Prodan leaned against his desk, and stared at the students as they filed in and settled in their seats. Prodan smiled at them, and he said, "Welcome! I want to get started so you have plenty of time to work on your assignment. There are a wide variety of kinds of movies out there and I want to touch on a few of them in class today. It will be your assignment to research a few more or go into more detail on." Tapping the board, words popped up.

Blackboard Words

Comedy
Drama
Horror
Musical
Action

"These are the main types of movies that are presented in muggle Cinema. I will give you a quick overview of each type and you can then use the rest of the time to work on your assignment. I have materials here for you to explore and write up a paragraph or two." Prodan glanced toward the back of the room, where a few shelves of books and magazines were set up. The materials there always changed based on the topic being discussed.

"Comedy comes first to be discussed. There are a wide variety of comedies to watch, from romantic comedies to teen comedies to dramadies. The basis of the comedy is that it is funny. The humor may be sweet or crass, but the overall effect is to make you laugh and feel good. The plot is usually less intense and not very involved."

"Drama is the next category I have listed. Drama is the next category I have listed. Dramas are usually a bit more involved and a bit more intense. There is a larger, involved plot. Sometimes these movies are based in literature or in reality. There is some action, some suspense as well involved in these. Many times there is romance that has some type of obstacle to finding the happy ending."

"Horror really doesn't have too much plot to it, depending on what the horror is about. Basically, there is a mass murderer on the loose and trying to kill everyone. The goal is to stop the murders. Not all horror are like this, but they all involve some type of guts and gore on the screen. The ultimate goal of the filmmaker is to scare you."

"A musical is a movie that involves not only dialogue but musical numbers as well. Typically, there is dancing by the characters as well. Most musicals involve romance and comedy, but some can be very dramatic. The origins of movies were in the musical, taking and adapting stage productions of theater to the movie screen. This form somewhat died off for a while, with only one or two popping up every so often in the newest movies being released. There was a resurgence of them in the early 2000s, with many movies coming out based on stage productions again."

"Action movies are the last ones I will be talking about. These are typically geared towards males, not that females cannot enjoy them mind you, but typically the storyline is more the kind that guys like. These movies usually involved alot of gunfire. The plot usually involves some type of 'good guy' trying to catch a 'bad guy'."

Prodan leaned away from the desk and he smiled, "All right then, your assignment is not a long one. I want one paragraph on a type of movie that is out there. I have a lot of references that you can look up. Just include an example of a movie or even a few if you like. It has to be in the category of what you are writing about. Now, get to work!" Prodan went to his desk so that he could watch his students work, before the class was over and he dismissed them accordingly.

Homework: RP the lesson and do the assignment. It can be as long or as short as you like.

Mike entered the classroom noting he was the first to arrive. Mike decided it was probably best to get out any equipment he thought he may have needed throughout the lesson. Mike waited patiently for everyone else to arrive and listened as the professor started the lesson. Mike noted down the genre's of muggle films and re-read them so he had a clear understanding of what each genre was.

Mike listened as the homework was set and they were dismissed. He quickly left for the common room and decided to get it over and done with.

The Hangover

The Hangover is an American comedy released in 2009. The plot is simple: 4 guys go to Las Vegas for a stag night and wake up to pandemonium. They have lost one of their friends during the course of the night who is also the guy who is getting married. The other 3 guys with the added package of a baby which they found in their closet. The film had a budget of 40 million US dollars. The film is full of laughs, and generally a film I would recommend to anyone. I would put the film under the genre of comedy. The film was inspired by real life events which happened to the producer of the film. ( Todd Phillips)
