Canine Animagus ☼ Spell Inventor Magical Menagerie Proprietor Transfiguration Professor 1-4 Brodie's Familiar

As his students sat down, Professor Summers wordlessly withdrew a large box from under the desk. after removing on top, and on closer inspection, it was revealed to actually be a chess set. The marble pieces stood still, staring blankly out at the class.

"Hey guys, so I have something a little more enjoyable for our last lesson. Who here has played wizard chess?" Summers questioned. Unsurprisingly, only a few hands were raised. It wasn't like most twelve year olds were too enthusiastic about chess. "Before those chess pieces have minds of their own, they are normal, boring, chess pieces that rather resemble the type used by most muggles."

"The pieces are transfigured, by a special team of wizard toy makers, to come to life. Each set generally has its own distinct personality, depending on the preference of the witch or wizard who brought them to life. This type of transfiguration falls under the Inanimate to Animate type of spell."

"This,"
Aeon pointed at the chess set, "is a muggle chess set. The pieces remain stationary, having no animation or personality of their own, until we put some life in them."

Taking out his wand, Summers waved the mahogany wood toward a marble piece at random. "Animare!" He incanted, and at once the piece's facial features changed first. Its mouth melted into gentle smile, scowl, and even goofy jester grin, churning through an assortment of emotions. Next its attire changed, becoming more independent and free flowing. The piece remained in the clothing that had been carved onto it, but it seemed to come to life, separating from its body somewhat to resemble a more living appearance. A lone pawn now stood quivering nervously on the spot, barely holding on to his small dagger.

Professor Summers' eyes moved from the knight to the class with a smile. "As you can see, the incantation 'animare' brings things to life. Naturally, other inanimate objects are brought to life to amuse children. Chocolate frogs are an excellent example that comes to mind. After the chocolate is mixed and set, candy makers use a sort of mild spell form of the spell on it so as to not disturb the flavor. The result is that they really only get one good jump before --"

"Oh my, oh dear, excuse me. I am not d-doing battle with these giants, am I? I do not think I am very well equipped for th-this type of combat, you see-" The nervous pawn interrupted, eyes wide and staring at the rows of children. Professor Summers's made to wave his wand at the pawn before it could interrupt his class further, returning it to its solid state.

"Anyway, the wand movement," He continued. "The type of wand movement best suited for Inanimate to Animate Transfiguration is called the 'One-Tap Method.' You should tap the object that you are going to transfigure once squarely in it's center and then aim the wand at the object, speaking aloud the incantation. With the proper visualization and concentration, the correct wand movement, and a firmly spoken incantation, you should find yourself able to cast most inanimate to animate spells. Now one by one come to the front, pick a chess piece, and try to bring it to life in front of the class. Starting with you." [justify]Simon was pretty happy with how the semester had passed, he had picked his classes, his electives and he had already begun picking out the books he would need for each of them. It was a good thing that he was likely going to be so prepared but likely also a bad thing as he wanted to start reading the books for the next year without actually having finished the books or classes in this semester. He just got so eager he couldn’t help himself. But Simon knew he had to focus there was a lot of work that he needed to do on his current classes that he had to prioritise. The ravenclaw was indeed getting himself ready for that day, he had a feeling a lot of this week would be pretty easy, but given that Simon really enjoyed studying, he wasn’t going to turn down the opportunity to study more. He packed up his things and left the dorm.

Simon walked into the transfiguration classroom, sitting down in his usual spot in the room, and glancing towards the professor at the front of the room who began his lesson. He was glad when they wouldn't be revising, but they would actually be learning something useful. Simon raised his hand to say that he had played wizard chess, and he knew that the pieces had minds of their own. He watched as the professor did the spell on on of the pieces and it became animated. It was interesting to watch. He though that they would only watch as the professor did the spell, but as it turned out they would get to do it themselves. Simon pondered over what chess piece he wanted to pick. It took a while, but he eventually settled upon a knight. Not the most powerful piece, but he liked the knight better. He cast the spell, pointing his wand at it, tapped once and said, "Animare," the piece seemed to move but didn't entirely come to life, so he did the spell again. Tapped once and said, "Animare," this time it was far more successful. He smiled at the piece and the lesson was then shortly brought to an end. He handed in the now animated knight and left the classroom.

Not a Twin | Perfectionist | Well-Organized | Swimmer | Controlled | Socially Awkward

As it was the last week, Gabriella's nerves for the exams were through the roof. She had hoped she was a little better than she had been in her first year, but the stress was still getting to her. So it was a little alarming to her that Transfiguration wouldn't have a study lesson like most of the other subjects did. The professor did promise them an enjoyable lesson, but Gabriella knew what others found enjoying wasn't always what she liked as well. She enjoyed theoretical lessons more than most students, so she assumed this would be a practical lesson.

Gabriella raised her hand at the question. She didn't play it very often, but enjoyed it once in a while with her father. It made sense t her that the pieces were normal muggle chess pieces that were under a spel, and she was eager to find out more about it. She hoped they would learn the spell, even if she could admit it wouldn't have much practical use. Any chess set she made would be less powerful than store-bought sets, so there wasn't much point to it in the end. But it would be fun to learn.

She watched as the professor demonstrated the spell, listening to the information he gave and taking a few notes. Chocolate frogs seemed like a good example too but she was glad they were doing the spell on chess pieces instead. She smiled a little at the poor pawn, he was adorable in a way. But she did appreciate when the lesson kept going. The wand movement was simple, and she understood the visualization and concentration. When the professor was nearly done, he revealed they would have to do it in front of the entire class. Gabriella's heart felt like it stopped for a moment. Anxiously, she watched as Simon Vanity tried first. He didn't do it in one go, but he still managed quickly. Then, before she knew it, it was her turn. Nervously she made her way to the front of the class, mentally going over everything the professor said. She stood in front of the chess piece and took a deep breath. Then performed the one-tap method and said the incantation calmly, focusing on the mental image of a moving piece. To her surprise and delight, the piece came to life at once. Proud of herself, she took her seat again and looked at the next person to try.

It was the final week of lessons, and curiously Theodore wasn't as eager to go home as usual. He was starting to get used to the castle, despite the many annoying other students, and didn't feel like he needed to escape as much as he had in the previous year. He still would rather avoid most other people, especially Zoe Tsuji. He was sure she had tried to humiliate him with her valentine's rose, and didn't want her anywhere near him again.

Today's lesson was about chess, which interested Theodore greatly. He loved chess, it had been a hobby for him ever since he was young. He was rather good at it too. Normally he never raised his hand in class, but this question was the exception. Thankfully, they weren't asked to elaborate on their answers. He listened as the professor explained that wizarding chess was just muggle chess with a spell cast on it. He wondered what that spell could do on things like old dolls, or other inanimate objects. Perhaps that was something to experiment with later. For now he listened as the professor explained the spell and watched as he demonstrated it. He preferred playing with muggle pieces, as he didn't like the fact that the wizarding ones tried to talk to him and questioned his tactics.

But his enjoyment in the lesson faded quite a bit as he realized what they had to do. The idea of trying the spell himself wasn't bad, but having to do it alone in front of the class wasn't something he wanted to do. His mind immediately scrambled for a way out, and he glanced at Edmund. But no, he couldn't let Edmund do it for him because they would both be expected to do it. There was no way that wouldn't be noticed. There was no solution, he had to do it. When it was finally his turn, he didn't appear nervous as he headed to the front of the class even though he was. He took a deep breath and tried the spell, rushing a little to get it over with. But it didn't work. His face still impassive, he tried it again. This time, he made sure to focus properly. The spell worked, though he didn't think his chess piece was the liveliest he had ever seen. It would have to do. He quietly walked back to his seat, resenting the professor for this stupid idea.

[justify]Sixth lesson came as Alexis entered her Transfiguration class. Seated in her usual seat for the past two years, she readied her wand on the table as well as a small notebook and pen which contained all her revisions for this class. Exams were fast approaching and she needed to study as much as she could. The lesson promptly started when Prof. Summers brought out a chess set which the Ravenclaw recognized as a muggle one. She had seen this in her grandfather's study as a decor. She had played it a couple times, more often than the wizards one. She raised her hand when the professor asked the class who had played the said game. Afterward, the teacher proceeded to animate the muggle piece he had taken out. Alexis, along with the other students, was amazed at the piece came to life. Prof. Summers continued explaining the incantation when the animated piece suddenly spoke up. Alexis, who was in the second row almost jumped from her seat when it happened. Spooked but she found it funny as she continued listening to the teacher. After a while, he instructed them to get a piece and animate it using the incantation he had just taught them. Grabbing a horse piece, Alexis cleared her throat before tapping it gently but firmly and in a clear voice,"Animare." She watched as the horse piece stayed still for a few seconds before starting to change its form until it became animate right before the Ravenclaw's eyes. Satisfied with her performance, she nodded at the professor before going back to her seat and watched her other classmates perform as well.

[justify]Last Transfiguration class, and Joshua was feeling the same way as last week. Nothing change, except maybe he was a little happy to be going home after this. He would return and be welcome back to the environment he grew up in. Sure, Jenna would be a bother and bug Joshua about school. Seeing her and his tia, would be nice though. Tia would also be taking them up on a trip to Spain. To some place warm and where he could go swimming. It's been in ages since he stepped into a mass body of water without having to fear if any mers were going to jump out and drag him down.

Joshua came to class, already carrying his wand out from his bag. He really just wanted to try and get it right the first time. He didn't want to be to exhausted. Though it was his last class, he would fall tired either way. It's not preventable, so, Joshua handle his last lesson with a little more courage than usual. Joshua took in the given instructions, cleared his throat and moved on. Joshua attempted to bring life to the little chess piece, a game he was unfamiliar with. Joshua, attempted with it a good fifteen minutes. Then it happen, the chess piece move around and was given such a cowardly persona. That cause Joshua to blush, and hand over the frantic piece before it died of terror. He would've ended with finite, but the piece kept moving around.
