Canine Animagus ☼ Spell Inventor Magical Menagerie Proprietor Transfiguration Professor 1-4 Brodie's Familiar

"The art of the animagi is without a doubt one of the most dangerous branches of Transfiguration." Aeon began the lesson quickly, having a lot to cover for the day. "Of course, all branches come with their hazards, but, in order to be an animagus, it requires a high standard of dedication, skill, intelligence and common sense. It's no easy feat, and few witches and wizards succeed."

Aeon propped himself up on his desk, his eyes looking across the rows of students to ensure they were all paying attention. "It takes years to master the ability, but for some, it could take decades. Everyone is different, and responds to the process in their own way. The training is strict, and requires the utmost concentration. The mind is a complex system that you have to learn to take control of in order to master Transfiguration."

"There have been a great number of people who have wasted away their lives, attempting to learn this art, but never made it. As you are transfiguring yourself, it requires great care. In many cases, some have gone on to transfigure themselves into an animal, with no way to reverse it or no one around to assist them in reverting to their human state, so they remain that way."
There was no telling how many animals in the world right now could have potentially once been people, stuck that way forever. "The anguish of not succeeding is something you have to learn, along with the sweat drops you'll have to cherish until an accomplishment can be reached. You see, the cells of your body will have to learn to listen to your will and transform to those of your animal. The generic patterns will of course be not alike, for you are still human, but they will resemble one another somewhat after the transformation. The control you have over your transformation is granted by the mind, therefore, you are human. Never the animal." He explained, once more ensuring notes were being taken and the focus was on him. If anyone was interested in becoming an animagus, they needed to heed his every word.

"Now, once you master the animagi, you must register with the ministry. It is a process that will take quite a bit of time, for they do test your ability and your responsibility. Being able to shapeshift into an animal makes it more difficult for you to be identified, and way back in the olden days, some animagi used this to their advantage to break the law. To combat this, the Ministry demand that you register with any specific markings or traits of your animal, so they know exactly who you are. These can change over time, and are sometimes dependent on your human traits. Those who wear glasses can find their animal form has ring like patterns around the eyes, for example. Blindness, deafness, missing appendages, are all also things that will cross over into your animagus form."

"As I said, to become an animagus requires a certain amount of ability and dedication. Even with hours upon hours of practice, most people never quite learn the complete transformation. Often, it goes horribly wrong. In my school years, I was told a story of one student who decided to give the transformation a go. While he managed to turn himself into an anteater for a mere few seconds, he found upon changing back the urge to eat bugs that stayed with him for at least a week."
As hilarious as it was, other people weren't so lucky in their side effects.

"Also, if done improperly, you may become disfigured permanently with some of the features of the animal. Additionally, no one has control over which animal they turn into. The process seems to know instinctively which animal is best suited for that particular person, based off of personality traits, or symbolism associated with that animal. The Patronus Charm may give you a hint toward what form you may take, but even that spell itself is quite advanced, and not always reliable as the charm's form is subject to change based off of personal feelings."

"Before you go, I have some fun and easy homework to give out. If you were an animagus, what would you be and why? Class dismissed."

[justify]Simon certainly felt like he’d made the right choice in the classes he had picked to do as electives, they were good and fun and he was enjoying all the little parts of them where he was learning something new. Simon had briefly considered doing all of the electives, but he knew he would end up disliking some of them, and if he didn’t like something he didn’t bother with it and that would hurt his overall average. He didn’t want to affect that. Simon gathered up the little things he needed for the day, having really spread himself out during the studying he’d been doing over the last week. With a few more classes he had to be sure he was covering all of them equally. He needed to do well in all of them, not just some of them. The boy put the last of what he knew he would need for the week into his bag and then headed out of the room.

Simon had been rather surprised by the nature of the classes he had during this semester, a lot of them had been more involved in the final week, which simon was rather pleased about. It meant they did more than just study. he was expectant that of all his classes that Transfiguration would be the one they'd still have a lecture in, and how right the boy was. He took his seat in the room and the professor got started with his lecture. It was clearly following on from the one they'd had in the last week. The ravenclaw wasted no time, and just began writing down everything that the professor was saying. He wanted to be sure he had all the finer details of what the man was saying. Not wanting to get any of it wrong. He wanted to pass the exam they would have. He was surprised with ho wrong and detailed the lecture was but rather pleased because it meant he felt like he'd done more in this final week. But the lecture did eventually wrap up and he left the room heading to the dorm to do more revision.

Lesson six was here and Len was excited. She had been happy this period and that was showing in her grades and attitude. She still liked Chante and Mitchell a lot and some people in her house and she was a very proud Gryffindor at the moment. The last lesson of the period also meant that the exams were coming closer. Len seriously had to learn at this moment since she had yet to start. Len sighed and hoped they got time in classes to study. Len entered the classroom and sat down luckily for her it was a revision class and Len started to read back up on her notes that she made this period. She was all done with homework so it was only reading some notes. Hopefully she had done enough to succeed with the exam.

Len hoped that it would be a quick and easy revision lesson, but she was wrong. This was just a normal theory lesson and Len wasn't really prepared. The lesson was about becoming an animagus and Len already knew she could do nothing with this information. She didn't want to become an animagus nor did she had any interest in the subject. The lecture was extremely detailed and boring. Len wondered what this Professor did for fun, which was probably listen to lectures by other people. She was totally tired at the end of it.

It was now the last week before exams and Patrick still thought as though he had so much more to learn in all of his subjects. He knew he would be spending all of his days this week studying, whether that be in the classroom during class time or in the library. He wanted to do well, even though it was only his third year, to prove that he actually could take on all of the classes and that he had the capacity to do anything he set his mind to. The boy entered the Transfiguration classroom and straight away took out his writing equipment so he could listen intently to the professor's lecture. They were talking about animagi again and the professor went over what could go wrong for them, which didn't sound pleasant to say the least, and put Patrick off becoming an animagi even more as he wondered why anyone would actually be bothered. By the end of the lesson however, Patrick was happy with all of the notes that he came up with and headed straight to the library after leaving the classroom to do as much study as he could before his exams.
