This was the sort of day that Harry loved. The weather was as glorious as ever in New Zealand. He smiled as he raised his head to the skies enjoying the heat pouring down on him. He had become very accustomed to the warmer climate in New Zealand, something that was completely different from his home back in Scotland. As a young lad the cold never affected him much as he was used to it but when he had returned home for the holidays it was as if he was never warm. Bringing his head down from the clouds he saw his class approaching, smiling he welcomed them. Just like any day when he had planned a field trip, he was in a very good mood. He didn’t have these students for too long but soon they would learn the days that they had field trips by his attitude. Today was an exception though, as he had already told his class that they would be having a field trip today. As the class started to bulk up a bit Harry did a quick roll call and saw that everyone had arrived. “Great!” he said as he clapped his hands together to grab everyone’s attention. “Now if you’d all move over here and on my count grab the kettle. We shall get this class underway.” he said as he walked over to where he had kept the portkey – somewhere that most people wouldn’t accidently stumble across it and get a nasty shock. On his count everyone grabbed on to the kettle and in very little time they were all on solid ground again. Turning to face everyone he was sure that they hadn’t lost anyone, No, thank Merlin. he thought to himself, he hadn’t lost anyone yet and wasn’t looking to either. “Right class, today we will be learning about Merpeople, which you should have learned a bit about last year.” He looked around making sure everyone was listening. “We are in England, in an aquarium in which resides Merpeople and Grindylows. Of coure, glass barriers protect us from danger, and they will not be bothered by your presence.” he told them. It was amazing that muggles never saw this place yet. It looked like a typical muggle aquarium but the creatures were far from anything that they would see in their own aquariums. “Now Merpeople live underwater. Even though they are native to Greece, they now live mainly in the United Kingdom. Merpeople have grey skin, and sharp yellow eyes. There is a known to be a few types of Merpeople. These include: Sirens, which are the earliest recorded Merpeople, and are often depicted in Muggle literature and paintings as beautiful. The Selkies of Scotland, and the Merrows of Ireland, are less pleasing to the eye. However, despite their physical differences, they all retain their love of music” He rambled off. He was slowly going into Professor Spenser’s territority of History of Magic, talking about the Sirens and such but he was sure the man wouldn’t mind too much. “Merpeople are known to carry weapons, which are called, Lobalugs. The Lobalug is an aquatic creature found at the bottom of the North Sea. It is a simple creature, ten inches long comprising a rubbery spout and a venom sac. The Lobalug uses its venom sac as a weapon, contracting it and expelling the venom.” He finished off. He felt that he had lectured enough for today and as ever he believed that students needed a good correlation between theory and practical work and his aspect of practical work was to allow them to look at the creatures for themselves. “Right class, feel free to look around. Meet back here in an hour. Have fun! And don't do anything stupid like fall in!" He said with a roll of his eyes and a small smirk before walking off himself to explore a bit. When the hour was up he gathered the class and in no time at all they were back on Hogwarts grounds. “Class dismissed.” he told them before going to do some paperwork. The joys!
