Professor Aeon Summers

Canine Animagus ☼ Spell Inventor Magical Menagerie Proprietor Transfiguration Professor 1-4 Brodie's Familiar

"Good morning everyone, today's lesson will be kept relatively short." Professor Summers said cheerfully as the students sat down. "To begin, I would like you all to please pull out your textbook and place it on your desk." The man waited for everyone to pull out their books, nodding once it looked like every desk had one. "Today, we are going to turn these books into jewelry boxes."

He paused as several students oohed at the thought. Summers walked over to his desk and pulled out a book of his own to be used in the demonstration. "We will, of course, be using the three tap method as usual. The incantation is 'Gemelitiar.' Like this."

Professor Summers tapped his book three times and incanted the spell, "Gemelitiar" and the book immediately changed into a beautiful jewelry box made of mahogany wood, inscribed with sentences from the books pages in reference to its previous form. Garnets and opals accented the boxes lid.

"Easy. Try to visualise a box that suits you and what you like, draw on familiar things that are easy to visualise, or memories of jewelry boxes you've seen before. I would like all of you to begin, I will be walking around as always. After you are done, use the rest of your time to study."

Note: "Finite" is a counter-spell, not Untransfiguration, and shouldn't be used to reverse any transfigurations.Transfiguration,1,6

His first year at Hogwarts was almost over already! He couldn’t believe it! The year had flown past and he’d made so many friends, played so many games of rugby by himself and just had an absolute blast at school. He was already forming plans for his next year. It would have to be filled with more fun, bigger fun and include more people. The Slytherin knew he had a number of things he needed to do before the semester was officially over, but the fact that after this week he wouldn’t have any more classes was what enticed him to start coming up with the following year would hold for him. The boy was getting ready for the day, throwing in the items he would need before leaving the dorm room and heading to the classroom. He would have an easy week he was sure, but it didn’t mean he was any less looking for to it.

Derek was enjoying how the semester was rounding off. It was a rather enjoyable experience. He had liked all of his lessons so far. The boy looked up at the transfiguration professor when he had sat down in the room. They would actually be doing a spell! That was good. he couldn't want to get started. He listened to the brief lecture on the subject that the professor gave before they were allowed to try the spell themselves. He took out his wand and took a book. He hadn't ever really seen a jewelry box before, not other than the one his mother had and he wasn't sure he was remembering that all that well. But it didn't matter. He pointed his wand at the book and began practicing the spell. He managed an almost jewelry box after a few tries, but it was a rather poor one, so he got the professor to transfigure it back into a book and got a second chance. This time he got it far better. Though he made the professor change it back again so he could practice it again. Using all of his time to practice this spell rather than studying. The lesson was wrapped up and Derek left the room.

It was the week before exams which meant Sam had her nose in her books, pretty much. She didn't even want to think of taking too many breaks, except for meals and a good night‘s sleep. She needed to impress her professors and moreover, herself. She did really well in the first semester and had no plans on ruining her perfect grades she worked really hard in achieving. With all of this in mind the Slytherin headed to the Transfiguration classroom for the last lesson of the year. It was weird to think about. She listened as Professor Summers told the class what they were going to do today, and when he was finished Sam took her textbook and placed it on the desk in front of her. "Gemelitiar," she said, confidently tapping the textbook three times.

When nothing happened, she sighed, frustrated. Professor Summers made it sound and look so easy. Sam didn't want to stress about this a week before exams, it wasn't going how she wanted it to and more than that, it wasn't going to impress the professor. She needed to do and be better than this. She tried again and again. And again. Finally, after the seventh try the textbook turned into a jewellery box. Sam was a little red in the face, from having tried so hard and although she had managed to cast it eventually for her it wasn't good enough. She had to be able to do a simple spell much quicker than that. She used the rest of the time to study, hoping to ease her mind, by doing something she was aware of being good at. Memorising things. When they were dismissed Sam was one of the first people to get out of there.

Mazikeen was sad that her first year at hogwarts was ending, she had had so much at school over the last year, and the girl couldn’t believe it had gone by so quickly. She just couldn’t wait to finish up this year and start the next. The gryffindor was so hopeful of doing well during this semester and she was mostly looking forward to all the other things they would cover in second year. The gryffindor was getting ready for her final week of classes, she had begun gathering up all her homework and putting it into her bag. She had to make sure she had everything, she didn’t want to do badly in her classes. Maze grabbed the last few things and then headed out of the dorm room. She couldn’t wait for the classes to be over, it was fun to be at them, but being free would absolutely free up all of her time.

Mazikeen did not like having to spend every last lesson studying. She sat down in the transfiguration room pretty pleased that while the lesson would be short they would actually be doing something. She looked at the professor as the man told them what they would be doing. Changing a book into a a jewelry box. Not the most interesting thing that they could do, but it was something. She nodded and repeated the spell's incantation under her breath as the professor then demonstrated the spell. She thought it was a little complex and didn't think she could do the spell, but got a book and began to try. In his mind she visualised a jewelry box, thinking of a book turning into it, and then specifically that book. She did the spell a few times, tapping three times and saying "Gemelitiar," but it was on her last attempt that she got it. It transformed into a jewelry box before her eyes. She could barely believe it. It was a pretty cool spell. She wanted to practice it more bu the lesson was wrapped up and she knew she would never want to transfigure any of her books without knowing how to change them back. She just packed up and left the room.

Jacob hadn't spoken to Zennon since the Great Hall incident and he was beginning to wonder if they just weren't going to speak again this semester. The thought made him sad but not sad enough to swallow his pride and seek out Zennon first. As the professor instructed them to take out their textbook, Jacob sighed as he readied himself for another study session. So he was surprised when the professor continued.

Jewelry boxes. Jacob listened to the lesson, finding the incantation difficult to say. He repeated it slowly, practicing silently as the professor spoke. He thought about the jewelry box in his parent's bedroom. It was dark wood with a gold lock and some small paintings on the side. Runes. As they were set to their task, Jacob knew he could easily bring to mind his mother's jewelry box but making a replica of it appear here would not be easy. And he was right.

"Gemelitier" he said, three tapping. He knew something wasn't right but it took a few attempts before he realized it was his pronunciation. "Gemelitiar" he corrected, though the next few attempts he forgot to tap three times. Finally, he managed to get it all together, the taps and the words and the focus. Before him was his mom's jewelry box just as he remembered it. Jacob smiled as he touched the lid, tracing one of the runes.

Now that her mother was candidate for Minister of Magic, Diana already noticed that more people seemed to know who she was. At least, she thought so. It made her happy, as she liked the attention. In her opinion, it was a lot more important than the lessons, but she knew she had to do well in those too. If only so her parents wouldn't get on her case about it.

Transfiguration was definitely one of the more boring subjects. It had spells, sure, but not nearly enough to balance out with the many lectures and difficult concepts they had to grasp. She already had a feeling this exam wouldn't be a winner for her. On top of that, she had the subject with the Gryffindors, which included some of her least favorite people. She rolled her eyes pointedly as she walked past Jacob on her way to her seat.

Today's lesson wasn't long, apparently, which she liked. But she sighed deeply when they had to take out their textbooks. The professor surprised them, though, by telling them they would be turning their books into jewelry boxes. Jewelry boxes were definitely more interesting than books, in her opinion. She watched as the professor showed them how to do it and listened carefully to the incantation. The jewelry box he made was gorgeous, and she immediately wanted to have it. When it was their turn to try, she copied the three-tap-method from what she had seen the professor do. But first she stumbled over the spell. She paused listening to a few others pronounce it before she tried it again. This time, the book became a box, but it wasn't very pretty at all. It was just a wooden box. She scowled and glanced at the others, a few had much nicer boxes. This was a stupid spell, she decided.

Sapphire made her way into class and sat alone in the back. Things were really spicing up around here- Dianna's mom was running for Minister and Sapph was sure Di was basking in the attention. Who could blame her, though? Sapph was also pretty sure that Zennon and Jacob were fighting. The two of them seemed really rather tense and it made her wonder if there was anything she could do to help. Boys and their stubborn pride. Not that she had much room to talk, but she was getting better at admitting when she was wrong.

The Professor started talking then, pulling her out of her thoughts. She pulled out her textbook and wand, and once she was sure she had the instructions right, she attempted the spell. She almost grinned when her book turned into a jewelry box... until she saw the single gem in the center of the lid. Her face went pale and her jaw set, hot tears pricking at her eyes as she studied the little onyx stone. She wondered briefly why she was so angry about it, why the thought of it put a knot in her gut. She found it annoying that her magic was picking up on her inner turmoil and dragging it into her work.

She grabbed her bag and slipped out of class when the Professor's head was turned, not bothering to grab the stupid textbook to take with her.
