Sitting at her desk Kida had a Broom across her lap, she was doing some maintenance before her class began, she watched Students enter and the Quidditch Professional moved her broom to the side and waved them in. On each desk was a box with a few various coloured mice inside who were watching people approach curiously 'Don't get too friendly with your little friends here, Today we are making them Vanish' she began with a Smile, as much as Kida wanted to let the students play with the little eared creatures, she knew getting attached would be harder for them to make them Vanish. Walking around the desks Kida clapped her hands when she was ready to begin 'Okay, Take out a little mouse, Three tap Method and Evanesco, You should be well practiced at this by now but remember these little guys are faster, if you don't think you can keep them in one spot, try give them some food first so they stay still, you have quite a few mice so you and try until you are confident'

Kida paced around the aisles watching each student and assisting as needed, once all students had successfully made their mice Vanish Kida dismissed the class.

The OWL year hadn't been as bad so far as Tristan had feared. Sure, they were having to focus a lot on their lessons, but Tristan didn't mind it. Every homework assignment he made, every page he read for class took him closer to his goals. The election going on made him very excited about his future in the ministry, and he had daydreamed about running for minister himself in the future on multiple occasions.

But for that, he had to work hard in his lessons. Transfiguration was definitely important, and Tristan was eager to see what they would be vanishing during this lesson. He still hoped they would learn some sort of different spell this year too. Perhaps a variation on the vanishing spell? But it appeared not to be the case. He couldn't help but look distastefully at the mice in the box on his desk. Did they really expect him to practically kill an animal for a grade? He supposed so. He considered arguing the point, but decided against it in the end. He had to get his grades up, and if he was going to start causing trouble he would get a bad reputation. Him speaking up in Ancient Runes a few weeks ago had been bad enough. He used the spell on only one of the mice, not really seeing the point in trying it again.

[justify]Signy was almost unsure of herself as the fourth week of classes got underway. She had been only doing a little more work, and it didn’t seem particularly difficult. She had assumed it would be more difficult and yet this wasn’t proving to be. She worked hard, and did all that she could but it wasn’t that much harder, not like everyone had told her to expect, not like she’d thought it would become. The hufflepuff was pretty pleased about that, she wasn’t too stressed and she wasn’t worrying too much about it either. Maybe the next semester would be better, or well, more difficult so she would feel less bad for finding it relatively easy in this semester. The teen was pleased that she wasn’t struggling too much, she knew it meant her studying consistently through all the years was paying off in a visible way. She was because of this thought, definitely rather happy about it, and she left for class with a warm expression on her face. Signy was even finding the prefect duties fun, she looked forward to them every time she had them and she loved the time she spent with Xavier. Really, for Signy this year was going amazing so far.

The last two classes of transfiguration had been enjoyable for her, she had been happy to be able to do the spells that she was supposed to and happy to work hard and do what she was supposed in her revision. All in all just practicing and doing as good as she could. It was a fair thing. The teen sat down in the room and looked to the front where behind the professor was a box of mice, and from that Signy could figure out what they were doing. Making mice disappear. They were bigger than the eraser and the snail, but she felt certain that she would be able to do it, and certain that she would manage to do well in it. The teen took the mouse once the professor had allowed them too and did give it a little food so it would stay put, also to give something to eat before she banished it off to wherever vanished things went. The teen pointed her wand and tapped three times before saying, "Evanesco," The mouse much like the eraser in her first try seemed to want to disappear but ultimately failing too. She tried again and again and eventually got it. With enough time to be able to do it a few more times with increasing accuracy. She was pleased with herself when she left the class.

After last week October had made sure to get some extra practice in on her vanishing, not wanting her squeamishness about the snails to land her behind the rest of the class. Confident that she had caught up with the spell she headed to her usual desk, wondering what they would be vanishing this week. October's heart sank into her stomach when she looked into the box and saw the mice. They were so cute and fluffy, and reminded her so much of her dad's pet rats. October didn't know if she would be able to go through with vanishing them at all. She barely listened to the professor's instructions, heart torn at the realisation of what they were being asked to do. Once the professor was finished speaking, October raised her hand, looking up at Professor Frost, both wary and determined. “Professor, if Vanishing things removes them from existence are you asking us to kill these mice? That seems inhumane.” It hit October that last week's lesson had been the same, but she was much less fond of snails, and the thought hadn't even occurred to her. She waited for the Professor's answer, heart aching at the thought of being asked to do something so cruel to something so cute.

Corrine wasn't even sure why she was here. She'd been stressed about it all week, considering speaking to her Head of House even. But Professor Kingsley didn't teach Transfiguration, so she didn't think it would help. She'd even considered speaking to the Headmistress, but the woman looked far too intimidating to approach. Not wanting to be marked for not attending, Corrine sat at her desk, knowing she wasn't going to participate.

It was mice this time, and as October voiced what she'd been thinking about since the week prior, Corrine nodded though she also noted that October hadn't had an issue vanishing the snail. Had its life somehow mattered less to her? "Can you offer an alternative to those of us who don't want to work with anything living?" she asked, chiming in as well. She knew some of the students were fine with this, and she was going to try hard not to judge them for it. She also knew this year mattered, so she was willing to do work. Just not this. She couldn't.

Questioning Everything | Honeydukes Assistant | fifth year

[justify]Jerara was right in thinking that the main thing that was stopping him managing to do all of the work he needed to, all of the extras and just generally have a handle on everything was by doing less non-school/class related reading. It was not a good realisation, but it was one that he had come to nonetheless, and he had noted a marketable difference in how well he was juggling everything after having begun to do less of it. He disliked it a lot, the pile of books he wanted to read only increased, it didn’t go in the opposite direction like it usually did, he always had a fair number of things to read but it was never to the state it was now. He couldn’t be more frustrated by his lack of things to read really. The boy thrived off books and the extra work he did that just helped his knowledge and he didn’t want to lose any of it. Not one part of it. Jerara gathered up his books, the ones he needed for class and then left the dorm room, heading to the first class he had that day. It was sure to be a long day.

Jerara was enjoying the ever growing creatures they were disappearing within transfiguration. The boy stepped into the room and sat down within the room. He listened to the brief explanation the professor gave, the creatures they would be doing it. They were vanishing mice, which of course Jerara had absolutely no issue with. He didn't care about the creatures they would make disappear on the occasion of learning something. That was what they came to school to do, and by god was he going to learn and get as good at this spell as he could. So, when it was to them to do it, he got one of the mice and placed it upon his desk. He had no problems making it feel a little calm and then did the spell, imagining it disappear. This spell took quite a few more attempts than the prior ones, but nonetheless he still managed it and practice on several other mice until he was good at it, managing the spell on the first go. Which he did manage to do within the class itself. It was a good thing too. The teen ignored the questions of one of the other student, keeping himself to himself. By the time the lesson came to an end, he was fairly happy with himself. He left the class confident in himself with this spell.
