Canine Animagus ☼ Spell Inventor Magical Menagerie Proprietor Transfiguration Professor 1-4 Brodie's Familiar

[justify]Dressed in his enchanted canine robes, Aeon waited for his students to arrive whilst transformed into his husky self, watching them from his position on the seat behind his desk. One paw was on a quill, as if he'd been writing with it. In all truth, he had, attempting to learn to do human things whilst in his dog form in case he ever needed to, and partially just for fun. Once it appeared as if the last student had arrived, he became a man again and addressed the students, stepping to the front of his desk.

"Ok, well, to get started today, I'd like you to take our your quills." He heard some of the students mumbling under their breath, one of them he could hear say "I thought he said that we were going to be using our wands today." Summers glanced at the particular person who had spoken and paused. There was also one to complain.

"Now, take out your wands." He grinned, and a few of the students looked puzzled. He turned around and grabbed his own quill from the desk. "Today we are going to change our quills into spoons. In transfiguration, concentration and imagination are key. If you can't mentally visualise the outcome of your spell, it isn't going to work well. You are altering the very molecules that make up an object, so I'm sure you can see how important it is to concentrate. In most of the transfigurations that we will be doing we will be using the 'three tap' method. For this particular transfiguration, the incantation is Scriopea. Now watch me..." Professor Summers held his wand to his quill, tapped it three times and said "Scriopea". With a soft noise, his quill flipped around and turned into a silver spoon, with feathery patterns lined through its metal to hint at what it had once been. He picked up his new spoon and held it up to the class. "This is what you should end up with, though the types of spoons will vary depending on each of you. For instance, this spoon is of silver, but the first time some students perform this, it's quite literally a little rusty. You may also be wondering, "Professor, how is it important for us to turn a quill into a spoon?". The answer is that it isn't. This will hardly be practical in your day to day life. What is important is learning how these Transfigurations work, and gaining experience through them, no matter how random or mundane the items may be." He smiled at the class. "Now, don't forget, three taps, and 'Scriopea'. I will be walking around as you do this, so if you need any help just raise your hand. At the end of class, line up at the door and I will change your spoons back into your quills." He held up his spoon and with another tap of his wand, it became a quill.

"Alright, let's get started!"

Note: "Finite" is a counter-spell, not Untransfiguration, and shouldn't be used to reverse any transfigurations.

The halloween feast had been a lot of fun! As had the match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. Alice was a little sad her own house had lost, but she had still really enjoyed watching the game. Unlike her cousin Grace, she didn't think Quidditch was really her thing, but she found she really liked watching it. Hogwarts was starting to feel like home to the Hufflepuff, even if she felt a little sad too to be away from her parents. Her mother was very busy right now with her campaign, but Alice was glad to still receive letters from her sometimes. Alice didn't have to miss the rest of her family much, though, as a lot of them were here at Hogwarts with her

Making her way into the Transfiguration classroom, Alice had mentally prepared herself for another lecture. She didn't really mind, as the subject was interesting, but she had hoped to learn some spells sometime soon. With a small sigh, she took out her quill and parchment, vaguely noting the professor hadn't mentioned parchment but sure he had meant both. Her eyes widened as he told them to take out their wands next, and a hopeful smile blossomed onto her face. She beamed as she learned they would be turning their quills into spoons, and paid rapt attention to the professor's instructions. She didn't care that this wasn't a very practical or useful spell, she just wanted to learn how to do it. Once it was time to practice, she tapped her wand three times and said the incantation. To her disappointment, nothing happened. In Charms, her spells usually worked immediately. Maybe Transfiguration was more difficult? It took the girl four tries until the quill even turned slightly spoon-like, and to her frustration it still definitely wasn't a spoon. By the fifth try, it looked like one, though it was a bit crooked. She supposed she would have to live with it, though she would rather be good at it the way she had been with Charms. At the end of the lesson she let the professor change the spoon back into a quill before heading out on her way to the common room.

Abian had been very startled by the transformation from a dog into their professor the first week at Hogwarts, and had been wary of the Transfiguration professor ever since. He took his seat, resigned to spend another lesson listening to a lecture he could barely follow. He had given up on this subject around week two, so he was ready to let his mind simply wander for the next hour and be done with it. So he was slightly alarmed when the professor told them to take out their wands. Were they really going to do spells? He hadn't enjoyed that aspect of Charms so far, and didn't really think he would be any better in this class. He was starting to see his fears happen in front of him. Even at magic school he was the worst kid in class. Sinking lower into his seat, Abian tried to pay attention to what the professor was saying. He mumbled the incantation along with the rest of the class, but a part of him was angry. If this was such a useless spell, why torture them with it? When it was finally time to try for themselves, Abian tapped his quill three times and muttered the incantation under his breath. Nothing happened, and his face flushed in embarrassment. Of course nothing was happening, he could probably try twenty more times and not get anything to change. He pretended to drop the quill so he could waste some time picking it up, then proceeded to spend the rest of the hour tearing up a piece of parchment in tinier pieces and pretending to try the spell whenever the professor looked his way. He didn't see any point in actually trying, he would just humiliate himself. When the lesson was over, he shoved the unchanged quill into his bag and squeezed past the students lining up to have their perfect spoons changed into quills. He needed to get out of the castle for a bit.

(feel free to give him a lower grade)
