mistakes. She repeated the spell three times, along with the rest of the class; "Evanesco. Evanesco.Evanesco." she intoned. Part of ehr knew this was important, another felt that thiskind of lesson was pointless, where they were basically just getting an introduction to the class. Still, she knew that it was importan that they weren't foolhardy with magic. She smiled at Professor Black's dismissal. No homework, and though there was no chance of her getting to sleep-she could never go to sleep during the day. She might get to relax a little in the common room. She thanked the Professor as she left and almost ran back to the common room. Now, it was time to wake up properly. |

Georgiana entered the classroom and sat down in her favorite seat. Transfiguration was most certainly her favorite class to be in. The idea of changing things always captivated her imagination. Upon sitting she opened her bag and took out papers to write notes down. As their Professor began to speak, Georgiana almost completely forgot to write down anything being so captivated by the lecture. Most of her classes just bored her and she'd try to be a good student and that seemed to work having her been choosen as a Prefect, however this classes was the only one that actually got her interested in the work on a regular basis. She ahd also thought Herebology would be her passion, but it didn't seem so. As they were asked to repeat the spell aloud she followed along with the Professor, "ev-an-ES-ko", "ev-an-ES-ko","Evanesco." Finishing her notes for the day she packed her belongings and said goodbye to the Professor on her way out the door. |

Klaus walked into Transfiguration class, and he sat in the back. He always preferred sitting in the back where he was least noticeable. Transfiguration was not one of his favorite classes when he was home-schooled, and he knew that it was not going to be one of his favorite classes at Hogwarts. The Professor began to speak, and Klaus listened actively to the lecture. He may not like the class, but he always tried his best in all of his classes. They would be focusing on Vanishing Spells this year. He knew that hew would have trouble performing spells in general this year. He knew that he would totally bomb his OWL's this year, but he would try to not bomb too bad. "Evanesco. Evanesco. Evanesco." he said along with Professor Black and the rest of the class. Professor Black said a few more words before she dismissed the class with no homework. He was pleased that there was no homework, and he left the class. |
