Prodan sat behind his desk, one of his legs crossed over the other. His silver eyes stared over his class, not a hence of ice in them unlike his brother counter-part. Prodan knew this week would be an easy one for his students, not to mention for himself as well. He greeted fondly, "Hello everyone. Today is, of course, review day. So, just get out notes and such to review. Exams are just around the corner you know. Either study in here, or go to the library. Use the time I give you wisely. I expect nothing short of Outstanding on your exams. You are free to go." Prodan folded his arms across his chest, and gave his class a smile before he went back to his own business.
Homework: Attendance post. Study for the exams!

Almost over! It’s almost over! she told herself as she got ready for class that day. It took Patricia more time and effort to get ready for class that day, one – she didn’t want to go, and two – she just didn’t feel up for it. After the fiasco of classes last week, well just muggle studies, she had been put off going to class, but knew she needed something to keep her mind of Joseph and just stay distracted. Putting her bag over her shoulder she made her way down to the Greenhouses, preparing herself for another class. Being week 6 she had an idea of what they would be doing, but then again Professors were known to think outside of the box in the final class.
Timidly she entered the Muggle Studies lesson. Last week’s class hadn’t gone down too well with her and she hoped the Professor wouldn’t be mad at her for doing what she did. Sitting down she took out her notes and writing equipment, no one else had yet to arrive so she found herself lost in her thoughts. Trying to keep thoughts of Joe out of her mind she thought about her new Muggle Studies Professor, she had yet to realise where she had heard his last name before. But before she could think about it the class began. Signing she heard the Professor say that today was a review day – although she had expected it. Taking out her notes from previous classes she began to look over them and make new ones where necessary. - Quote:
-
Lesson 1: Pop Quiz: - 1. Does electricity work around magic?
It doesn’t
- 2. Name 2 types of Muggle currency systems.
The pound sterling and the Euro
- 3. What is the basic function of a microwave?
To heat up/cook food items
- 4. Name 2 differences between Muggle schools and Wizarding schools.
Muggle schools don’t use magic The classes taught are different, e.g. in Muggle Schools you learn English, Science and Maths. In Wizarding Schools you learn, Potions, Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts. Lesson 2: Muggle Communication Devices: - Wizards communicate via patronuses and owl post
- Muggles use:
Telephones Mobiles Faxing machines Post – not the owl kind
- Telephones:
Have a number pad which allows the dialler to type in a ‘special’ number and have a live chat with the person at the other end of the phone
- Mobiles:
Works the same way as a telephone Smaller Portable No wires You can text – like sending a letter
- Faxing machine:
An old method Fax pieces of paper to different people
- Posting letter:
Commonly known as ‘snail mail’ due to how slow it is Write a letter, or a card and then seal it in a envelope and then place a stamp on the corner and put the address of the person you want to receive it and put it in a post box, it is then sent through the person’s letter box The length of time it takes depends on the class stamp you put on it.
- History of the telephone:
The telephone was invented by a man named Alexander Graham Bell All around each country there is a national grid, which connects all the phones by wires, and gives them connection.
- Essay on Alexander Graham Bell (inventor of the telephone) – read over.
Lesson 3: Muggle Communication Devices – Cont’: - Computers:
A laptop or notebook computer (small) The laptop is able to be taken outside as well as to school or anywhere else. Desktop so named for their size and portability.
- The computer is a way to access information, as well as to communicate with others
- A mouse, so named due to its shape and the cord.
- Email: This is a way to send letters that you type into the machine via the keyboard.
- Keyboard - Has all the letters and numbers and many symbols on it
- Instant messenger:
You chat back and forth between the computers. It is a lot faster than email because the message is able to be read without having to open the letter
- Cellular phones.
Used for ringing and texting Lesson 4: Muggle Transportation: - Muggles have a variety of forms of transportation.
- The automobile, or car as most call it today, is the most popular nowadays.
- There are many different forms, shapes if you will.
- Some of them hold a few people, and some hold a bunch.
- Cars drive on the roads and they get you from one place to another.
- Most run on gasoline, although we are moving closer to alternative fuels.
- Motocycles are like a bike with a car motor.
- These are fuel powered bicycles that can travel much further than a manual one.
- Buses, airplanes and trains = Mass transportation.
- Airplanes are flown by air, much larger than a broom.
- Buses and trains travel on the ground, or under it.
- Many people can travel on these at once.
Lesson 5: Consequences of Muggle Transportation:- Muggle transportation can cause numerous issues.
- Accidents
- Fuel shortages/costs of operation
- Pollution
- Delays/Traffic back-ups
- Accidents are a major problem with muggle transport, just like wizarding transport.
- Vehicles are often dangerous if reckless people are behind the wheel, and people can lose their lives.
- It is similar to a broom. A car, truck, bus, whatever has to be kept in control at all times, or it can be damaged, cause damage to others or even be a weapon.
- Fuel is costly to run the vehicles.
- To be able to drive, you have to have fuel in your vehicle, and enough fuel to get you where you need to be.
- However, the cost of such fuel can prevent some from getting to where they need to go.
- If they cannot afford it or the supply is scarce, muggles will be stuck in their homes. They may walk, but sometimes that is just not going to happen.
- Fuel being burned to make a car go gives off exhaust, which brings up to our next topic.
- Pollution; Similar to wood burning in a fireplace, there is a smake that is a byproduct of the fire.
- These byproducts are destroying the Earth's protective layers, and the muggles are attempting to find a better solution to the fuels.
- However, from the looks of it, there isn't going to be a cheap cost to alternate fuels for now.
- There are many traffic delays or backups.
- These issues can get harsh enough that people often get angry with one and another.
- Road rage is the name of this.
- Believe it or not, muggle have been known to kill over being stuck in traffic.
Lesson 6: The class seemed to drag in painfully so, the only noise was the scratching of quills on parchment. Finally the class was over, packing up her things Patricia left the greenhouse and made her way back up to her dorm room with full intent to study until she fell asleep.
