Mother of Two Girls | Astronomy Professor | HS Graduate Ravenclaw

[justify]Sarah had been looking forward to this trip with her oldest students. She hadn't taught them for very long it seemed and yet after this they would be heading out in the 'real world'. She hoped they would do well and as a send off they had a special trip this week. "Good afternoon students! I know this isn't a usual meeting time but we must be off!" She said excitedly urging them to gather around. "We will be going on a camping 'trip'. So don't get out your equipment as usual, now follow me." Sarah said as she began to head out of the classroom locking it behind her once the students all exited.

Professor Harrington walked the group out to a far corner of the castle grounds, there were tents set up, some to the right and some to the left. "Now, you are free to study the stars all night, first we shall build some campfires which by the time the stars are out should die down enough to not cause any local light pollution. But," she said, her voice stern and strict. "There is one rule you must stick to; Boys will be on this side," she gestured to the tents set up on the left, "Girls will be on this side," she gestured to the tents on the right.

"I have placed spells upon both sides to stop the opposite gender entering the other group of tents."
She said, having read it in the notes from a previous Professor and thinking it was a grand idea to stop any mischief. She was wondering if any of them would test her cursing abilities. She knew if they did, they would be in for a surprise.

The tents were near the lakefront and as the evening drew in, a fall sunset appeared, reflected in the lake. The fires she started were a nice compliment to the sunset that evening. Professor Harrington had instructed the students to find someone to share a tent with as these were only small tents and could only house two people. Of course, these were wizardying tents which meant that bathroom facilities were also included. But only that and a bedroom. Nowhere to cook or store food.

"As you should know, your N.E.W.Ts are coming up very soon and it is vital you study." There were groans from the students sitting about the fire. "However, I will let you off studying for your N.E.W.Ts tonight in order for you to relax and enjoy yourselves, however I do believe you should take the time tonight to study the sky, practice with your star charts once more, one last rule curfew will be at 1:30am so make sure you are in your tents by then," Sarah said with a smile. She wished her children could join in the fun she knew the girls loved campfires and things like that, but they were too young to be sevenths years and in this class. She hoped they would also enjoy the meteorite shower that would be happening around 11pm-1am, a few stray ones might appear before or after that time but it ended up being the most perfect night to study but not really study and just enjoy the sky.

struggling artiste | class of 2046, former head boy

[justify]Tholomyes was beginning to wonder about life after school a lot now, he was so close to graduating that it was a far more pressing matter, he obviously wanted to paint but that wouldn’t bring the money in, not for a while at least. He expect that he would have to get a job of some kind, just something to tide him over while he worked on his art. THat and he had to think about Emma, they had been in a blissful state while she was at school but in the real world he knew it would be more difficult to hide their relationship and that could only mean bad things for them. He didn’t want to break up, of course not, but he just knew that he needed to start thinking more seriously about the future. The head boy was getting himself ready to face the day, knowing he had to still focus on his exams, none of it would matter if he failed his exams and didn’t do as well as he would’ve wanted to in his exams. Tholomyes made sure to have his homework and his notes before he got himself dressed in his uniform, pinned the head boy badge to his robes and then he left the dorm room and went to class.

Tholomyes had been surprised when they would be meeting at a different time for astronomy, it seemed a little later in the year for that sort of thing. He walked out with the rest of the class to the lake front, and couldn't help but be reminded of when he'd been camping outside in the grounds before. Where he'd been protesting with the rest of the Wild Patch club members. At the very least this time around he wouldn't end up getting into trouble. He took a spot at the lake front as the sun began to set, and took out his astronomy books. He couldn't see any stars yet, but it was still too early for it, so he knew it would just be as practical to do some book revision. When the night sky was dark enough he took out the star chart and began working away. It was a nice to study, he was glad he hadn't made any other plans for the night, since they would be interrupted by this astronomy lesson. Theo had to be reminded of the time when curfew arrived, he had been enjoying watching the odd meteorite shower that he'd seen. All in all not a bad night. He sleep well, it was a nice tent, but he preferred his bed. By the time morning came, Tholomyes was just happy to go back to the dorm and get a few more hours sleep before the next class.
