Professor Glasson entered the classroom with a frown. She was exceptionally tired and didn’t feel much like talking. She stopped walking and paused in front of her desk. “Hello class. Today is a very trying day for me, so I am going to give you a title of a book in the library and I’d like you to go there and research it. Please read all of the text of Egyptian Magic. After you have read the pages I have highlighted, I would like you to write an essay on Osiris. This should be at least 150 words. This is due next week! Thank you all and have a good week!”

*****HOMEWORK*****

As I said, I’d like an essay on Osiris. I would like you to visit the school library and please read the “book” titled “Early Egyptian Magic”. It’s there under ‘History of Magic’. Please read that, and try to remember what you have read. This will be on the exam! Thanks and have a great week!

Alex walked in late to HoM only to find the Professor sending them away for a book in the library. What book? he thought as he walked back out of the classroom. Asking someone else, he found out it was Egyptian one. Wo cares about Egypt? Where is that any way? He walked to the library and slipped the book out of someone's hand secretly and started reading it, only understanding a bit of it. He gave up reading it and just asked people who Osiris was, ending up with enough info to write his essay.

Osiris was one of the many hundreds of gods the egyptians seemed to worship. He is probably one of the main ones though. The egyptians refer to her as farming god, symbolizing springtime and light. Osiris was said to have fertilizing and growing powers over nature too. Osiris was the husband of the quenn of gods, Isis. Isis had a bizarre relastionship with Osiris though. The egyptians said that Isis was not only the wife of Osiris but a sister and a mother. This is why Isis sought out to find the fourteen pieces of Osiris's body when Set destroyed him. The Tat held a very important role in religious services, especially the annual one that got held to celebrate the death and resurrection of Osiris. Through the services, Egyptians hoped the would become glorified and immortal and happy in their after life thanks to Osiris's suffering and pain. In mummification, the scarab can be placed in the incision above the left leg to ensure Osiris watches guard over you. Also, if two eye amulets are used, the right amulet could sometimes represent Osiris and the Sun whilst the left represents Iris. The Steps were one of his main symbols in mummification though.

Hmm, I wonder who it could be

Rhyspa practically ran to the History of Magic Classroom. She had a feeling she would be late a lot this year and she really hoped it wouldn't happen. She quietly entered the room and took her set. Rhyspa cast an apologetic look at Professor Glasson and pulled out her books. Soon the students were told what they would be doing and Rhyspa jotted down the homework in her planner.

Rhyspa made her way to the library and plucked the book off the shelf. She took a seat by the window and read the murky yellow pages. Rhyspa jotted down information she thought she would need and since she was in a quieter place then the common rooms, she began to work on her essay.

Osiris

Osiris is known as the god of the Afterlife. He is one of the oldest Egyptian gods that records can be found of. He was worshiped by many people until the rise of Christianity in Egypt. He was associated with the vegetation of plants and the flooding of the Nile river, which was very fertile and granted much nutrients to the surrounding lands. Osiris is the son of Geb, the Earth god, and Nut, the sky goddess. He is also the brother and husband of Isis and his son is Horus.

Later, Osiris is associated with the name Khenti-Amentiu, meaning "Foremost of the Westerners." It is a reference of his kingship of the land of the dead. Osiris was usually described as green, the color or rebirth, or black. He is also depicted holding the crock and flail, which represented divine authority. His feet and lower body were wrapped which gave the appearance of him being partly mummified.

Rhyspa blew lightly on the last of the drying ink before rolling up her parchment. She packed up her things and departed the library, heading for the haven that was her bedroom.
