This lesson was going to be a little more advanced than previously. As Summers entered the room, his nodded at the students already present before taking his own seat, waiting for the stragglers to file inside before closing the door. "Who remembers covering the lesson in which transfiguration was discussed as a punishment used to turn offending wizards into statues?"

It came with no surprise that most of the class raised their hands.

"We are going to perform something quite similar to this today." Professor Summers remarked, to some shocked faces of the students. He bent down, pulling up a spacious cage containing a handful of chipmunks running around on a leafy habitat inside. "There is one difference. These animals will not be left as a statue for a length of time. As soon as I have graded your work, I will transfigure them back. This process will not harm the chipmunks, physically or otherwise. These are the same animals we use year after year for this practice. They are well fed and cared for here within the school, many of them actually having lived longer than if they were in the wild, so if you have a problem with it, you can leave, and don't think about returning for the remainder of the year, or future years. This branch of Transfiguration is completely necessary for even attempting later branches, so if you refuse to do the work now, you might as well not do it at all." He explained to them, knowing some students might feel the need to protest animal cruelty or some other such bull excuse. The chipmunks were raised for the purpose of Transfiguration classes, being subjected to magic didn't much faze them, and they enjoyed their lives not being hunted by predators.

Aeon quickly began to pass the small creatures out, without it being necessary to use an impeding spell on them as professors had before. His chipmunks were quite docile, and used to a magical learning environment. They were bred for student experience - he couldn't have students chasing them around all lesson, possibly harming the animal or themselves, so they'd been well trained. "Be careful and treat them with care. We don't want either of you harmed."

"The wand moment is the same we did last week," said Aeon as he wandered around the room. "Visualize your chipmunk turning into a statue of any material, the easiest and most common being wood or stone, then cast the spell. Metals are a little more difficult to do. The incantation is 'Statua'. Have fun and if you have any problems, I will be around to help you out." He wandered back to his desk at the front, tapping the remaining chipmunk with the tip of his wand. It lost its brown colour, instead shifting into a statue of white marble.Transfiguration,2,3

Sapphire made her way into class, Onyx not far behind her. This class was starting to rival potions for her favorite. She couldn't help it, she enjoyed the practical aspect of it, and the Professor was very engaging. She took a seat near the front, listening intently to everything the man said. She figured if he had no issue with using the chipmunks, neither did she. He was a nice guy, she saw no reason to doubt him.

Sapphire took the chipmunk he offered a little wearily. Not because of the lesson, but because aside from her and Onyx's owl Stone, she hadn't really dealt with live animals before. The chipmunk she got seemed to like her, as it grabbed hold of her thumb and promptly fell asleep. She spent a while just staring at the creature, stroking its fur softly.

It wasn't until Onyx nudged her that she remembered she was supposed to be practicing on it. She pulled out her wand, detaching the little thing from her thumb. He yawned and looked up at her. She tapped him three times, repeating the spell, and watched as her little friend turned into a small black stone statue.

Sapphire turned it in to the Professor quietly and left the room.

Onyx wasn't overly fond of Transfiguration, but then again he didn't like any class much in general. He did enjoy having class with Sapphire, however, so he supposed this was his favorite today. He took a seat next to her and listened to the Professor, making mental notes of what the man said.

The chipmunks they were given were very cute. Onyx cast his spell quickly and ended up with a little wooden chipmunk. He spent most of the class that day watching his sister and formulating a plan. She had a way with animals, though she didn't seem to know it. She was kind of cute, especially when she didn't mean to be.

Once class was over, he took off in search of one of his fellow roommates. If there was anyone in this school that could answer some questions for him, it was going to be either the Salamander or the blond dream boy. The Salamander seemed easiest to find.

As the semester pushed on, the young girl had pushed her mind to start thinking about what she would want to do as electives. Maze didn’t have particular plans for after school, she didn’t want a boring job, and that was about the only qualification that she needed for working, but what exactly that meant, time would have to tell. Maze was getting herself ready for the day as she thought about it, it was still a while away but others were talking about it and others seemed certain about what they wanted. Maze had finished running a brush through her blonde hair and wrote down a few things she wanted for after school, moving about the room, getting her uniform on and books ready as she did so. Maybe it would give her a clearer idea of what she wanted. It would have to be done after class because, she needed to focus on the now rather than the future. Planning for the future was important but it was also quite boring and could be done in little bits rather than a lot at once. Of course she couldn’t leave it last minute but she certainly wouldn’t. Maze just made sure she had everything before leaving for class.

Mazikeen walked into the tranfiguration room, and this time she was sure they would be continuing with another spell. She knew she just had to get passed the lecture and she would be good. She would need to be better at the spell, but she'd get the opportunity to do it again. She listened as the professor gave his usual monologue style introduction to the class and then told them about the spell specifically. She took a chipmunk as it was handed to her and listened as the professor continued his lecture about it. The girl listened and watched it be demonstrated and it was then over to them. Mazikeen wanted to get this right, she wanted to do it right. The girl just wanted to be able to do the spell with little to no hassle not like the last one. She pointed her wand at the chipmunk and said, "Statua," the spell didn't work, so she tried again, and again, and eventually she got it, proudly watching the chipmunk turn to stone. It hadn't taken too long and she had time left over in the class, plenty of time left over. But she just packed up her things and left the room.

Jacob raised his hand along with the class. He remembered that lesson well and his eyes widened at the thought that Professor Summers was going to make them do that. The twelve year old relaxed slightly at the professor's explanation and even more so when he explained the reason why he was having them do this work. Jacob was satisfied by the explanation. Transfiguration had proven to be hard already. He knew he could'nt put himself at a disadvantage already.

As the chipmunk sat on his desk, Jacob stared at it and then reached out a hand slowly to let the chipmunk sniff. He moved to pet the soft fur, almost forgetting to pay attention to what the professor was saying. He knew the professor said that a wood or stone statue was easiest but a diamond statue would be amazing! He closed his eyes, trying to visualize it. There it was, he mused as he opened his eyes. "Statua" he declared, using the appropriate wand movement. Twenty minutes later, Jacob sighed and resigned himself that diamond was maybe a bit much for his first attempt. "Stone it is" he muttered because wood sounded incredibly boring. He closed his eyes again, thinking about some interesting stone, gray and black. Three tries later, "Statua" he pronounced carefully. The chipmunk hardened. Its little brown body a stiff statue. Jacob was pretty excited about succeeding and left on that high note.

Anastasie entered the Transfiguration classroom and took her usual seat in the room. She had successfully turned a beetle into a button last lesson and was eager to see what this lesson would entail. They were going to turn Chipmunks into statues and Ana was excited for this. When instructed, she collected a chipmunk from the front of the room and placed it onto her desk. She tapped her wand three times on it, repeated the spell, and after a few tries it had successfully changed. Beaming, Ana brought it over to show the professor before making her way out of the classroom, proud of her efforts yet again.
