Professor Rowann stood at the front of the desk, leaning against it with her hands in her pockets as she waited for the students to show up. Behind her was a small stack of books ready to show the class. Muggle literature only required one lesson because it was more common for wizards to know and read Muggle literature than it was for them to see and comprehend television.
"Good morning class!" she greeted the all cheerfully with a wink. "I'm sorry to tell you but today we will not be venturing out of the classroom," she chuckled at the sound of a few groans.

Lola took her hands out of her pockets and grabbed the first book on the pile, deciding to get right into the lecture. She held up the first book, hearing a few snickers already.

"Okay, this is a children's book called 'The Cat In The Hat' written by the very famous Dr. Suess," she said, looking at all the students so those that were snickering would stop. She understood that it was only a children's book and not really what came to mind when you thought of 'literature' but she wanted to show that pictures in books didn't move at all. Lola flipped through the pages as she explained this, knowing that some might've already known that, whereas others might've thought that the immobility only applied to muggle portraits or something.

She then put down the book and held up few different small, tattered books of different content, but all by the same author.
"William Shakespeare is probably one of the most famous Muggle authors ever, born way back in 1564, the dinosaur era," she joked, winking so that they knew he was kidding. "He wrote various different poems, sonnets, and plays that are still being taught around the world," she informed them.

Next she picked up a small book called Slaughterhouse 5.
"This book is called Slaughterhouse 5, and it is written by Kurt Vonnegut, who was mostly known for his black comedy, satire, and science fiction in books, and was known for his humanist beliefs throughout his life," she briefly lectured them.

The next book she picked up was a book called 'Pride and Prejudice' written by a female Muggle author for a change.
"This book, called 'Pride and Prejudice' is written by a woman named Jane Austen, and ever since this book was published in 1813 has been well loved, even winning the top spot in a survey of 'best book ever written' at one point in 2008," she told them knowing this book to be one of her favorite muggle books ever.

There were plenty more books for her to elaborate on, but she decided to let them do some research instead. Professor Rowann stood up from leaning against the desk and went to the blackboard, picking up a piece of chalk to write out a list.

Quote:

Top 10 Authors
1. William Shakespeare - various
2. George Orwell - Animal Farm, 1984
3. Charles Dickens - A Tale of Two Cities
4. Kurt Vonnegut - Slaughterhouse 5
5. Virginia Woolf - To the Lighthouse, Mrs. Dalloway, A Room of One's Own
6. Ernest Hemingway - The Sun Also Rises, Farewell to Arms
7. William Faulkner - The Sound and the Fury, As I Lay Dying
8. Ayn Rand - The Fountainhead
9. James Joyce - Ulysses
10. J.D. Salinger - The Catcher In the Rye

Lola had written out a list of the top ten authors and when she was done, she turned around and said, "For your homework I'd like you all to please do research on any of these from the list or who I talked about today, or if you really want to challenge yourself, write an essay on an author not mentioned on the list! Class dismissed," she told them all with a parting smile.

RP the lesson,
the homework is extra credit.
