As the last few students shuffled into the room, Aeon briefly raised his wand to the door, forcing it to swing shut after them. "Good afternoon and welcome back. It's nice to see you all here." Professor Summers said with a smile, glancing over the present students. No one seemed to be missing. "We've gone over and practiced Animate to Inanimate Transfiguration, so it's time to move on. We are going to get a start on transfiguring inanimate, or non-living object, into an animate, or living one. I've got quite a lot to teach you before you can attempt to cast a spell." The majority of the class seemed somewhat dismayed. They were no doubt all too aware that this meant another theory lesson. Aeon shrugged. It had to be done. "Again, an inanimate object refers to any object that is nonliving. To change it into something animate, you will need to give your chosen object life. Sight, breath, limbs, anything that makes an animate object live. These types of transformations are immensely more difficult than inanimate to inanimate or animate to inanimate transformations, so pay close attention." With that, he motioned his wand toward the blackboard, animating the dormant chalkstick. Inanimate to Animate Transfiguration "Just like other transfigurations, when transfiguring something that is not alive into something that is alive, you must first have a very clear mental image of the thing that you are transfiguring. Every little detail, whether it be the different shape of the eyes, the texture of the skin, the color of the object - all of it must be visualized in your mind at the time of casting for a transfiguration spell to take proper effect. Skipping this very important step will often result in a misshapen object, or a completely failed transfiguration altogether." Aeon took a moment to let it sink in, ensuring everyone was paying close attention. He snapped his fingers at a student who was drawing instead of taking notes, before moving on. "Any person that wishes to become successful at transfiguring inanimate objects must remember an important point: inanimate objects have no minds of their own. Not a single bit. All of it must be given by you, the caster. The first and most often forgotten step is that a button or a chess piece doesn't have a mind to control automatic responses or a thinking process. Therefore, when a wizard or witch casts a spell on an inanimate object and changes it into a living creature, they must create a brain for the object. A few thoughts about eating insects here, a long sticky tongue there, some slimy, bumpy skin, and you have created a frog. BUT, if this step is not performed correctly, then the object will change into the animal, but - it might very well be brain-dead." Some faces paled at the thought, others looked bored. It was a very important lesson, and he still had to talk about the wand movement for inanimate to animate transfiguration, but he decided to get them to refocus and get enthused, he'd give them a demonstration. "I'll show you exactly what this type of transfiguration can do." Summers informed them, gesturing with his wand toward an empty chair. It became a bright pink flamingo at once, strutting around the classroom with hardly a care. "That is an example of Inanimate to Animate Transfiguration." Aeon said as some of the students watched, fascinated as it approached them, some reaching out to stroke its feathers, which had only been mere wood moments early. Aeon's eyes meanwhile drifted to the clock, noting how late it was. "Unfortunately that's all we have time for today. I promise the next few lessons will be more exciting." He said, reluctantly changing the flamingo back into a boring old chair. Homework: RP the lesson. Transfiguration,2,4 |

Simon was pretty happy with how the semester was going and he had particularly enjoyed the duelling. He knew that needed to work on his skills in it, but at the very least he had finally gotten the opportunity to try his hand at casting magic that he hadn’t been able to yet. In a way that was more challenging and was at it’s heart a competition, and boy did Simon love competition. The young ravenclaw had spent time practicing his spells and the wand movements, if this was to happen in the following year he was happy to try again, and again until he got good at it. He certainly knew from that, that when he left school he wanted to do something that involved him casting magic. He didn’t want to be a dueller but sitting behind a desk at all times wasn’t going to suit him much at all either. There had been to be some balance he could reach. Simon had a small idea of what he wanted, but it was just an idea, he’d picked the classes for it, but he wouldn’t talk about it until he had gotten his OWLs at least. With that thought the boy knew he should get to class, so he packed up his things and left for that room. Simon had enjoyed turning the chipmunk into stone, as they had done in the last lesson of transfiguration but he was hoping for more of that sort of thing. He took his seat in the transfiguration classroom and looked up at the professor as the man got started. It appeared clear that they wouldn't be doing a spell, but rather would be listening to a lecture. As much as Simon would've rather learn another spell, he didn't hate theory. He liked theory a lot. He took his notes and pulled them close to him, beginning to write down everything that the professor was saying about the sort of spell he was talking about. The boy paid closed attention, as the professor told them to, and he wrote down all of the important bits of information that the professor was giving them about the spell. It seemed wild that magical people like everyone in this room could create a living creature out of nothing or well, out of a chair or something. He didn't want to ever create a brain dead creature and watching with rapt attention as the professor demonstrated a successful transfiguration. He wanted to be able to do that sort of spell, but the lecture was all they had time for in that lesson, so Simon just packed up his notes and left the room, hoping that they might get a chance to do it in the next lesson. Gabriella entered the Transfiguration classroom with a small smile on her face. She liked this subject a lot, and was happy to have it again this semester. This year had been very interesting so far, definitely more challenging than the first. Though she still felt nervous about performing spells in class, she liked the results a lot more than in a subject like Charms. She was having a good year in general, reconnecting with her sister properly and making a few friends. She hoped the exam stress wouldn't get to her too badly this time, as it usually caused her to be very anxious for a long time. So far it hadn't started to make her feel bad, which was good. The professor told them they would start transfiguring inanimate objects into animate beings. That sounded like it was difficult, but she was ready for the task. Taking notes, she wrote down that these types of transformations were more difficult than the ones they had done so far. Which made sense as they were giving objects life. She noted down that you needed a clear mental image, and that skipping this step would result in misshapen objects. She was glad to have a lecture, finding it interesting and full of new information she could use in the future. Professor Summers explained it very well, and she was happy with her notes. When the professor was done with the largest part of his lecture, he transformed an empty chair into a large flamingo, which made Gabriella's eyes widen slightly. She drew back slightly when the bird approached, and was glad when it moved on to the row behind her. The lesson was then over, which made her a little sad. She left the classroom after looking over her notes one more time. |

Fourth week of Transfiguration, Chante arrive to class with the same distaste for this subject. She sat down at her usual seat, and in typical fashion pulled her robes over her head. It was becoming bit of a habit of hers. It didn't help it though. She can hear Professor Summer's voice clear as day. He went on with his lesson, and Chante peered from underneath her school robes. It was different today. They have passed onto inanimate to animate magic. Which meant no more harming of non magical creatures. Okay with the change, Chante pulls her robes down. He may have changed the subject, however, the rest she felt like it would be more work than previous lessons. To breathe life into something non living seems hard. Its no wonder her parents stayed away from transfiguration. She was more of a hands on learner, and not ashamed to admit that she is. Chante, remained quiet throughout the lecture. The demonstration was impressive, however, she can't seem to get over how much harder she would have to work to accomplish such a spell. |

Fourth week of Transfiguration, another spell to get accustomed too. Joshua, was doing a bit better. As in, he was doing great with past lessons so far. Recent ones, he was struggling with them. Doubts got into his head and he would end up messing up while practicing on his own. He would do that less when that happens. And when he so happen to do great with spells, he would exhaust himself trying hard. That little glimpse of hope sometimes kept him up at night. He didn't mind if it meant getting better. Today in class, they were moving on from the subject. Joshua didn't know how to feel about that. It worried him, and he was right to be worried. Inanimate to animate sounded ridiculously, complicated. The kind of magic his tia would never, ever try. He was a little unsure if he would be great with details, it sounded like drawing. Drawing? Joshua no good at drawing. Joshua sighed, placing his head down. Cool surface of his desk kinda comfort him. He continued paying mind to his lesson, and sat up after witnessing a chair turn to a pink bird! Fascinated, the boy stared at the bird for a long time. Then lesson ended and the pink flamingo was no more. |

Transfiguration had proved to be hard work and Patrick was nervous again for his next lesson. Somehow he felt that charms was much easier as he could apply many of the spells to real life, but half of the spells that were taught in Transfiguration Patrick could not see himself performing everyday once he left Hogwarts. With a shrug, Patrick packed everything he needed before heading up to the Transfiguration classroom and following his classmates into the classroom. As he took his usual seat, he was relieved as the professor started lecturing them and happily took some notes. Inanimate to animate Transfiguration definitely seemed harder than what they were doing in the previous lessons and Patrick hoped that he found eventually be able to get it. He watched as the professor demonstrated this, following the pink flamingo that the professor had transfigured from a chair around the classroom as the professor continued to speak. Eventually the lesson had finished and Patrick promptly packed everything away before heading out of the classroom, happy with that day's lesson. |

It was the fourth class and Alexis knew that somehow they would be moving on to another topic and could be a theory class. The Ravenclaw sat at her usual place, pulling out her noteboook and pen, ready for the lesson. The classroom slowly filled with her classmates,Alexis smiled as she saw Simon and Patrick entered and took their seats. Soon enough, the lesson started to the dismay of some since they would not be doing any incantation. Alexis bent down on her notebook and began taking down all the things Prof. Summers said, underlining some terms which she would do more reading later after dinner. This had gone on for a few minutes until the professor showed them an example on Inanimate to Animate, turning a chair into a flamingo. Alexis chuckled at this, running her hand on its feather as it walked past her to the back of the room. Soon enough, the class was dismissed, and the students packed their stuff and left the classroom. |
