Transfiguration,6,2Professor Burke sat at her desk, looking forward to today's lesson. A number of water glasses sat on her desk, ready to be used in practice today. As her students filed into the class, she continued to write a letter. She quickly finished it and sat it to the side. Once they were settled, she rose and began the class.

"Welcome!" she greeted the sixth years. "Conjuring is our focus this year. Who can tell me what it means to conjure?" Professor Burke asked as she looked around the room, calling on the first hand that rose. After listening to the answer, she nodded and continued. "You are correct. Good answer."

Moving back towards her desk, Jacqueline picked up a goblet. She tapped her wand three times and spoke the incantation, "Aguamenti". A stream of water flowed out from her wand, and filled her glass. "Today we will be conjuring water. The spell is Aguamenti. Let's say that together please. Aguamenti." She listened to the class repeat the word. "Wonderful. There are a few key things to remember with conjuring. First, you must concentrate. Picture in your mind the object that you are wishing to have. For example, I filled the goblet by picturing it filled with water. This also helps to control the amount of water you get, or amount of any other object for that matter. The more accurate and detailed you picture what you are trying to conjure the better the result. Second, you still need to use the three tap method and speak the incantation carefully. If you say it wrong, you might just have a different result." She said, a little sternly, hoping the students understood her warning was to be heeded. Even the best wizard or witch goofed occasionally.

"With that, please come an pick out a drinking glass. You can continue to practice as much as you need. I do request that I get to taste your water for grading. Make sure when you are picturing the water in your mind, you also envision the taste and smell. Accuracy and detail are important. I will be here for any questions you may have." With that, she let them get to work, sitting at her desk ready for them to bring her the water to test out.

Homework: Simply RP the lesson. Please bring the water up to me to taste and grade.

The first transfiguration lesson of the semester left Flavio feeling reassured the semester ahead wouldn't involve hurting innocent animals, and that the professor wouldn't make the class experience something like that again so as he arrived to his second lesson he felt excited and eager to learn rather than worried he would feel traumatized when the lesson was over. Instead of sitting at the back of the class like he did in the first lesson Flavio chose to sit at his usual spot in the front row so he could give the professor his full attention. He unpacked the belongings he brought with him, then looked up to professor Burke as the woman greeted them. When she asked the class what conjuring was Flavio chose not to raise his hand and allowed someone else in the room to speak. He wrote down the answer however and headed up his piece of parchment with the word 'conjuring' wanting to write down as much information as possible.

The next thing Flavio wrote down after the answer to the question was 'aguamenti' as the professor soon introduced the spell before describing its purpose. This was a spell Flavio had seen his siblings use in the past so he watched the professors demonstration eager to learn the spell more than anything. One thing he noticed as he got older and began his later years of school was the spells his family used regularly and learning these spells in classes was met with a feeling of impatience in him to finally turn seventeen so he could use the spells himself. This lesson was going to be one of the times Flavio felt impatient. He practiced saying the incantation with the rest of the class, following the professor and then wrote down the correct pronunciation to reference later on while studying. After that Flavio wrote down each of the professor's points to use the spell correctly and he walked to the front of the room to pick up a glass when the class was instructed to. He was pleased to see that with the three tap method, and visualizing the result in detail it was possible for him to add water to the glass. He handed the glass to the professor on his way out of the room feeling accomplished of what he had learned, and hoped that his later transfiguration lessons that semester would be just as interesting.

Although she had been apprehensive coming in to the subject for the year, last week had left Ainsley tremendously excited to continue with Transfiguration. Bringing objects back from the void and creating something from nothing was fascinating, and she had spent a lot of the previous week absorbing every book she could find in the library on the subject. Taking a seat near the front, Ainsley got her things ready to take notes for the class, eager to learn more on such a fascinating branch of magic. She raised her hand immediately at the professor's question, pleased to be chosen. "Conjuration is an advanced branch of magic that deals with casting things from thin air, creating something from nothing." She was pleased to have her answer praised, and listened carefully as the professor continued, practicing the pronunciation of the spell with the rest of the class when directed. Ainsley took careful notes as Professor Burke laid out everything they had to remember when casting the spell, and made sure she remembered all the details. When it was time she took a drinking glass and sat down to practice, making sure to focus and clear her mind of everything but water, before practicing the spell. Ainsley's first attempt tasted a little too much like the delicious breakfast that was still in the back of her mind, so she vanished the water and took a second attempt. Happy with the result she presented it to the professor for grading, thrilled with the feeling of creating something from nothing at all.

Part-Veela | Chaser | Hogwarts Monthly Writer & Assistant Editor | Heta Omega Secretary

Noemie knew that she could use the valentines day dance and the roses before to help declare feelings for Asmodeus, and they would spend the time together, she knew it. The ravenclaw had never been so certain about something, and unlike with her classes, she knew the result would be exactly what she wanted. It wasn’t however the only thing she had to think about that week, she had a little more. The quidditch game at the end of the week, after the valentines event was important, if they won that they won the cup and that was the most important thing. The ravenclaw was getting herself ready for the day. She was looking forward to what joys the week would bring for her. She had to focus on her classes yes, but she had so much else that she would be able to do. The teen was smiling and getting herself together for the day. She had gone for an early morning run, and after it, got ready with a small smile on her face and a skip in her step. It was perhaps the first time in a long while that Noemie’s mornings weren’t filled with worrying about how she would do in the exams and what that would mean for the future, if she kept her grades at what they were, she’d be able to continue all her classes and in the next year she could work even harder. With that she ensured she had everything before walking out the room.

Noemie walked into the transfiguration classroom, eager to get started. She knew that they were doing conjuring spells during this semester and she was very excited to see what kind of things that meant that they would be doing. She listened as one of the other people in the class answered one of the questions asked and then glanced back towards the professor as the woman got started with the spell they would be covering. She took out her wand and placed it upon the table before pulling her notes towards her and while listening to the explanation that the professor was giving writing down a few things to do with it. She wanted her notes to be thorough, but didn’t want to miss a thing. She repeated the word with the rest of the class when she was supposed to and then it was over to them. Noemie took a drinking glass from the front and took it back to her table. She pointed her wand at it, and after clearing her throat said, ”Aguamenti,” she had tapped three times and nothing happened. She did the spell over a few times before she managed to produce a full cup of water, but it took a few more tries before she was confident enough to take the water to the professor to be graded. With that too, Noemie was able to pack up and leave the room. It had been difficult to do but he was happy.

Sheltered and clueless | Chaser | Ollivanders Assistant

Rory didn’t have a girlfriend currently and the girl he was maybe admittedly a little interested in didn’t want anything to do with him at all. He couldn’t help but feel a little lost about how to deal with this week, he usually sent roses to the girls he was flirting with, but didn’t want to do that. Flirting was usually fun but it had lost its flavour in the boy’s mouth, he flirted with people he knew wouldn’t ever want him back. He flirted with people he was sure didn’t like him in the slightest, well, who wouldn’t like him in the way that it would ever lead to anything, but it seemed pretty pointless to even do that. He would probably still send a couple but maybe they could be less flirty, and maybe he should send an apology one to Anabelle, maybe. He would see if he was up to it. It would depend, but he would certainly be going to the valentines event alone. But there were bigger things to focus on, the quidditch game for one and technically he had classes, but they were dull and he was going to them and thinking about quidditch. He made sure that he had both his quidditch and school stuff each day that week. He got the last bits and pieces together and went to the first class of the day.

Rory walked into the transfiguration classroom and took his usual seat in the room. He wasn’t sure what to make of the new professor. He wasn’t sure if he liked her more or less than the last one. Certainly she was different than the last, perhaps more of a styx than a pendleton. But he was however keen to just learn what he needed to from this class and then be able to do a few more spells in the long run. The teen took out a few books and placed them upon the table as the professor asked a question. He thought it was a rather dumb question but listened to the answer anyway. His gaze shifted to the professor as the woman showed them the spell they would be doing. He repeated the name of it along with others, taking a little more care over his words since he knew his accent could come into play. With that however, and the brief instructions on how to do the spell, they were left to get started. Rory shoved his way to the front to grab one of the first glasses and then returned to his desk. He pointed his wand at it and after tapping three times and said, ”Aguamenti,” the glass seemed to partially fill, it took him a few tries before he was happy with what he had and he took it to the professor to get a grade on it. When he was satisfied with that, Rory packed up his things and left the room.

Amber was excited for the Valentine's dance at the end of the week, but she knew she couldn't let that distract her from her workload in her classes. She wanted to do well in her classes so she could enjoy the dance without any worries. Though she did find herself daydreaming about dancing with her girlfriend in a few of her lessons. But she couldn't help feeling like it was still very exciting to attend an event with Ainsley. It was sad to think they would only go to two dances after this. The girl made her way into the Transfiguration and gave the professor a smile before taking her seat.

The professor started the lesson by reminding them that they would be focusing on conjuring this year, and at her first question Amber raised her hand. But instead, Ainsley was picked. Amber glanced at her girlfriend with a proud smile. Not too long ago, her girlfriend would have been way too shy to answer a question like this. Though she supposed that actually was a while ago. She reached over and squeezed the girl's hand briefly before focusing on the lesson again. The professor showed them a spell that conjured water, filling a glass. Then she said they would be learning that spell today. Amber took careful notes on the lecture, writing down the steps of how to get to this result. There was a lot more to it than it seemed, and she hoped she would be able to remember it. She took the warning about speaking the incantation carefully to heart, noting that down too. After the lecture, she got a drinking glass and practiced the spell for herself. The first time she managed it, she conjured a little too much water and it spilled over her hand, it also smelled a little strange. But after a few attempts, she managed to created water that smelled and tasted like regular water. Amber grinned at her result, proud of herself. She headed over to the Professor's desk to let her grade it. When the lesson was over, she left the classroom with Ainsley, still happy of how she had done.
