((First off I'd want to apologize for the blatant lateness of this lesson. I didn't have internet for several days, and I lost my blackberry, so there was no way to schedule a substitute to take over this lesson. Anyhow, here it is. Enjoy.)) It was raining something fierce outside. Thunder boomed in the background and rain beat upon the glass windows of the castle. It was a perfect day to relax and read, but Evie had a lesson to do, and alas her time to read would have to wait for an hour or so. The classroom was already setup for the students. The desks were pushed up against the wall, with bean bags and pillows having taken their place. Several Televisions were placed around the room, with different video game consoles hooked up to the televisions. Evie smiled as she studied the area. She had outdone herself, and she knew that the students would enjoy themselves immensely. The bell for class rang, and a few minutes later all of the students had walked in and seated themselves comfortably on the bean bags. Evie made sure to greet each one, and when all had arrived she went to stand in front of a television. "Good morning, everyone. Enjoying the weather?" She smiled. "Today, I thought we'd do something fun to get your mind off of the dreary rain. Does anyone know what a video game is?" A student in a red bean bag raised their hand. Professor Brennan acknowledged for them to continue. "It's a game you play on television?" Evie nodded. "It's an electronic game." She turned on a white console that was standing up straight. "This one in particular is called an XBox 360." She picked up the controller and began to manuever around the screen. "This one is a lot more advanced that it's earlier counterparts." Suddenly she had an idea. She walked over to another tv, and turned on a small gray console. The screen began to play soft music, and showed a tiny pixel figure wearing green. "Look how different the two are. This game I am playing is the Legend of Zelda." Evie put down the controller and went to grab a few booklets. She passed them around. "In this booklet you'll see all kinds of video game consoles and their descriptions. It starts out with the earliest and ends with the latest one. I don't have every single console in this room, but I do have some that I'd like for you all to test out. Multiple people can play on them, so you will have to share in the fun." She thought for a minute. "Read over the booklet and write a short essay on a video console, like when it was created ect. After that, you may play whichever you want. I'll be standing by if you need help." ________ When the bell for the end of the lesson ended, Evie called out, "No homework tonight. Just remember to keep your booklet for you will be tested on it!" Just RP the lesson and do the essay. Six sentences minimum for the "essay". Do your best! Edited by Evie Brennan, Feb 10 2010, 03:57 PM.

Muggle Studies wasn't a bad class, Simon had decided. Everything was simple and straightforward most of the time, and though he wasn't much of a writer he didn't mind writing essays on all the muggle thingummies. Growing up in an all-wizarding household had him almost entirely ignorant of muggle life, and his father had insisted that all of his children, at some point within their lives, ought to get to know a muggle or at least take Muggle Studies. After all, it was difficult to live peacefully alongside a culture that one knew nothing about. Study and experience led to better understanding and tolerance, his father always used to say. Suffice to mention, there were no muggle haters among them. Simon thought them funny folk and very clever. All those incredible things that they had invented to get by without magic ... his musings carried him almost directly into the closed door; Simon blushed as red as his hair and entered silently to take his seat (or beanbag). Already he could see some games on display. It was going to be an interesting lesson. He took a red beanbag and sunk into it, almost burying himself immobile within the beans. It was incredibly comfortable and it put him in a better mood to answer questions. Professor Brennan pointed out one of the game consoles and Simon raised his hand. "It's a game you play on television?". He was pleased to see that he was right, though Professor Brennan then mentioned something about eklectro...ellecton...Never mind, sighed Simon inwardly. He never got it right. He was sufficiently distracted when receiving a booklet, and even more so when they were told that they could test out some of the games. Some of the muggle-borns and half bloods had a few of them at home; apparently they were addictive. Simon began flicking through the booklet and eventually abandoned it to play some of the games. How they were working within Hogwarts, he would never know, but he sure wasn't complaining.
An O. Excellent work.

Violet skipped down to Muggle Studies, which was always a quiet and fun class, with a smile on her face. Muggle games and fun was something she knew a fair bit about, and getting to apply her knowledge in to a class was always a good thing. Maybe it was a little cheap, but she enjoyed the class, so she figured she might as well do it. Maybe she could get a job working with muggles, or liasing between muggles and wizards? It was something to think about, she supposed. She still had no idea what she wanted to do with herself and she was aware that time was ticking but she tried not to think about that. It wouldn't hurt if she didn't go straight in to the workplace, right? Maybe she could do the muggle thing and take a gap year. That's what she would have done if she was going on to a muggle university after high school. It's only sixth year. Not important. Cheerfully waving at Simon, Violet went and sat down, grinning when she saw what was planned for the lesson. Man, both dad and Angus would love this. She went to answer the first question but Simon got there first. Didn't matter, though, Violet was too distracted by looking at the consoles. Her dad loved video games, as did Angus, and they had a few old consoles and games that were always good fun to play. Like the Legend of Zelda, which Professor Brennan had playing now. She had spent hours watching and playing with her dad and Angus, struggling through Ocarina of Time, amongst others. Wow, this class is such a big nostalgia trip, Violet thought, grinning, as she set to work on the essay for the class.
Finishing off her essay, Violet handed it to Professor Brennan and gravitated straight to the Nintendo, to play some Zelda. If anything, this class just made her homesick. But Violet didn't mind. She was enjoying herself, and that was what was important. Wonderful job, as usual. An O. Edited by Professor Evie Brennan, Feb 12 2010, 09:50 PM.
