Summers waited comfortably at his desk for the first years to file in for yet another lesson. Unfortunately, they still wouldn't be doing any wandwork just yet. As they each took their seats, he rose from his and started into the day's topic. "Good morning! Great to see you all back. Wands won't be required today, sorry, but we have some more theory to get through before moving on to the exciting stuff." There were a few groans and other disappointed sounds, but the professor shot them a warning glance. He'd make it clear during their first lesson how he felt about complaints. He wanted to get to spellcasting as much as they did. "We'll try get through this quickly. Your first year is all about introductions and general familiarization, which I'm sure you've found to be the case in other subjects too. While you won't be performing most types of Transfiguration during this year, with the sole focus being Inanimate to Inanimate, you will need to know about what you'll be learning in future to help you prepare for it. Next year you'll be going into Inanimate to Animate, and so on through the list we covered earlier in the year." The wizard gestured toward the board with his wand as he spoke, causing the chalk to come to life, as usual, and write up the list again for those who needed a refresher. "These are your building blocks. Think of Inanimate to Inanimate transfiguration as the foundation for which the others build upon. That being said, Animate to Animate transfiguration will provide the backbone for nearly every advanced transfiguration spell that you will learn in future years. You must capable of transfiguring animals in general before you can hope to learn to switch, vanish, or conjure them, or even put your hands on human transfiguration." He paused to allow the few stragglers to keep up with their note-taking before he continued on, hands moving animatedly as he spoke. "Of course, human transfiguration, as you should know from lesson one, includes the animagus transformation. An animagus, for those of you who weren't paying attention, is a wizard or witch who can transform into a specific animal at will, though they are rare. This school however, has trained more animagi than any other that I'm aware of. Myself and even a few other professors who have taught here are animagi. Naturally, with this power comes responsibility, and the Ministry has regulations in place to avoid us causing havoc, if we wanted to. Here is a list of branches of magic, particularly transfigurative such an animagi and apparition, which have strict laws." He stopped once more and flicked his wand towards the blackboard. The chalk floated away from the list it had already written up and began working on another.
"And that's all we have for today. Make sure you've taken notes, and I'll see you next lesson!" Transfiguration,1,3 |

Ava made her way into transfiguration. It was one of the more interesting subjects, though she was still distracted today. She took a seat and did her best to take notes, though at the most they were a bit spotty as she tended to drift off here and there. Once class ended she left with the other students. |

Alice was very excited about Hogwarts, even three weeks in. New and fun things seemed to happen constantly! Her firstie meeting had been a success, as far as she was concerned, and the girl greatly looked forward to Halloween and the Quididtch matches she would soon be seeing. She also couldn't wait to learn more magic in her lessons, eager to see what every single subject had in store for her. Transfiguration seemed difficult to the girl, but she was very interested in it. The professor clearly had a sense of humor, as she definitely remembered the way he had tricked the students with his animagus form in the first lesson. She was a little disappointed to hear they wouldn't need their wands today, but took out parchment and quill to take notes instead. The lecture was interesting, and she felt sure they would need this information later on. What the professor said about Inanimate to Inanimate information being a foundation made sense to the girl, and she was happy to learn something so useful early on. Alice took a few notes on the concept of an animagus and proceeded to note down the branches of magic that required strict laws. She was very interested in Apparition, but knew that wasn't something they would be learning until sixth year. Not even Rose knew how to do that yet. when the lesson was over, Alice packed up her things before vacating her seat. Today's lesson had been very informative. |

Hogwarts was amazing and it was already week three. Misty had already learned a lot of new things and everything was exciting. Although she was majorly behind on everything she was still trying to keep up. So far her favorite subject had been charms. Charms was so magical and special and the fact that the spells worked for her were a big plus. She had never been good at anything, but now she was good at something. Halloween was soon coming and Misty had already prepared her costume, it was going to be amazing and she couldn't wait for the whole epic event. Transfiguration was the worst subject out there, it was difficult and overly complicated. The Professor made up for the subject especially the fact that he was a dog. The spells and theory was just too hard and it came with piles and piles of homework. She grabbed her parchment and quill and started to make notes on various limitations and things about transfiguration. It contained a lot of hard words and Misty had a hard time to keep up with making notes. The information was needed, but it was a lot in a short period of time. Misty her notes were a mere pass and she knew she had to ask Alice if she had written more about the subject. Transfiguration was hard and it just wasn't really her thing. When she was done she left the classroom feeling tired and stressed out by the cheer size of the subject. |
