Kate looked around when she heard someone else join their group he didn't look familiar so she guessed he was one of Sara's friends "Hey she said my names Kate"She said with a smile but she had a feeling he knew her already. She took the present and unwrapped it "Wow thanks"She said looking at the chocolate snitch she put it over with her other presents. She saw Jake hide at the back of the group she walked over and saw the concern on his face "You know if you want you can watch the first game"She suggested smiling at him.She didn't want anyone to feel nervous or anything. She walked back to the others "Okay Sara"Kate said smiling at her sister. She walked over to an open space where everyone could see her and she had enough space "Okay so gaelic football is like soccer only you can use your hands"She said "One of the hardest skills to do is called soloing"She said demonstrating "And there is also when you pick up the football when its on the ground without picking it up with your hands"She said demonstrating again [ooc]Here is a video of the two skills The basics for gaelic footballSorry its not a very good video buts it was the only one I could find [/ooc] |

Kayden looked around to see if anyone else was getting confused. Though it seemed like it could be fun to watch he wasn't sure if that would be so for him on the field. "Who gets to pick first for teams?" He questioned Sara and Kate, he alreayd knew neither of them should want him but Sara seemed to have already pick him. So he figured they might have already picked he had just been in lala land going over the rules. His sister counted to four all the time with her music but he wasn't as skilled in acuratly counting over and over. |

Stefan had never been very good with slowly growing crowds. This was definitely different from everything else, he'd ever done. Stefan Mason was thankful that Kate hugged him. He hadn't wanted to too much and it had felt somewhat awkward but, at the same time it felt normal. Stefan had never associated touch with normality or non-pain. He Pulled away. And moved away from the crowd. Sports was not his thing. He would play, if he really needed to, but, since there were only little lights in the ever growing darkness, Stefan could see no way of him being able to play, without accidentally running into someone of something. Sports was not the kind of thing that colourblind people did. Like Stefan hadn't gone to flying, and that hadn't just been through his fear of heights and falling, but because when moving fast in the air, Stefan assumed even for everyone else, it would become difficult to see, and since it was generally sunny in New Zealand, that would make it even more difficult for Stefan. He didn't want to say anything, but did take his t-shirt. It was odd for him to get a t-shirt so freely given to him, and in his mind he reminded himself that he should give it back at the end. He wouldn't normally pass up something that he needed, but Stefan didn't want to take things from kate, or Sara on there birthday. Stefan Archer knew his mind had an odd logic. Stefan had moved away from the growing crowd. He waved to Sam, and gave a small nod to the familiar looking blonde, whom he was sure he'd met at least once before. Where however Stefan couldn't pin point. It was weird to see mainly other boys, and he was even more glad to see that he was not the one Slytherin. He knew then that no one could say anything bad about the Slytherins, if two could be friends with members of other houses. Stefan figured that the other slytherin was just a nice guy who'd been sorted into Slytherin through no fault of his own. But Then Stefan Archer didn't really know. The rules of Gaelic Football were weird. Confusing and Stefan was having real difficulty understanding. It seemed he wasn't the only one, not too keen on playing. Stefan was now next to the tree, near where the food was being prepared watching as the other Slytherin went to the back of the group after seemingly agreeing to playing. Stefan looked down at the ground. It was just darkness. He bent down and touched the ground. It was grass, that he knew, but Stefan would be the one to not be able to see a stone or something of that sort and fall. And he didn't want to end up in Hospital Wing or ruining the party. Stefan didn't go to the hospital often. And he hated it when he did have to go. The Hospital wing would have too many questions for him. The older bruises would be explained by falling over during a game of Gaelic football. So, Stefan just stood, hoping no one would notice him. Since, Stefan was quite good at making himself disappear but He didn't want to do anything that would make anyone feel bad or awkward. Stefan Archer stood back up and took a few small steps forward. Teams. Stefan took a deep breath and tried to calm himself. It was failing. He wanted to play, but he was nervous and scared. He was glad that he was near the back, so he quickly, took off his jumper and his usual t-shirt and quickly put on the t-shirt that had been provided. He then quickly put back on his jumper and placed the t-shirt at the base of the tree. Stefan knew he didn't even look athletic. He was skinny. But, Despite everything, Stefan was going to give Gaelic Football a go. For Sara, and For Kate. |

Letting out a relieved sigh and a small smile as Kate suggested that he watch the first game, he was glad that Kate understood how anxious he actually was. It was one of the many things he liked about her, it was one of the main reasons he wanted to be her friend. She understood him and made him feel comfortable. He nodded at Kate and whispered "Thank you." before turning around and walking to the tree he had planned to sit at before and leaned against it, closing his eyes, holding his head back and exhaling, he felt really relaxed in the beautiful sunset. It was the perfect place to have birthday party and he liked that Kate was so caring and sweet. He smiled to himself and continued to soak in the perfect atmosphere the party had. He wouldn't want to something so perfect by playing the game and failing epically. He opened his eyes slightly and observed what was going on. He would understand the rules of the game better if he watched it first. He had never been the kind of person to stay still and listen to rules. He had always found it so much easier to watch and understand everything from there. It would also be easier for everyone else because when he did start playing, he wouldn't be completely oblivious to the rules. He moved and sat against the tree and watched the group, glad that he felt relaxed and comfortable at the party. Even though it was all Kate's doing. |

Kate smiled to herself when she saw all the confused faces "This should be fun"She said to Sara. She saw people hiding "You know its not that hard once you play"She said grinning she knew they would find it hard and confusing but that was the fun part she could see that people were anxious but it wasn't like it would be a proper game of gaelic football she doubted they would be able to get it on their first go it wasn't like she expected them to be brilliant at the game "You know guys this is a party and at parties you have fun I don't care if you think you won't be able to play I just want to see how you get on I want this to be fun"She said smiling trying to reassure them "And if you want you can sit out for the first on"She said hoping that would reassure people "Your welcome"she whispered back to Jake she didn't want anyone feeling anxious or anything but she would make sure everyone would play." Sara you can pick first as you are the oldest by about 5 seconds"Kate said sarcastically her sister sometimes teased her about the age difference |

Gil stiffened when Sara hugged him. Like most boys his age, he wasn't a huge fan of physical affection. Not beyond a punch to the shoulder between mates. Relaxing, he gave her a friendly pat on the back, watching as she opened his present. “Yeah, I should've got you a book” Gil admitted with a sheepish grin, “How could I forget that Ravenclaws love books? It's practically a law. Like gravity's practically a law.” Gil stepped back and away from her, shoving his hands in his pockets as he glanced over at Sara's sister. He had a feeling he might have met her before, there was something about her face. Oh well, never hurt to talk to anyone. “I'm Gil. Hope you like chocolate. And what do you mean, Irish are the best?” Gil retorted indignantly, turning back to Sara with a sly grin, “The only thing you have going for you are the leprechauns and let's face it, if you were that awesome you would have found their gold already instead of going on about pots under rainbows. Besides, I heard it disappears. Leprechaun gold disappears.” As Sara spoke of the dog and boy, Gil frowned, glancing back over at them. So not a birthday present then. He raised an eyebrow doubtfully. They didn't look very cool. “A legend? It's not boring, is it?” asked Gil sceptically, “Cos, you know, if I want to get bored to sleep, there's history of magic for that.” Gil was feeling overconfident about this new concept of Gaelic football. Sure, Kate and Sara were saying it was hard, complicated, driven by rules, but it couldn't be that hard. It was still football. Gil felt fairly confident that whatever the game was, it was probably much easier than they were making it out to be. Then Kate started explaining. Half the rules went over Gil's head before she'd even finished. He frowned, trying to go back through them in his mind, but it was no good. After a few moments, he gave up with a wry grin and shrugged off his t-shirt, replacing it with the new lucrid green colours of the irish one. Somehow, Gil thought, looking down at it with distaste, it felt like he'd suddenly been converted to Slytherin. From brave and bold to slimy and cowardly. From a lion to a worm! Ok, he was being a bit harsh. But still! Wearing the colours of the enemy! Come to think of it, there were a couple of slytherins here. Gil glanced over at the others, trying to remember who was from which house, but once again his memory failed him. In the t-shirts, they all looked the same. No differences at all. Gil abandoned his thoughts with a grin as he heard Kate announce they were choosing members for a team, glancing over at the two girls with a grin. So he didn't get the rules. Gil had always been better at working things out as he went along. Edited by Gilbert Williams, Jan 14 2011, 10:31 PM.

Sara looked around at the small group, and realised that Jake wasn't going to play, but she wasn't going to push it-It was his decision. She looked toward Kate and gave her an inquiring look, knowing her sister would understand. "Picking teams? Well I guess the guests should be Captains maybe?" she replied, looking at Kate. "It's not a law, and the fact that I like books has nothing to do with being a Ravenclaw, it's to do with having an intelligent and knowledge-consuming mind." Sara replied at Gils answer. "Also-I love chocolate." she laughed. Then at Gil's answer she replied. "Hey! We're definitely better than the home-invading, freedom-stealing and famine-making English!" Sara retaliated, indignantly. "And maybe we just have more regard for the protection of those who are weaker than us!" Sara replied, laughing, her and Gil had spoken about leprechauns before. "No! It's war and battle and the tuath de dannaan!" Sara repliewd, gesturing with her hands. Sara ran over to her sister and whispered in her ear "How are we going to organise this now?" she asked, she quickly counted the guests-who were playing. Six "We can have even teams of three." she added. |

Kayden looked at other party guests wondering if anyone else was just as confused as him. He didn't like big drowds, everything seemed to get jumbled up together and things never really turned out right. He moved back out of the way still hoping to play but not wanting to get on any ones bad side at the same time. He stood leaning on one foot and watch as Sara ran over to Kate to talk. If the guest were going to be the captians he knew he didn't want to be picked as one himself. Though prehaps it could be fun being the leader for once, he never has been before. "Sara Kate, who're the captians then?" He questioned to them before he could help himself. Instantly Kayden looked down at the ground hoping no one noticed the redness of his ears. |

Kate smiled at Gils comments. He was very sterotyped to every house and Kate didn't mind that for some reason she hoped the others wouldn't either."Yes Sara has a point the Irish are ten times better then the English and I still hole gruges against that country because of what they did"Kate said "And there is no such thing as lepricauns that is all just a myth if you want you can read about it in one of or books"She said pointing to them she was highly indignant of what he was saying and she was detirmined to have a proper talk with him later "Ya I think thats a good idea"She whispered back "Well I think maybe Sara and I will or if ye want any of ye can"She said smiling at their little group. She started to make goal posts and with her wand she marked the lines that would be on a gaelic football pitch. When she was satisfied she went over to Jake and gave him a green flag and a white flag "This ones for a goal"She said pointing to the green one "And this one is for a point"She said pointing at the white one smiling and showing him where to go.She walked back to the others and waited for them to make their decision |

It was such a relief for Jake to not play the game. It was in no way that he didn't like the game or because he didn't like Kate or Sara, it was because of his unco-ordination and his anxiety about sport. He had always been bad at sport and he didn't want to make anybody else suffer by playing horribly and making the team he was on lose. That's why when Kate walked up to him and handed him a green flag and a white flag. He was expected to be the referee. He started to feel nervous again, he was lucky that Kate explained to him exactly what to do. Raise the green flag for a goal and the white flag for a point. It was simple, he understood it instantly, its not like it was hard or anything. He was pleased that he could be involved in the sport with actually having to play. Once Kate had smiled and showed him where to go, he smiled back and walked to the said destination. Jake stood there and waited for the game to start. |

[ooc] I feel like pointing out that Gil is an idiot (in case you didn't realise this) and none of his opinions are my own. Besides, he's too young to have learnt the truth about British imperialism. If he knew, he wouldn't be calling it awesome. [/ooc]“Who doesn't love chocolate?” Gil agreed, laughing. Well, at least his present was appreciated. He still had the feeling that a book would've been better. Gil frowned, mouth half open in a forgotten reply. Famine, invasions? His mind flicked back to his history lessons, what little he recalled of them. Divorce, beheaded, di...Wait, that was Henry 8th. Gil couldn't remember anything about Ireland. “Yeah, but all countries get invaded at some point” Gil pointed out after a small pause, attempting to lighten the conversation with a joke, “Don't get all snappy just because we invaded you.” Gil stuck out his tongue before adding with a small grin, “If you irish are really that awesome, you'd have kicked us straight out. We were so awesome, we had an entire empire! Just like the Romans! And the Romans were kickass!” His face brightened as he remembered one rare, treasured history lesson. A very rare thing indeed.“I got to dress as one when we did it in history” recalled Gil cheerfully, “ I got a shield and a spear and we re-enacted the tortoise manoeuvre. Best history lesson ever!” Gil threw the ball he'd been given onto the ground, knocking it back and forth between his feet before kicking it lightly over to Kate. “ Leprechauns do exist” Gil retorted stubbornly shoving his hands in his pockets, “I actually read a book about magic creatures and they were mentioned in there. They're also the Irish mascots for Quidditch.” He stopped, feeling a sense of pride that he'd actually known that. Apparently he could absorb information if he tried. “I was looking up dragons” explained Gil matter-of-factly“I thought there was one in hogwarts.” Gil's eyes lit up as Sarah summarised the legend. Okay, not entirely boring then. “War and battle? And tu...tua...Ah, whatever. Is there a hero in it?” exclaimed Gil, grinning enthusiastically, “ 'Cause heroes are awesome. Even irish ones.” He stuck out his tongue, adding proudly, “By the way, the most awesome hero ever, King Arthur, was English. So there!” Gil frowned as Kate gave Jake the referee job, glancing over at him. He didn't recognise the boy, so he couldn't be Gryffindor. So quiet...maybe Hufflepuff? Figures that a Hufflepuff would want to be the referee. Still, didn't he want to join in at all? Standing on the sidelines was no fun at all. “Don't cheat and let Kate win just because you're her friend!” Gil called over with a grin, glancing between them, “Isn't it boring to ref? Why don't you come play with us? If you're scared of getting injured, there's the hospital wing. They can heal bones really quickly.”

The eleven year old Gryffindor ran down the stairs of the castle, Grace was a lady and was not one for sports, but being late overran all lady-ness, Grace was never late to anything especially not two birthdays that were to be celebrated with two of her friends! Yet here she was, running through the school, her nice curled hair being blown behind her, her dress being held up slightly by Grace’s hands, stopping her from tripping over, Grace was in such a rush to get down to her friends birthdays that she did not put her Violin away, it was sitting out in the open on her bed, that was something Grace never did, that Violin was very important to her but it took a backseat this time. Grace ran past the students in the corridors, slid down the stair rails something that was not what a lady does, she pushed open the doors instead of opening them slowly and with care, all to try and not be late for her friends birthdays, Grace nearly cursed when she thought that she forgot Sara and Kate’s presents, but soon found them in her dress were she put them, they were wrapped in the white swan and dove paper that she used for Tara’s present. Grace looked at the two books that she got for Sara, a while ago she met Sara and she had the book ‘Inkheart’ so Grace thought it would be good to buy her the other two books, ‘Inkspell’ and ‘Inkdeath’, but Kate was slightly harder, then Grace remembered how Kate played a flute so Grace got her several sheets of music that she thought Kate would be able to perfect, Sonata by Lowell Liebermann, Sonata in D major by Prokofiev, Undine Sonata by Reinicke, Concerto by Ibert and Incantation by Andre Jolivet, most were for accompanying instruments but they could be played solo as well. Grace put the sheets in a plain white box, Grace also got Kate glitter and stickers and other decretive things so she could decorate the box to her liking if she wished. Grace ran out of the castle and saw a group of students, she could see Sara and Kate clearly as she was looking for them, but she could also see other students that she did not know but she could also see Vayne and Stefan so she knew some of the students there at least. Grace saw how the place was decorated, it was done very well and Grace was rather impressed that they worked so hard to make this possible, just like proper hosts should. Grace walked past the many people that were there and went straight to Sara and Kate to give them their presents first since she was horribly late. Grace noticed that they seemed to be planning something, a game of some sort. Grace also knew that most games needed to be even so if need be she would sit out, Grace was not for sport and she was late after all. Grace fixed her Gryffindor necklace that she got, since she did not wear the red and gold people had no idea what house she was in because she often wore white dresses or something similar. Grace was confused when she reached Sara, she seemed to be in a small argument with a boy. The boy was saying something about the Roman society being kickass, Grace assumed that this a compliment but she could not be sure, she had never heard the term before so she asked. “Excuse me, but what does ‘Kickass’ mean?” She asked in a polite tone, then she remembered why she came here. “Oh Sara I got you two books from the series ‘Inkheart’ I hope you do not have the last two.” She explained giving her the two well wrapped books. “And Kate I have found you some sheets of music for your flute.” She explained. “And a box to put them in and decorations for it.” She added giving Kate the well wrapped gifts.[ooc] Sorry for the overly big post and if I missed anything, I haven’t been on for awhile and had to catch up on everything and my posts may be few and far between also [/ooc]

Tara was running late.she didnt normaly run late she had left the tower a fiew minutes latr that she had hoped an made her way down to the the club rooms. she had to leave the presents in the heta omega club room as she had to make them and being in the same house as kate made it hard to do it in her house. she she had spent most of the eventings the last week making two matching gifts. however hust as she had reached the frount doors she realised that she had left the cards in the dorm. she hurried up the steps to pick them up but as she was in a sari (green today) she couldnt run fast or it would come undone. finaly she made her way onto the lawn. by the time she reached the lake front she saw that the others were already selecting teams for a game. she walked over to the twins and gave them each a present wrapped in the colour they had chosen for the paint fight a fiew weeks ago. "Hello, sorry i'm late. happy birthday, I hope you like them. i will show you how to put them on later if you wish." she smiled at them hoping that they wouldn't mind that she wouldn't be able to play but she wasn't really dressed for sport. saras gift here kates gift here |

Kate decided not to comment on Gils veiws of the Irish she was secretly fuming inside and had a lot of things to say but she kept quiet and decided to get back at him at football. She smiled when she saw Jake take his post beside the one of the goals she would need someone for the other side but if they couldn't get one it wouldn't really matter. She was starting to get annoyed with Gil but for her sisters sake she would keep quiet and maybe just maybe once she got to know him she might possibly like him.Jake can decide to do whatever he wants and he will be playing the next game anyway"She said smiling and trying not to hide her annoyed feelings. She turned to Sara to talk about the teams "Why don't we be the captins and you go first as you are the oldest"She said to Sara looking around to pick her team. She turned and saw Grace running towards them. She smiled when she arrived she looked very flushed and Kate looked in wonder at her dress it was very pretty. "Wow thank you Grace they look great"Kate said happily and hugging Grace she began reading the music and she was delighted to have some music to play over the winter break she laid it over by her other presents and came back to her guests she then saw Tara coming towards them she was holding to packages in her hands "Hey Tara"She said smiling and hugging her she opened her present and gasped when she saw what was there "Wow its beautiful Tara"Kate said hugging her again. She laid the sari over by her other presents. This year had been the best for presents she loved every single one of them and couldn't wait to try them out. She looked at her friends trying to decide how to make the teams even Grace and Tara weren't dressed properly so she thought of jobs for them. "Okay Grace your job is to put either a green flag up for a goal and Tara your job is to put up a white flag for a point"She said indicating the two flags she gave one to each of them and told them to go over to either side of the goal opposite to Jake. "Okay Sara take your pick"She said happily |

Sara was mad with Gil. She discreetly whispered in his ear "You're pushing it Gil!" she said, KAte would be mad and she knew it. She had to try and fix this. she quickly moved onto a new topic "Okay so, picking the teams um.. I pick... Red!" she grinned, Kayden was her one of her best friends, she already knew the tyeam she wanted, partially, but there were only guys to choose from, so she wanted Vayne, Kayden or gil on her team, they were her closest friends, but Kate would probably choose Vayne as she suspected that Kate didn't like Gil-so Sara would choose him. "You read a book?" Sara asked sarcastically and said "Actually Arthjur was obsessed with the grail, slept with his own sister and abandoned his wife for five years." Sara said, her head tilted to one side. "And yes-there's a hero." she added, smiling. Then Grace appeared "Hey Grace!" Sara exclaimed, hugging her. "I'm working on the whole danger to society thing." she added, winking. Then when she saw the present she was delighted "Thank you-I love this series-thank you, thank you!" she exclaimed, hugging Grace again, lightly so that she wouldn't wreck her clothes. She went over to the pitch and said "Come on, lets get started." she replied, then Tara came up, with a beautiful sari. "I love it Tara!" she grinned, hugging her-it was absolutely amazing. She walked back over to the group and said "Come on guys, lets get started." she smiled, then grabbed Gil by the arm "The kid is younger than us Gil-leave it alone." she whispered, she got the feeling she might be acting as referee between Gil and Kate for the night. |
